Title. I have never, ever, in my life, seen a small group of individuals (you know who you are) put in so much effort towards hating a game. Until now. MO has promised us change and entertainment. It is not a scam or a perfect product, but it is unique and quite enjoyable.

Every time i visit these forums, hoping to have a discussion about this wonderful game i'm enjoying, all i can see is hate post after hate post. Always the same few individuals.

THE GAME IS NOT AS BAD AS THEY SAY!!!!!!!!!

Nor is it as broken or devoid of substance, or insert a number of things the band wagon haters have called it. Darkfall had it pretty bad but the supporters outnumbered the haters. Ran the "hardcore" forum critics away.

I had my MO client up for 24 hours straight the other day. Yes you read that correctly. There we're more people than i could count online the entire time. I didn't crash the entire time. I wasn't hacked nor did i find anyone hacking. The skill system is refreshing and the crafting is absolutely top notch.  The economy is not only booming, but regulated quite nicely by other players.

Thieves run rampant and thieves getting killed runs rampant lol. I play a mage and i took on a murderer outside of town riding a horse. His horse and spear vs my spells, he ran me over and  killed me pretty easily and took my loot (some decent armor). As i died i saw him killing other new players as well. This must be stopped i said to myself.

I gathered a few friends and we chased him into the mountains. He managed to lose us with low health. As we searched deeper leading into the forest, we discovered someone "else" had finished our job. Another murderer.... We assumed he had my loot. We ran him down. Took him out. Got my loot back. That's life for you. I am absolutely loving this game.

Good for you mate, it isnt great by a long shot, but not nearly as gloomy as the 4 usual MO trolls make out, R,S,H and H actualy all share one basement and rub each others backs with glee as they type their usual missives, rumours i,m sure, just like the rumours of at least 2 of thems motives.

I would appear they cant handle rejection to well.

And good to hear of more non clan peeps forming up to combat the killers outside cities, its making of your own stories that gets me hooked into sandbox games.

Ummmm... If youre so content with MO why try Darkfall?

    "Straight to the point:   (DARKFALL)

    What i liked:

Forgot what having a map felt like. Felt good.

Wow. They actually notify me when my skills increase.

I didnt die in 4 hits in my first fight. (Mortal Online doesn't really explain how you can really gimp yourself by not choosing the right stats. It's a learning experience.)

Character customization is by far..... waaaay ahead of Mortal Online. (Not that MO doesn't have alot of options. They just aren't that noticeable.) I couldn't resist playing the Mahirim Race. "there's a she wolf in your closet" Bonus for knowing what song that is ;)

I can sprint for more than 3 seconds.

Right clicking your mouse to enter and exit interface mode is sheer genius. Genius!!!

Control felt smooth and seamless and so did combat. Lol at the Leaf blade starter sword.

Actually, the only thing i didn't like was the graphics style. The graphics are amazing dont get me wrong but... I guess because i played MO first: I've gotten so used to realistic graphics. Realistic everything for that matter.

Also, the town i started in was sort of empty. Started in the northern town (for Mahirims. Seeing how easily and swiftly death comes in MO, I didn't feel that same adrenaline, and having to watch my back in Darkfall. Though i only played for 2 hours. That's my quick assessment. Loving the game though.

Oh and PayPal did the trick. For those that helped me with the credit card issue. =) "

I wont deny trying Darkfall. I did. I was on spring break and decided to try the 2 most controversial sandbox games on this website. That's exactly what i did. Just like then, i was completely honest with my critiques, as i am right now. I would probably be playing Darkfall over MO had i tried it before MO.

That's just how the dice rolls. I stayed with MO because  the system was more familiar and i had made more progression. Both are great games. That is neither here are there. We're you trying to make a point somewhere?

More progression???  The games going to get wiped...

My point is... If you LOVE MO, why would you try another game?  Seems rather odd!

As for ONLY a few haters I think you are sadly mistaken there also! There are way more than a few, maybe if SV wasn't run by such arrogant asses they might get people to try their game instead of pissing people off b4 they even get to try it.

MOs biggest problem is not even the crappy game its self, but the turds that are making the game, this is why MO is going to fail b4 it even gets a chance to launch!!

You assume every "new"/potential MO player, scolds the forums wondering if the developers are "arrogant asses". I certainly didn't. All i saw is new sandbox game. I tried it. I liked it. Alot of people i play with, not only don't frequent this site, but never visits the forums, period. Official or unofficial alike.

Our voices may be small but the point of this thread is to ultimately draw in people who have been slightly influenced into not trying the game, due to all the negative threads that pop up, by the same few people, everyday.

The water is fine: come on in. Mortal Online is a blast to play and i'm sure you will love it as well.

Yes the game will get wiped when beta ends. I had still made more progression in comparison to Darkfall. Not hard to understand.

Yes i do "LOVE MO" but that doesn't mean i can't try other games as well. Thanks to this website, they have made searching out and trying new games quite painless. That's the point of this website is it not? How do you find it so "odd"?

That's exactly why i made this thread. That kind of attitude. The game is not  garbage. I won't buy into the sensationalism. The trend here to is to jump on board with other posters and bash a game, along with its developers, and anyone that may like said  game being bashed.

I would be playing whichever game i had tried first. I've already stated they are both great games. I went with the game i had invested the most time into.

Again, bother are very fun sandbox games. Taking a line or two from a post of mine doesn't discredit my topic in one bit.

No i have not purchased the game already but i plan to as soon as they finish beta.

Last time I checked everyone was entitled to an opinion. You may very well like the game, good for you and I am glad you are enjoying it. I just think people should be told the OTHER side of the story and let them deside if they want to throw away their mony because someone says they should play a game but does not even give ANY good reasons to play.

Here is your chance, sell the game you love to others! Tell us ALL the good UNIQUE things that MO has right now.

I have never played MO, and I never plan to, I currently play another mmo that I'm going to stay with. But it's freaking annoying when I come on mmorpg.com and always find a hate thread about this game. I have much better things to do with my time, and I'd suggest other people to do the same.

I'm up to the challenge. i won't be bullied or chased away. If this is my chance to sell the game i love...   I want to point out that i already have. Re-read my first post. Notice the story i've told. I also mentioned the features i loved about it. Did you even read it?

I believe its a short and quick summary, interesting enough, to draw in the players looking for this type of game.

Even better question.......... How many threads have been made to get people to stay away from this game? *Glances at first page of the Mortal Online General Discussion.

I've added a small torch to the darkness of hate threads in this forum subsection. Try this game. You may like it. I'll defend this standpoint for as long as i choose.

HMMMM, short and quick is right. You do not mention skills, game control, combat arts, character customization, enviroment, details on the greatest crafting system in any MMO. I was once told this story of a woman who finally made it to "Who wants to be a millionair"

She sits down and Merrideth asks the first question.

"Which is larger, A. a peanut, B. a stack of hay, C. an elephant, D. the moon?

This poor woman ponders and ponders, then finally answers that it is a ver tough first question and she would like to use a life line.

    She picks 50/50

Answers A, and B go away. The woman responds by say oh darn, my answer was one of those two.

Still not sure of her answer she asks to phone a friend, the dumbfounded audience can not believe this woman is using life lines to answer the $100 first question.

So she calls her friend and in less than 10 seconds her friend tells her the moon is bigger than an elephant!

Still not comvinced she argues with her friend until time is up for the phone call and Merrideth then asks her for her answer.

She says you know my friend really isn't very smart, and I myself am still unsure of the answer so I would like to use my final life line and poll the audience.

100% of the audience picks the moon as being bigger.

Still not convinced the woman picks C. elephant and can not believe she is wrong.

    YES, THEY WALK AMUNG US!!

It was meant to be short and sweet. I only wanted to give people a sample of this great game. If they liked what they read and desire similar experiences, they can find them in Mortal Online.

My goodness friend. Did you seriously just type all of that out? Entertaining story but i don't see how it applies. I am not stupid for liking this game and neither would anyone else be if they played it as well.

This is exactly what i was referring to. This is how much energy is being put into the propaganda of hate for this amazing game.

Nice story but some quick googling and it turns out that this is all made up and that picture of the lady is photo shopped. Search and you will find the original question is asking what the common name of the trachea is.

I'm not one to hate on games or speak publically about how i dislike a game and the reasons behind it, although i certainly have opinions, i generally keep them to myself. My experience with MO is no different, BUT i will say this i do understand why some people may have negative things to say about Mortal Online. Like alot of people i purchased the game, i expected to get a decent product.... as far as im concerned this game is nothing but decent, its a bug ridden mess. Yea its not released yet, but with an end of month release date looming, there is little hope for it in its current state.

You mentioned Darkfall, i was there at the release of Darkfall and it wasnt great, there were some really bad de-sync issues for the first week or so, but thats is nothing compared to Mortal Online if it launches in its current state, anyone that says other wise is insane. If your enjoying the game and think your money was well spent all the power to you. As for me im hoping for the best for them but EXPECTING the worst. After all id like to get some use out of the money i dished out on it.

  • AethaerynAethaeryn Member RarePosts: 3,150

I had a post similiar to yours.  The game is a lot like that. . until you have that experience a few times and then you start looking around for something else to do.

The game is not "a complete mess" in my opinion.  I find it fun to play. . but it is the community possibilities that will make this game great. . or fail.  If they can't retain enough players after release then it just becaulse you chasing that same murderer around with the same friends. . that unique awesome experience is great. . a few times.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

  • Hmmm...I'm not exactly a "fan" of Mortal Online (call me a hater), what reason should I have for my "hating"?

I didn't purchase Mortal Online, I didn't get kicked or something. I just see a lot of wasted potential and very inexperienced developers. That is why I will advise anyone to try the beta first, but I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. And guess what? Apart from the bugs and the desync issue that still keeps me from playing very long, the thing that keeps me away the most is the community.

There is a difference between "jumping on the bandwagon" and "people observing an obvious truth". The game is a disaster. If it had more time and they fixed the more glaring flaws, yes, it could be good, but as it stands, its a trainwreck. You claim it's "not garbage" and that this is all "sensationalism" but you offer up no proof to the contrary when it's quite obvious to those of us who have actually played the game and through numerous reports of the current state of the game that it's not even remotely playable in its current state. For fucks sake, the lore/background text for the game isn't even finished, that shit is supposed to be ready pre-alpha. There are literally descriptions for three races and the rest have been "coming soon" for YEARS.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

You are simply twisting  the truth, to call it a proper name - you are lying.  MO IS broken an IS devoid of substance.  Anyone is free to find it out by downloading "beta" client.

If you like it in its current state, that only means that you are willing to accept subpar standarts.

But to post here claiming that MO is fine does disservice to your cause.  Also, no need to be so bombastic - I doubt that by such attitude you will recruit much support for MO:)
