As much as I hate to say it, this could be a positive thing for the genre. I will adamantly refuse to take any part in a MMO based on Michael Jackson (and what will an MMO based on Michael Jackson be about anyway??).
I assume it would be something similar to those online dancing games. Only this would be the online dancing game with Michael Jackson's name stamped on it. Tiger Woods golf games sell pretty well just because Tiger Woods put his name on the box.
There are some religiously fanatic Michael Jackson zealots in the world, and they would gladly part with every penny in their bank if it meant they were somehow supporting the dead, and deeply confused, musician.
Why would this be good? Well, as long as the game doesn't kill the MMO market, then it's good. It opens up new ideas to different developers, shows developers what some players are willing to pay for (hardcore MMO gamers likely will not buy into this MMOMJ), and brings in more fans and more funding.
I won't play MMOMJ, and foresee it being a terrible experience for anyone who even considers it. However, like I said, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Lets just hope the MMO genre survives a deeply disturbing experience like MMOMJ.
