On an xfx 750a sli motherboard can I use a 5850 graphics card effectively for a single card solution?

The mobo is an nvidia chipset also, i know no xfire is able but im not interested in sli or xfire atm.

It should work fine.  However, nVidia has a history of locking hardware.

Yes the 5850 will work fine in there. 'Nvidia chipset working better with nvidia' and 'amd chipset working better with ati cards' are myths, the ATI card will have no probs.

Agreed with the myths part.  My 2 gaming rigs are crossfire boards with nvidia cards.    Its pretty common actually.

Its the dual cards thas the issue. No real need to run dual cards when u cam just get a good ONE.
