When the combo back with Moria came out I purchased it but I did not play it much. Maybe I did not play it much because of my PC back then and/or the fact that I was heavily into WoW since I just started playing and I was in the 40s with my toon. Nevertheless I didn't really play; I never gave it a chance. Cut to a week ago with the $10 Siege Of Mirkwood deal. I bought it just because I didn't have Siegewood. I have been playing DF and FE and EvE for the past few months since I wanted a break from WoW (got my 1 and only toon to 80 and I like to take breaks) but I decided to give LOTRO a chance. Am I glad I gave LOTRO a chance. I am having a lot of fun. The character animations are a lot better than they were once. The response time for attacks is very responsive now. I had -no idea- how amazing the graphics of this game were. I am ver much enjoying myself. I play on Brandwine and I am, thus far, only level 11 Dwarf Guardian. My name is Betrayalfive if anyone wants to say hello. I am enjoying the scenery and I am actually reading the quests, which has been a very long time. The music is very soothing (though someimes too epic.....i mean do i really need epic music while killing a level 1 enemy?) but I am happily happy with making this my 'main mmo' for the time being. I intend on getting to 20 before next Satruday and I see it happening. Exploring is a lot more fun which makes leveling more slow since I am spenind too much time just looking at the terrain. If anyone is on Brandywine say hello and also: is there like a wowhead/thottbot for this game? Only wondering since I am a n00b with it I am happy that I resubbed.

I bought the $10 pack also, glad I did it. Playing it while I wait to test out Xsyon.
this is really great mmo and exactly why besides WoW and EvE that this game still grows in subscriber numbers. players get bored then try lotro and see that it really is fun mmo. pvp is not great but that only makes the pve better. i really enjoyed the farming craft where you actually plant seeds. that and there housing system and rich lore.
I also play on Brandywine. I am Vashgard of the Guardians of the Free People.
Do the people at Xsyon know you're playing another game?
I mean you do work for them.
There may be some hard feelings about that.
More on topic:
Welcome OP!
I am a lifer and have been around since beta with LOTRO. It is a very well done game that is very casual friendly.
I am a bit burned out on it and have taken a break but I am sure I will be back. LOTRO is one of the best out right now IMO.
No thottbot here, but there is a wealth of info on the official forums if you do a search or just ask in game. I play on Landroval, but have dabbled on Brandywine and the people there are top notch, well after the people on Landroval.

lol game devs are gamers themselves you would be surprised how many devs from other mmogs play other games.good example is craig morrisen the guy who runs Age of Conan now I used to play City of Heroes with him. Also I played Eq2 with a dev from Matrix online. And Ken Karl who was MS and over ahserons call 1 back in the day played Daoc with alot of us.
Umm, it wasn't a serious question but an inside joke between RLMcCoy and myself from the MO forums.
I wouldn't be surprised at all and have in fact played with devs within their own game, and with devs from other games.

Hater! Landroval is a socialist, marxist failier of a Nazi server!
Brandywine is the server of gamer values! You Landrovals are so elitist believe in "spreading the population around!"
Well, Landroval isn't MY server! REAL gamers play in places like Brandywine!
We all know Landroval wasn't even coded in the United States! It's not the legitimate server of LOTRO!
We all know O'Landroval is secretly a sandbox server posing as a themepark! Sent to destroy us from inside.
Umm....ok?

You won't understand until you put on the cool kids' hat.
My bad, I assumed you guys followed current events and could recognize parody. Think Palin and the baggers.
Next time, i'll try fart noises and referencing sit coms. Lol.
I think one of the great things about LOTRO is that you come away from it feeling good. It is a very relaxed type of game play, where other games (no names mentioned) you come away feeling frustrated and angry leaving your keyboard in tatters.
haha, I certainly did enjoy that satire Die
I really could kick myself for not getting a lifetime sub to this game. Great game and at this point I could have saved myself some money if I simply would have gotten that deal whan the game first launched.
Completely off topic I know but should be nothing new if you've read any of my other posts.
Anyways, gald you're enjoying the game op.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
It's still one of the best MMO's out there (and I have played a few now). It is a labor of love for the people that produce it.
