Need singleplayer RPGs and FPS/TPS

LotosSlayerLotosSlayer Member Posts: 247

I need some good RPGs and FPS/TPS games. The RPGs I've played are NWN, Oblivion(I didn't like this one too much, I think I prefer linear in singleplayer RPGs), and a bunch of console ones like all the Zeldas, FFs, etc. The FPS I've played are Deus Ex(my favorite), Max Payne, HL, HL2, Crysis, all the Hitman games, Mafia and a bunch more I can't remember. They should have a story that draws you in and keeps you wanting to see more. The game can be old and should have atleast Deus Ex graphics. I don't mind if there's not so much action(I took the stealth route in Deus Ex). There should be cutscenes, good text dialogue, or how they did it in HL2. Also, PC only. Thanks in advance.

You can pick up Mass Effect for $20.  Its a good story Sci-Fi RPG that was not on your list.  If you end up liking the story / gameplay then the sequel is also out.

Have you played the Dragon Age Sword/Magic RPG yet as well?

Try Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. Its a great action third person RPG and it has some amazing facial animations. Combat feels a little clunky, but the atmosphere makes up for it and then some.

This one might be a long shot, but if you havent already, play Valve's Portal. Not exactly a first person shooter, but I think its still within the genre. Also "kind of" like portal, Mirror's Edge. Its more like a first person platform game then a shooter, although there is combat and guns (though scarse) and I find it incredibly intense. The point of the game is not so much fighting but running. Running away from cops. Its very fast and tense.

Also third person, I recommend two other games: Beyond Good and Evil and Psychonauts. Beyond Good and Evil is just a great story with great characters. Psychonauts lies more on the comedy side. And you can set squirrels on fire.

You are really doing yourself an injustice if you don't run out and get this game now. Forget about DAO and many of the over hyped shite that BioWare keep churning out,get yourself a real mature RPG that has a brilliant game-play and great story that changes all the time based on what you do.

The Witche EE is without douht the best RPG of the last decade,it's briiliant.

And now we have the sequel coming later this year or early 2011,it's going to be the best RPG ever.

New trailer for "The Witcher 2 Assasin Of Kings.

If you have a PS3 Uncharted 2 is an absolute must play.  It's one of those games that really deserves all the praise it gets.  And while we're on the subject of Playstation...  Give Demon's Souls a go.  It's brutally hard but a really rewarding old school action RPG.

Surprised no one has mentioned Borderlands yet.  I have it for the PS3, and honestly it's the one game I've been playing consistently since xmas when I got it.  Lots of customization, the whole loot whore feel, the DLC packs are crazy fun (although I haven't picked up the most recent one, heard the enemies don't scale with the new levels, kinda puts a damper on the game for me).  But for real, definitely try it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gunna get Mass Effect, Vampire Masquerade The Bloodlines, Mount and Blade, Metro 2033, Bioshock, DA:O, and The Witcher.

Also, which games from these are the best? Baldurs Gate series, The Elder Scrolls series, Kotor series, The Longest Journey.

Gears of War, the original, not sure if the online community still exists, but I know  it was a pretty damn good game.

This is a "MMO" site, not a Single player rpg site. Well, maybe it is "Off Topic" material in the least. :)

Risen is a very good RPG. I enjoyed that one a lot. Dragon Age was pretty good too, although my attention got diverted by something else part way through and I could never get back into it for some reason. In fact Risen and Dragon Age seem to be complete opposites of each other within the RPG category in terms of gameplay. Both have good dialogue, interesting characters, cut scenes and story telling........but Dragon Age goes a little overboard by having more cut scenes than actual gameplay (admittedly they are good cut scenes) while Risen allows you to roam around and freely explore a game world. I guess it depends on your preference I suppose. Both are good.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a stunning FPS game. I cant recommend it enough. Watch some good quality game footage on youtube.

Aw sh** yeah!  Definitely worth a play if you're a fan of the GTA style game.
