Best F2P Game

I myself don't play F2P's besides the occasional return to Mabinogi, just because there's no other game (F2P or P2P) like it. But in the past 2 years there has been some good quality F2P's released, as well as some P2P's taking the F2P model. What's your choice for the best F2P?

Playing - EVE, Wurm

Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi

Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

probably TCoS, it wasnt really that bad as a P2P game, so I assume it must billions of times better than most F2P games...

    DDO.

If we include all of AO not just the froob stuff that would win.

Yeah, I'm with you OP on this one, Mabinogi is the best. (minus Nexon and its kiddie community of course)

--  No level restriction of weapon/armor.  I can wear my favorite equipment through eternity.  Equipment proficiency goes up the  more you use them.

--  Can go treasure hunting in an open world using metal detector (called L-rod in game).

--  Fly hot-air balloon and use its ballista on wyverns or go rafting in a river.

--  Most equipments can be dyed, so great customization.

    --  Storyline is there.

--  Great in-game music (every npc and every zone has its own BGM)

--  Can compose your own music and play in game.

--  Lots of graphic details and great animation.

--  Historical flavor in armors and weapons (do other developers take history lessons before making medieval based games??)

--  Not a clone to any other existing mmo.

It has both depth and scope.  Just check their mabinogi wiki site and you'll see the depth of it.  The only anime about it is face of your character, and that's easily taken care of by helmets and masks.  Grinding?? Nah, rebirth system takes care of that.

The only mmorpg (sub or f2p) that will ever pull me from this game is Mount & Blade Online, if that's ever going to be made.

Atlantica is the one that has kept my interest by far the longest, earning the most game time from me of any F2P game - and the most money, too.

The main factor is that the turn-based, squad-based play is actually something different to the mass of fantasy MMOs out there. I can't see the point of playing a tab-targetting button-bar-masher like Runes of Magic or Allods when I could just play WoW and have it done better.

Mabinogi here! Though Dungeon Fighter Online is pretty great too.

I dont really think they are any good f2p games so i voted for runescape because it had that free servers way before most of the other games existed and it has the second biggest active subs next to wow.  I dont think any thing good can come out from asia so i would never vote for a grinder/slasher game.

Anarchy is good but the free section was just a desperate attempt to get new players.  Funcom never tried to make it fun to stick around and if you do stick around don't expect to see any free updates for years.  They treat it as like an unlimited trial where as other games on the list actually cater to the free croud to keep them intrested.

My vote goes to Perfect World. Matter of fact I am downloading now to see how the game has changed since last time I played.

My vote goes to Atlantica. You've gotta get through 7 levels, which isnt to difficult, to begin to get a real appreciation for the game.  It is certainly the most unique out of your list, and makes you think differently about mmorpg game-play.  I just dont appreciate any game that is bot infested, like perfect world, which was my experience.

Striving for Silver Stars since Gold is so effeminate.

Atlantica would be ok but its too shallow and repetive which is why it gets boring fast. I want to be able to freely move my character around an Open game world at all times. Bots have nonthing to with how good a game is. Every game has bots but you will never see in a mmo review where they talk about it because it has nonthing to with the game it self.

I take it you've never heard of Silkroad Online? :P Servers are overpopulated because of bots, forcing non-payers to either wait for some room, or leave the game.

That said, I have to agree about Atlantica. Each part of the storyline is basically a copy of the previous chain of quest....with different NPCs.

Also, if you really want an "Open World", give Mabinogi a try. It's basically a "sandbox-y" F2P MMORPG (Gameplay takes a while to get used to)

Your calling atlantica shallow yet you voted for perfect world? need i say more. Atlantica is probably the only f2p game that requires half a brain to actually beat high end bosses or be good in pvp.

From ones I have played on that list Atlantica for sure. I don't really play F2P games anymore I also don't really like them because well they are free but boring. Some F2P games are good though.

I vote for atlantica.  because all the mmorpg is similar.  this one is actually different.

it's pretty much the only turn based mmo on the market.

I tried to like it... it has a lot of features and content, but the combat is so clunky and boring. Plus I have a hard time seeing any difference between it and the other 500 Asian grinders.

Perfect World is the first ever FTP game that when it released was compared to Pay To Play mmo games. It has every feature you will find in any AAA pay to play mmo on the market. I use to play it about 3 years ago so I dont know how it is today but I enjoyed that game much better than Atlantica. If I want to play a stratagy game I would go play a real statagy game. Atlantica is ok but it not nearly as huge and succesful at Perfect World.

I'd say DDO, even though I hate the setting... if it was Forgotten Realms I'd be all up in it.

I'd say Runes of magic... addicted to it right now.
