Right. Lights of people think APB should be a P2P I agree but so far the makers have said it is going to be a F2P
wich won't please alot of people because they think the only F2Ps are cash shopped internet downloaded games.
GOOD F2Ps
but the thing is not all F2Ps are like that. Some arn't F2P att all but no sub and still succesfull. Take GW for examplesimple. Buy it play it. The extra things that u can get like Grenth and Dwayna costumes for £2 or so don't affect game playthey don't give any extra protection no bonuses so it is not unfair to other players who don't want to waist their money becausethey already bought the game for £15 or £16 already. GW has made it so it has a cash shop for those who like cash shopsand no subs but still get to do evreything in the game and complete it. Only EXTRA missions cost some money and USELESS costumes that just add to your look cost money. But overall evreything is even. With no renting. The Arena.Net business has even gone on to make 3 additional games from the original and are making a hole new game that will cost alot to make.how did they get the money. Read above. SO if u didn't choose F2P i think u would prefer it to be this type of F2P wouldn't u.
BAD F2P
Bad F2Ps take for example Bots are games that u have to spend £2 to rent some armour or weapons for 1 month and the price increases for the amount of time u want to keep it. CASH SHOPS SUCK! FULL STOP. That's why people think all F2Ps are crap because of most being internet downloaded Cash shopped games that will cost u more in the end than a subscription feed game that u don't have to rent gear on or finish the game buy spending more money when the game is so called a F2P. Do u want this on APB
Why P2P is good and bad
P2Ps are good and bad because they sometimes are not thisame quality as the money u pay in a year witch can be £179.88in a year but some can be good. but still cost more than GW in a year when GW is equally as goodP2Ps are good when they actually are P2P on a good game but bad when they are P2P on a crap game and so far APB looks like a good game
So do u want APB to be P2P,F2P original or F2P GW style?
Comments
Pay 2 play othervise you just need money to be better than everyone else.
pay 2 play - as above...also p2p is cheaper than f2p anyways..
Yh Yh Yh. u didn't read properly WOW costs around £178 and GW just costs u £15- £50mattering if u buy things. The things cost low amount and are not rented. They stay with u foreverbut the makeover thing on GW is 1 time use but u would need to buy it like 20 times to be close to the price of WoW. Plus most P2Ps are cheaper than P2Ps. do your research first dude.
GW 1 yr- £50
WoW 1 year- around £178
GW 2 yr- £50
WoW 2 yr- £356
GW 3 yr- £50
WoW- 3 yr- £534
Get the point?
I'm one of those who is very excited about what APB has to offer. However, I am concerned that the game will not have enough in terms of content and general game play to warrant a monthly sub.
They have already stated that they are going the Guild Wars route with the game. You buy the client, you play online with no additional cost. But, if you read the statement carefully they have alluded to the idea of additional benfits either through subscription or other methods.
I purchased Global Agenda when it was released, and while it is a decent game I for one would have been very PO'd if I had to pay a monthly sub for what was being offered. I think they realized this may have been the case with consumers as well and caused them to change the pay structure prior to its release.
As cool as many of the concepts in APB sound, there is still only so much you can do in a free-roaming GTA-style game. My vote is for basic F2P, with optional P2P for expanded content and game play elements. Not sure how that would work out, but I certainly don't want to see APB turn into the trainwreck known as CrimeCraft.
Rent-A-Hero u seam to be saying that APB should have a Runescape like apeal to it wich could work very well.
lol , guild wars with all expansions doesnt even last a year , the longest it can last is 6 months if you are a fan of that horrible horrible game ... also for wow you pay for quality game not some kinda singleplayer asian grindfest !
Well, I haven't tried Runescape, so I can't really comment on their structure. However I do see revenue avenues available to APB beyond the base game that wouldn't "break" the game world.
They could tack on a cash shop that would offer things like expanded design elements for the in-game graphic design tools, or music samples for the music editor. Other players would receive the data through updates so they could see/hear them on others, but would be locked out from using them (unless they pay for them, of course). They have said that player housing won't be in the initial release but is being considered for the future. Buying a personal space or gang pad could be an option as well, along with all the furnishings that one may wish to put inside. F2P accounts could visit such locations but would be unable to be added to a list that would allow them to edit the environment, if it were gang housing for instance.
I understand people's issues with cash shops as they can, and have, unbalanced other games, but so long as the items offered are primarily for decorative purposes (such as bling'ing out a gun in gold finish) they should be fine to implement.
Again great points thisame as the first point i made because of the unfair advantages of some players for spending a bit more players wich is unfair to some players who just don't have the money right now. Your points are great. Cash shops only work if they are for decorative purposes or personal preferenses like facial detail changes from original creation of your character. Wich is what GW has done. If APB becomes that kind of cash shopped game then it would be great. I'am still not going to want it if it is downloaded from internet. I prefer games that u buy in a disk than downloaded.
Overall i think if APB is going to take on F2P properly it needs either GW style or its own style like what u have just said.
Did they say APB was going to F2P?? I might have missed that, can you post a link with the info please?
Thanks.
from what you said, you have probably never even played GW. a grindfest? are you kidding me? the game is the defention of a non-grinding game and all the expansion packs dont even last a year? wtf are you talking about? also Guild Wars isnt even asian!

(> <) This is Bunny. Bunny is on his way to world domination!
For this type of game I'd almost perfer just buy to play. One time fee sounds about right for it with perhaps very few micro transaction options ( like aesthetics).
I really enjoyed the GTA:SA "cops and robbers" mod so I'd almost go P2P on this type of game but it would have to be REALLY good with no sort of micro transaction garbage involved. Though I believe I read about there being ways where you can buy custom music from other players with real money or something of the sort.
I just hope it actually delivers (can't really compare the two but crimecraft was a massive failure), though I'm already a bit dissapointed that they're only handing out keys to EU. I hope they have a open beta period then because I'm not so sure if I'm going to fork out 60 bucks just to try it and not like it (Saved myself 60 bucks with crimecraft), especially if they go with a monthly subscription.
Dude what are u on. Get of the crack it isn't good for your life or your gaming. Stop bashing on GW just cause u know WoW was out done in the paying system. U don't need a endless stroy line to be a good MMO. Dude have you actual took a minute and played the damn game properly. See behind all the awards, Subscribers, facts, and money the game has. Behind that wall u will see a GAME! not quality game just a GAME!. cod is great withought subscription fees. Your paying to play a game in 10 years you could have bought yourself some nice stuff with the money u spent evrey month on a vertual reality thing. WoW is not the best game in the world it is as good as FF and all other sub games. GET OVER IT!
GW like paying system is the way forward people.
Bye bye Subs
bye bye F2P with extra stuff that make it unfair on poor people.
Hello new generation of Pay once and extra stuff that only make look good killing stuff.
I'm hoping this is a B2P game or a F2P with cash shop items that dont affect gameplay. I don't think it will go over well as a P2P. At it's core, the game is a shooter. Most people will not pay a sub fee for an FPS, so I don't see them doing it for this. Also, from what I remember reading, this game doesn't have an open world. Sure, 100 vs 100 (pretty sure it was 100 or 200 per map) is a lot of people, but there is a game called MAG which does the same thing, and doesn't have a sub fee.
On top of the fact that this is a shooter, I think many people are sick of buying MMOs and wasting $50-$60 on the box, but then the sub fees and not totally enjoying the game in the end. I'm hoping this is a B2P game that I can hop on and not feel that I need to play more because I'm paying monthly.
Pay to play.
I generally have more fun on Pay to play. They're are generally of better quality. I rather have an up front cost, rather than charging for a new car, gun, etc.
Rift
This is not entirely true. APB however will require you to pay for the box, that is for certain. Chances are fairly decent that they will be launching this game at some point on a console. With that in mind, you'll notice that pending console releases such as DCUO will not be requiring monthly fee's. Instead, buying the box and further DLC's , Content Updates, or Microtransactional items is more the focus and has been proven to be successful on consoles. GuildWars also uses this model and has done well too.
What this doesn't mean is that all games will be this way in the future. TOR will definitely use a monthly fee, though their content is supposedly so vast that it would take you multiple months to finish a single characters story based content. Other companies will most likely follow this direction to an extent. Meanwhile, alternate methods to generate revenue will be seen as more companies compete on and for the console market, as well as the current MMO market.
I did not mean it literaly. I ment this is the way forward. like waht youhave just explained except in less words and less logic and sence behind it.
Do you think it is more quality just because your paying for it? because that's waht happens to alotof people with P2P games
u think hmm this thing costs alot of money to keap paying. It must be good then. WIth free games you think. Hey it is free it must be crap. I prefer P2Ps better not because they are of great quality but because they keep primary school kids away. wich no code or rule to do with any game can seem 2 do. but I don't like people bashing on F2P and/or B2Ps. just put your damn answer and don't insult the other options.
I think there should be a payment to download the game, but no monthly supscription.
like guildwars..
With a cash shop you are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. The game has to be designed around making you buy things, if it was playable completely free why would they run it? They are in business to make money, not pals. Where as a P2P game is designed to keep you paying. Even if some companies are not so good at it the whole idea is customer retention. The games that retain best usually have loads of free, worthy content of some meaning or value. If it is a F2P game not along the lines of GW (I do not see how they can apply that business model to this game but hey could be wrong), as in it contains a cash shop, I'll most likely be a sad fat guy and skip it. I will be sad about it though.
I don't see why not. I've played both, they feel like you're playing the same game. Combat wise, both are horrible.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
payment for download is like STEAM. I bought Dragon age origins(pre-ordered so I had to pay extra for extra stuff) Modern warfare2, Borderlands and company of heroes but i couldn't downloadthem my internet was 2 slow so i wasted that money. I think retail AND download would be best. Tell me if that was what u where trying to say.
Have yet to play APB's beta, but I have to disagree that both APB and CrimeCraft are essentially the same. There are definitely similarities in some aspects but the biggest draw for potential gamers outside of the graphic design/music tools is the fact that combat can be instigated outside of an instance, unlike CC.
Yes, APB will have instances as well for larger conflicts, but the free roaming aspect of single player GTA-style games is there as well, again, unlike CC.
Ultimately, players don't want an instance based game with a social lobby system like Global Agenda or CrimeCraft. People want the ability to engage in social or combative activities in a relatively seamless environment. Having to jump from one to the other all the time creates a real disconnect between the two and destroys any sort of immersion in the game. Hopefully the developers at RTW understand this and are doing what they can to minimize it.
If I may ask, what exactly was it about APB's combat that you felt was not up to standard? I have played CC, so if you reference that I'll have a general understanding of the mechanics.
APB will not have mandatory micro-transactional offerings so that means cash shops are going to be in it right?
It sais subs are not mandatory on the website. That means there will be subs. So people thatpay them might get advantage in game.
I think the main difference here between APB and the typical F2P MMO (from Korea, China, etc.) is that there is already revenue generation right from the get go, just like Guild Wars.
APB will be sold as a retail product. The client will NOT be free to download (like CrimeCraft). Additional revenue through tiered subscriptions or cash shops will be just that, additional revenue. You've bought the client, so the developer/publisher has already made some money back on their investment.
Since APB is primarily a skill based game than a gear/stats game I think it's relatively safe to assume that there won't be much in the way of sold items that could grossly unbalance game play. If you already suck at FPS/TPS/Driving games, there isn't much that can be added to immediately make you suck less.
Time will tell...
