Spellborn is a fun game especially if you like hack n slash style, but it'll be pretty much single player at this point. Didn't see anyone on at all last time I hopped on the PvP server a few days ago The quests are decent though, better than quests in most other games atleast, so it wouldn't be a bad game to run through solo or with a group of friends as a coop rpg before the game closes. I know they said it is being redeveloped, but thats been up there for almost a year without any updates on whats been going on. They recently tested their redeveloped F2P model in Asia and it was a bust. I think it closed down already even. I'd love to see it actually survive though as it was one of the most unique/funnest mmos I've played. I might test out the PvE server to see if that has some life still.
Aika looks like it has some fun PvP mechanics. I haven't tried the PvP out yet though. The PvE feels like a typical Asian game but its quest heavy and hasn't seemed to take that long to level. I'd still say its worth giving a try even if the gameplay videos were a turn off to you.
Allods is the f2p I'm playing the most right now. Really like the atmosphere of that game. I'm only 23 in that so just getting to the PvP stuff, so not much experience on that yet. From what I've seen though, levels and gear > skill. I know lots of mmos these days are like that, but from the sound of it, this game is even more so, so I might be disapointed. Still been sticking with it though as I have been having fun. I've only had time to play games a few hours a week lately, so this game has been good for that. Once I start having time to game again more regularly, probably going to ditch the F2P games and play P2P again. F2P games just look a little pricey if you play them alot.
Yeah I agree with you on Spellborn , I saw a couple of gameplay videos and it looked like a great game ,the thing that I really liked was the fact that gear doesn't have an impact on damage and defence so it's all about skill and levels while gear is just for decorating your character.But yeah I also saw that it's single player nowadays since there are no people on the servers and it's really a shame that such a great game is being destroyed. But I saw a thread where there were calls for grouping in games , so who knows maybe someone will suggest we bring the game back alive x)....
As for Allods and Aika the gameplay videos I saw were a big turn off , the graphics really sucked , idk if the guys who played em had weak pcs ,but the graphics and the skill animations were awful .
DDO, which a lot of people recommended,turn's out to be free in NA only :S and I'm from EU so I can't play the free version only the monthly subscription one .
So taken all that in consideration I chose S.U.N. :S , the graphics were great , the skills ...let's say they're OK too , but gameplay :S I reached lvl 16 and played a berseker and got my ass owned like at least 20 times :S ,I kept getting killed because anything you come across by attacks you , even the low level monsters ,and you can't escape because they're like much faster than you :S , the so called dungeons suck I entered one 5 times and I couldn't finish it because it was bugged or something , I read the guide and it still didn't help :S
So taken all that in consideration idk what to do :S I might try and download aika . allods or ROM because I just read the review on MMOHut and they described them as High Graphic quality :S idk if they're blind or I saw the wrong vids and pictures :S
