Haha who would *want* an all boys guild? Aside from gay guys.

Honestly, it makes sense. Female gamers can form an all female guild and be relatively free from harassment (computer seem to strip males of their social graces.) An all male guild for the same reason is pointless. Males aren't being hit on or harassed. Of course, someone will come back with some anecdotal "Oh yeah?!? I was harassed!" story, but that guy can be found in almost any thread.

I've been playing MMOs since '98 (UO) and have seen many, many women unfairly harassed. I've yet to see it happen to a male just because they were male.

Women on men harassment is real.

I have to say though, I've met some of the most violent women whilst playing games lol, amazon like women I mean.

Then again I've met plenty of nice women also. Just the same ratio of guys to aggressive guys I guess.

Some of the worst players I have ever met are other female gamers.    Plus they can be the stingiest, most crude, rude and obnoxious players you'll ever meet.   For the cherry on top - some are so catty they'll eat their own to stay on top.    Saw this happen in guild recently in WoW.   One girl accusing another of ninja looting and then the other accusing her of trying to steal her live in bf who played in the guild and this all took place in open general chat after the guild leader who is female kicked the one girl.      In vent it got seriously nasty before all this went down on general chat in Dalaran...and I was merely a guest to one of their raids when all this took place.   It was insane.

Another female gamer I use to raid with was recently ostracised by the server for starting raids only for her benefit and then bailing when she got what she wanted.    Now she cannot find a guild nor can she raid - she is in the process of switching servers.

Yes there are many females that play WoW.   There is two in the guild I am in and six in our sister guild and four more in a guild we frequently raid with.   So yeah...lots of females play WoW - just be careful, some are real catty Lohans.

Anyone who doesn't want a lot of drama.

As a woman, I hate to say it because it reflects negatively upon my gender, but as a guild leader (been in guild leadership for seven years now and worked my way up to it from the bottom - and was elected unanimously to the guild leader position the first time I was given the position), it has been my experience that 80% of the worst guild drama I have seen was caused by women.

That is not to say that men cannot or do not cause drama - they most certainly do and have in my experience, but the ratio of male drama queens in my years of guild leader (and member) experience is 20% male, 80% female.

I have seen guilds not allow women in just to stop drama from happening. Teala gave a good example why they are not let in.

ALso I have seen a lot of jealusy happen in guilds because of one guy would hook up with a girl. Then the guild falls apart from there.

My wife is very friendly and supportive. In WOW she even goes out of her way to help the horde players. 'O_o'

But she also socializes in her job. And when she gets online she cares nothing for the chat window and just wants to hunt, and explore.

I think the tells would get to anyone after a bit.

Also, many assume she wants to play a support class. But she does not. She likes tanks and damage dealers. She states she doesn't want to be in the back, she wants to be up close and smacking out the damage.

So we need to not generalize when it comes to men and women. As a medic for over 27 years of my life. I like to play the support roles. :P

As for Drama, men are just as guilty as women. It is the whole I can piss farther than you kind of situation. With men you have huge Egos with a mouth to back them up.

I have found playing with women the game time is much more enjoyable. But maturity is also a large factor in these kind of dealings as well.

My wife started as a healer.

I wanted someone to heal me so I tricked her into playing one. She caught on to my scheming ways and played a mage.

Then she decided she liked healing so she rolled a priest. Priests had a hard time leveling back then so she made me help her level.

Then she rolled a druid alt and decided she liked that more. This lead to her tanking and dps'ing. This is where we are now.

Sometimes when healing she would let me die on purpose.

*snicker*  They are all quite lovely.  Very nice ladies.  Didn't mean to imply that I believed you thought otherwise, hehe. ;)

I'd actually considered joining NS for a while a few years back when I first transferred to Starsider (in '07, I think?) but ultimately went with a smaller guild based on Lok because I hit it off extremely well with the members (and they didn't mind that I had Rebel alts, so long as I didn't PvP on the Rebel alts, which I didn't since they were crafters and I'm not that insane).

I know a bit about the Mandalorians, being a Star Wars fan myself (actually, my friends call me a Star Wars nerd ;) ).  I think I've heard of you guys as well, come to think of it.  Maybe I'll look y'all up when I resub next month on my Armorsmith to help out a friend and teach him how to be a decent armorsmith (he's having a bit of trouble sorting the crafting system out in terms of what to look for in armorsmithing mats, so I promised him I'd log in and give him a hand after my vacation). :)

Google us, we're the first on the list. :)

We generally pick up in activity in summer, we get a nice guild war/crusade going and it gets us all fired up lol. I think we tried to find a RP/PVP group to fight last year but it didn't work out too well as few wanted to back up the RP, ahwell.

It's been a good few years for us aswell, with armor appearance tabs, the addition of crusader armors. It all added to getting the right 'look'.

Yeah I know the life of a star wars nerd lol. You know it's got you when everyone in guild greets you and speaks in Mando'a quite often.

I honestly don't think about how many women are playing the game I enjoy.  If they do, good for them and I'm happy they found something they like.  What I do have issues with are the men I play games with who are playing with women.  I cannot count the times that a woman joins a guild or a group and immediately guys are falling all over themselves to "help" this person.  It's what I call the "hero complex" whereby guys start acting like this person's knight in shining armor.  Seriously, get a **cking grip.  It has been my experience that this kind of behavior drives women out of guilds and groups because they just want to enjoy the game like everyone else without all that jazz.  I'm with the other posters here, don't care if you're male or female, just want you to know what you're doing and have fun.

Not always true. I divorced my ex, but it had absolutely nothing to do with games and everything to do with a lot of other really good reasons. ;)

I think Ryzom has a lot of gals too, mature gals. All others I've played kinda appeal more to men, I guess, apart from WoW. Actually, EQ2, don't know about that.

I would think a game like EVE would have a small female population.

    Any websites track gender numbers?

Yup -  We're taking WoW over one server at a time.

We have female only guilds, we have pink tabards and yes when we get on vent we do nothing but talk about shopping, shoes and how the last time we got our nails done how great they looked right after but like 2 days later they've completely gone to hell.

And no, we don't have a clue how to play the game, I personally just push random bottoms and hope something goes right; who knew if you got 25 of us on the lich king doing the same thing mr. frostbite would go down so easily... iknowright?

Oh and if you don't play WoW and play some other more complicated, convoluted, "technical" game like eve, or runscape or whatever to like... get away from us. Don't bother man, just don't bother. We're all over the place.

We have our pink mouses, our pink keyboards, t-shits that spell the word Girl in like 50 different ways (i.e.: Girlz, Gurls, Gurlz, G!lrz, Gu!z, etc, etc), we have our bras, our tampons, make up, spare sweater in case it's cold (it doesn't matter where we're going, it could always be cold) and we're going to take over... oh yeah, we're taking over.

    Oh yeah by the way.

    Farmville is... AWESOME!

Get in the kitchen and ...

Wait! Put down the knife, I didn't mean it!

LOL - You wouldn't want me in the kitchen and I wouldn't know the first thing about how to use a knife in there either :).

EQ had many female players when I played.  They were a minority, but a significant percentage of the server.  Most were part of a family unit, husband and wife playing together and sometimes with their kids.

The MMO community is not family friendly these days, so I doubt that this still happens in many games today.

Seriously, when I'm playing EVE all I care about is that my corpie can lock quick, get a tackle and fire at optimal. I dont care whether they are men, women or six sex-dwarfs sharing a keyboard as long as they STFU when the fleet commander is giving an order.
