Dude that's some crazy shit all that just to do what I can do with a wireless 360 controller?
We're talking gaming here bro not PC internet functions.
Holding a controller> Having your setup and getting wife aggro and being on defensive mode from the kids and the dog.
You must not be married or have kid/pets lol That setup is stricktly bachelor.
Um, I'm 34 and our kids are grown. She introduced me to MMO's, who do you think figured this set up out?
Her tower and such is at the other end of the sectional. She uses a wireless 360 style controller when playing racers sometimes. Really the only argument we ever have is which of us is using the bigger screen when we're both gaming.
My advice regarding spouse aggro: Marry the right person.
YOU....are awesome.
And I totally agree with the last sentence. And yes....I'm married (to another gamer), 46 years old, my children are gone, with the exception of one (he's 20 and doesn't game), and we don't have a console in the house other than a beat up old Gamecube from when my oldest son used to use it.
This thread has evolved into a "which is better....PC or console" argument and....from having seen a MILLION of those here on MMORPG.com....that conversation is about as futile as a "what is the best MMO" thread.
I loathe console gaming. I dabbled in it when my kids were younger with SNES, Dreamcast, Gamecube, etc...and my oldest son has an XBOX 360 at his house that I've played on. I just like the PC better. For FPS I think it's more accurate and you have more precise control. I think the graphics are far better (although I know over time that technology will even the score completely there). Regardliess....I will always be a PC gamer.
I'm just not fond of lounging on a couch all day. For me....that just makes the entire gaming experience remind me of fat men with bags of cheese puffs and beer and shirts stained with cheese dust from the cheetos or whatever, with beard stubble, sweaty underarms and cavemen attitudes. No thank you.
I'm 6 foot 130. Just because I prefer video games and cartoons to say... pick up football and ESPN doesn't mean I can't find a shower. Though I still laugh at the stereotype on South Park's Warcraft episode everytime I fold up the lap tray.
My wife and I are completely unappologetic about our lifestyle. You only get one go round, do whatever it is that you want to do, not someone else.
At least I'm not a total savage, I still use coasters on the end tables. XD

ROFLMAO! Oh that made me laugh so hard!
And I apologize for inferring that male gamers are like that....I certainly didn't mean ALL of them! LOL It's just the image that is conjured up in my head when I think of console gamers. I'm nuts....so take that for what it's worth.
man ive been out of mmo world for so long. been playing ps3.. tekken 6 online and demon souls. getting super sf4. look back at my mmos days.... why the heck i wasted so much time on it? on something so boring. i dont know. just reality check. see if someone is out of mmo world like me.
And your not wasting time playing PS3 then? Please dont make me laugh. I play mmo almost everyday and I also work and I also do exercise almost every single day. Just sitting at home playing mmo, drinking coca cola and eating crap food now that is bad to say the least. But everyone will find out in their own way and in their own time.
I'll accept the premise that PCs are a little stuck on MMOs. The genre has killed all notion of multiplayer RPGs that aren't MMOs, and I am bitter about that.
I will not accept that any console is a step up.

Tekken Six Online is garbage compared to the likes of World of Warcraft.
LOL give me a case of beer, my nice plush black leather sofa, wide screen and my 360 and all those PC advantages mean dick.
Other than playing MMOs and the rare Rts I find it extremely uncomfortable to huddle myself over a PC screen for extended gaming session.
You can have your mods and higher resolutions I would rather chill on my sofa than in my PC room.
Um... I'm sitting on my sofa looking at the 52 inch in the living room which is currently displaying this as I type. Your 360 comfort argument is invalid.
This argument is just as inaccuare at your pro and con list.
Using a mouse and keyboard to play on a sofa is very uncomfortable. Also, PC games are not optimized to be played on a big screen sitting far away. They are optimized to be played on a smaller screen.
It is a myth that plugging in an Xbox 360 controller offers you the same experience an Xbox 360 does. In most cases, it doesn't. Most games are not optimized to be played with a controller, and this is more than just button layout. The only games which provide you a somewhat similar experience are multiplatform games, and even then there are many games which are still not optimized for controller on a pc.
Most genres that work really well with a controller are barely even present on the PC.

You've already missed the couch discussion. My list stands. You not being able to get passed the limited functionality of an XBox is your issue, not mine. You seem to be confusing PC for Mac. Button layout is irrelevent, I have near infiite possible setups and devices to choose from, you have controller modes a, b and c.
What color is the sky in your world? Clearly you're from some mirror universe in which fact vs. fiction is all reversed from how reality works.

If you are so out of the MMO world why are you here posting
So he can pat himself on the back for "getting out of that rut that we're all still 'stuck' in", is the overtone I got from it. Self-edification; you see that a lot around here, in different forms.
@the OP: Why do you put it in that specific context? Who says anyone is "stuck" in MMOs, simply because you've chosen to stop playing them? Maybe we... Oh, I dunno... *enjoy* playing MMOs, and aren't "stuck" in them at all?
And here's another wild concept for you to chew on - some people play PC games (including MMOs) *and* console games.
"If you just step away for a sec you will clearly see all the pot holes in the road, and the cash shop selling asphalt..." - Mimzel on F2P/Cash Shops
At the end of the day, PC gamers and PS3 gamers are all doing the same thing. They're sitting in a chair moving polygons around a computer screen. The only difference is PC gamers have the delusion that what they're doing makes them in some way intelectually superior to the console crowd.
Wow... is this flavor of over-generalized "us vs them" BS still being thrown around?
I'm a PC gamer, and I don't consider myself at all "intellectually superior" to anyone because of it, regardless of what they play. Anyone who presumes any degree of "intellect" of someone based on what type of games they play is icredibly ignorant, IMO.
People play what they play because they find it entertaining, and that's all that should be assumed of anyone... in my opinion.

This thread, in all it's magnificence, has inspired me to go on a quest to find one of the world's top Fishing websites. Once there I shall commence my post history by starting a thread with the following title:

I didn't miss the couch discussion at all, your argument was just poor. You need a tray just to put your keyboard and mouse on. You don't need anything like that with a console controller. When it comes to comfort, the console clearly wins.
Your list is terrible. You left out advantages of the consoles and made inaccurate statements. For example, consoles also have a flight stick. Many of your so called pros have nothing to do with gaming and don't require a gaming PC.
I said it goes beyond button layout. A console game version is often different in terms of design. This is especially the case with shooters, where the console version has hitboxes and enemy AI optimized for a controller, while the PC has the game optimized for a mouse and keyboard.
You guys are hanging around a forum that revolves around complaining and bitching about how bad/boring/simplistic/generic/unevolving the mmo genre is but then you go all apeshit when someone points out how mmos blow?
Real gamers pick convenience so they can focus purely on gaming. Long live consoles.
"This game sucks" is trolling, and should be moderated.
"This genre sucks" is what the OP did, which is the exact same thing.
"This genre sucks for these well-presented reasons" is not trolling, and the type of discussion which should happen here.
To recap: There's trolling, and there's discussion. This thread is not discussion.

It reminds me of sandbox vs. themepark, honestly. For a guy like me who plays both, I just sit back and enjoy the show. Same position on console vs. PC for me.
