Umm.. there are only 2 reviews there that were made after the game was released.. unless I'm looking at something different than you. And out of the two reviews, one of them didn't even get the game yet, and just talks about preordering.

I bought the game assuming it would be great.
What a waste of money
But to be fair, it depends what you want right now... i just don't want another boring grind, although i had a ton of fun in grind games previous to this. I just grew out of it, but have fun to those people who enjoy grinding.
Hey wait a second there... How can you call him a fanboi right after he said he bought the game expecting it to be great?
There are already a lot of posts on this forum by people who've become disillusioned with EQ2 and I think a lot of the reason why is because there's a more fun alternative when there wasn't before.
MMORPGs used to be all about grind, but now that only applies to the vast majority of them.
EQ2 is a relatively fun game, I beta tested, and have played since it went gold. I have personally have some run ins with major account problems and have had to remake characters, so that has probably affected my feelings about this game. It is fun game the first time when you experience freeport or queynos, but a second or third trip through is very boring, always the same. You end up getting the same quests and you only have two choices for starting points. If they allowed you to start in various different cities like EQ1, then it would not be such a grind. The combat is very boring, you end up doing the same heroic moves every combat. Two many quests requiring you to kill specific mobs that are over camped by other players (at least during primetime when I play). The game does have excellent graphics, is very fun the first time through, and there is plenty to do. All in all, I will keep on with my current character (fourth incarnation of the same toon), but the replay value of this game is far less than most mmorpgs. This definately ends the arguement about more than 4 character slots imo. The game would be really boring to level up 4 characters.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
Hey Shobu. I got into every stage of WoW beta and it sucked. The game blows. Do you believe me cuz I posted it? I guess posting makes it true. Did I also mention I'm John Smedley?
If you didn't like WoW then yes, of course I believe you. We're all entitled to our opinions.
I'm not sure exactly what point you're trying to make but if you're trying to say that my opinions are invalid because I'm posting them, then what's even the point in having a discussion forum?
Do you flame everyone who disagrees with you or is it just when you can't think of an intelligent comeback?

I agree!
I think both games are going to be fun and successful. I didnt like WOW, I prefer to group, so I will play EQ2. I have patience, alot of people that play WoW have no patience once so ever. They expect to level every 20 minutes or the game will become stupid. Notice why most people in ST and OB kept making new characters after lvl 15 or so, its cause thats when the game became a little more hard and more quest grinds. I prefer to group and grind, rather then quest and grind all my career. I think its all what you prefer, if you like to solo, play WoW, if you like to group, play EQ2. It really narrows down to that.

well its not really true. in most games, i remake characters cause i found either a flaw in my early planning, or i did something stupid. and most ppl dont expect to lvl every 20 minutes, if they think that they r newbs. if u want a game dats not just grind, u guys should check out DnL. So much tension between WoW and EQII, that i think DnL is just going to silently pass them both in gameplay and graphics. Thats my 2 cents
Well sometimes you can be right. When L2 came out I was unsure if I would like it, well I liked it the first week then hated it. In FFXI I thought I would love it when it came out, well I did love it and still do. When WoW ST came out I wasnt sure, well I loved it first 2 hours then hated it.
But as far as making that a review is kinda dumb.

I bought the game. I have played for two weeks. I liked it so much it is now uninstalled.
It would have been great if it was the first Mmorpg I had ever played, but its not. In my opinion it is a step backwards (except of course for the graphics).
I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round.
Shobu makes logical points. I'm a huge fan of both of these games for what they bring to the table. EQ2 is the best MMO with the coop, grind, no pvp formula to come out and I really dig it. But, like Shobu said compared to playing WoW which I wasn't planning on playing at all at first the EQ/EQ2/FFXI formula feels like alot more work than it used to while WoW is just a more fun experience. Granted it lacks immersion to me completely which is why i'm torn and planning on playing both just alternating. Everyone that has tried a game has a right to an opinion on it. Its the people that don't even try it and dog on it that are annoying.
Anyway though EQ2 rocks, I love it, but I love WoW to for what it brings to the genre...
Perhaps a more appropriate title for this thread would be "Everyone liked it before they bought it."
hehe :P.

I didnt say WoW fanbois r immature
theres so many flame wars between EQII fannies and WoW fannies that theres nothin else much to talk about... I think both fannies shud find another game and see if they still like EQII and WoW least it'll take off sum tension between the two.
Well EQ2 is nothing in comparison to WoW, sorry but that's the truth.
The majority reviews of the both game will go in favor of WoW and the amount of people that will play the game, WoW has won so many new fans to the mmorpg scene.
WoW has such a compelling background/history to back up the game whilst EQ among other mmorpg's just feels so fabricated, not that the Warcraft history is a true to our own but it feels so living and vast in so many ways more than any other.
And in WoW grinding is non existing, alot of quests, both fun and repetative.
And I strongly believe in WoW's future of PvP.
Until Darkfall Online, WoW is my new passion.

1. WoW future of PvP? check out DnL PvP. compared both, and i like DnL's style better.
2. its true that WoW has background and EQII seems fabricated, but sum of the WoW history doesn't make sense. If u compare War3 against War 1 and 2, u'll realize that its way different, dont know why.
3. Most of reviews r in favor of WoW because of Warcraft fans as well as mmorpg fans, while EQII is only backed by mmorpg fans.
thats my 2 cents
