It's not a bad deal at all.

buy the game for 50 dollars get 50 hours of actual action=1 dollar an hour, top up by spending 7 dollars for 20 more hours or 3 more on top of the 7 for unlimited play notice the 7 for 20 difference?

oh joy i can play any other shooter with better mechanics for free or i can play any other mmo with content for a trifle more oh joy fawn over it more please

Only because you think 9 bucks is a lot and you won't get fun worth your money doesn't mean everyoen else has to think exactly like you. Whether other games have better mechanics then APB is matter of preference so i am not gonna argue about it with you. For me its worth every cent, i think you should move on because clearly its not your cupt of tea.

its 10 dollars and if you think 10 dollars a month to play a pvp centric game after a 50 dollar game purchase is the new thing then i feel bad for gamers

Don't feel bad for me because i can make decisions for myself. After playing beta the amount of content it has is worth 10 bucks a month. You don't think the same? fine with me but no need to act all high and mighty with us. i played WAR for almsot a year and we all know how much content it has to offer but i enjoyed the PVP and got my money worth.

In the end you have to decide whether its worth your money or not, its an indivdual decision so need to insult those who don't think like you.

there is no content wake up and stop selling rtw games do you get a commision?

go here spray a wall go here drive a car to here go here plant a wire go here click b to arm the bomb go here beat an electrical box til it drops an item pick it up and bring it here

    that is the content

not 10 dollar a month sub fee worthy

So you gonna troll me now with generic bullshit? no i don't get commission. Look i am not trying to change your mind so why are you trying to force your opinion on rest of us? and what you mentioned is PVE content, what else do you expect in PVE? APB was always PVP focused and thats where the real fun is. They are not going to change their sub plans just for you.

lol you keep sying me and us like your the majority

     Thats funny, you can't count.

Your just a troll with a cowboy hat. You don't like the game, move on. Go play the free to play better shooters your bringing up. No one is stopping you. Be free troll.

lol ok no im not a troll in a cowboy hat I love the idea of the game but it isnt mmo subscription status but if you want to pay for what you can get for better free be my guest I would gladly buy to play the game

battlefield bad company 2 an awesome shooter buy to play no on going 10 dollar a month charge just so you can look different while your shooting them but to each their own i guess I wish i had the money to throw away

and mazers didnt you just get a key so you dont even know how the game plays yet tho you will get  a whole 2 hours to try it on sunday

     A great war game.

However your missing the point. Remember what the subscription is for. It's for their constant support in improving the game. You don't get that with games like Bad Company, even though I think they are doing free maps at christmas...but thats to compete with Modern Warfare.

I'm paying money for a game where I can shoot people up one month in the full game, or in another month where I'm too busy to play alot. I stay in the social area, just making things, chatting to friends, and then pay for more hours if I want to. It's conveniant.

These game offer download content patches.

I just picked up an arial pack for Just Cause 2

I got a fighter jet, a multi lock rocketlauncher and a  booster rocket for my parachute.. cost $1.99

I got a free vehicle for free previously. the next dlc patch is may25th i get a few more weapons and goodies for $1.99

Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age Origins, i got a page full of dlc upgrades that have added hours and hours of gameplay for a simple price.

Battlefield bad company. i play anytime with my clan for as long as i wish, ive recieved free content patches ( maps, later more maps and weapons etc)

Difference.. i can play with these as much as i want for as long as i wish with no other commitments.. its mine.

this is the downfall of these developers trying to put there games off as mmo's and unfortunately there are those that are going to buy into it whole heartedly like its the 2nd coming of christ

Reading is not your strong point is it? so i will just copy paste for you.

You can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price (SRP $49.99/£34.99/€49.99). The game includes 50 hours of action game play out of the box plus unlimited time in APB's social districts customising, socialising and trading on the marketplace.

Once your game time is up, you have flexibility to top up your action game time from as little as $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, while more frequent players can switch to a 30-day unlimited package for only $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days.

The retail package also contains a bonus 100 RTW points towards your next purchases.

An additional benefit to this evolutionary model is the ability for you to convert your own customisations and rewards to tradable products to give to friends or clan-mates or to place on the Marketplace to earn more RTW points (convertible to game time) or in-game cash. Check back later for more details

I love how coveniently you forget to mention regular 30 day sub costs.

evolutionary is all i can say

    Agreed.

But it goes without saying that they always end up ftp with some sort of cash shop in the end, then they vanish.

The Guildwars price model fits the bill for the content of this and other like titles. Look how long that title has been around.

How so? I haven't been following this game closely though it is on my radar. So can you give out more details than the FAQ's sell rewards and cusimizations? By work do you mean do stuff for NPCs or crafting etc? Thanks :)

the payment model just surfaced so dont feel bad you can make decals and sell them on the auctionhouse and if they sell you get rtw points same as any microtransaction item mall shop that they said they"werent doing"

Hmm....so I take it you can buy more RTW pts with cash? I saw where you get 100 free with purchase, but there would have to be another source if they want to have a economy based on them.

I cant believe I read this whole thread....

Either way, the opinion that there are better "free" games to play is rather moot. Better is a subjective word and not everyone likes the same thing.

BFBC2 is a great game, no doubt, but does it fill that "Cops and Robbers" want someone might have for a game? No.

MW2 is fun too, but does it scratch that itch for a 30vs30 or 50v50 fight? No.

The game offers a unique pricing plan, which is awesome. Any MMO gamer who thinks the pricing plan is bad is about as bright as a gold medalist at the Special Olympics.

Sure the game might be lacking (I have no idea as I dont follow the game or play it) but really? So much fight agaist them charging for thier game in the way they choose?

If its not worth it to you, don't play it. They created something they want to sell and market a certain way. They are introducing a unique pricing plan for the game and I am in support of any company that wants to bring something new to the table even if that table is Billing.

Well, we better get used to this new idea of monthly payment, cause we will probably see it in all EA games (SWTOR). Pay  a monthly fee for unlimited access and pay for the hours you want to play. This model is very popular en Korea, and it has its logic. I can play, mostly all day, but my gf and my dad, that work, can only play during the weekends, so maybe they will find more appealing the idea of just pay for the hours the will actaully play and not for the whole month.

I honestly think this is something good, cause they are giving us the regular way and a new way. I would be angry if the only method of payment was to pay for hours of gameplay!

I don't see a problem with this idea. It's great, and flexible. Doesn't force you to do anything.

Longing for Skyrim, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3

If you drop the argument whether the game is worth it or not, because that is subjective, some will think so and others will not.

It allows casual gamers to play for longer without being forced to pay monthly, they can just top up hours when they need to. The more active gamer will simply purchase a months gameplay earlier when their 50 hours are up. The fact the fee is cheaper than most titles makes this a reasonable idea.

Much fairer than a fixed fee for everyone, which turns alot of casual gamers away.

APB isnt going to amount to a great mmo, though as with any indie devs with a good idea, they have potential to really expand on the breadth and depth of this game.

Funny how not even these forums are teaming with people discussing the game, but a few that are bickering about a payment method.  Leaves me to wonder if those that want "free" persistent world (not necessarily 'world' in the case of APB) mmo entertainment are the same that cry for entitelments in life for stuff like free healthcare.

$10/month for starters,  is a very reasonable expectation if this development team continues to actively and swiftly and frequently add content to this game.  Heck, it's 35 cents/day for entertainment.  35 cents/day which I can pick up in loose-change from walking around my neighborhood off the street, from the floor of a local convenience store or McDonalds.

The dynamics of game-play in APB is without question more entertaining, by design, than is available with Team Fortress, CoD, BF series, or any other single-player third-person shooter/action game.

So aside from $10/month for something rich and complete being a non-issuse for an mmo as apposed to a multi-player feature found with a static third-person action game, the market's response just might encourage RTW to re-think their plan if the time comes.  If RTW can, from what we've been reading and hearing about, fix any minor game-play imbalances, oversights, and imperfections that their probably working on, this could be a very attractive entertainment purchase for those that want more from just a third-person shooter.

yea why not have all the other shooter charge 10 a month to play them after the 1st 50 invest ment(with only 50 hours of time with that investment) what the hell were these games like bfbc2 mws and halo thinking mmo it all more money for you or say it si mmo anyways

Re-read my post. If you fail to blindly lump APB as an mmo with much richer and breadth and depth of persistent game-play along with a single-player shooter with a bolt-on multiplayer option, then there is no more discussion here as you will continuously mis-represent the APB product and the value of entertainment.

APB is not an MMO.  Its just a shooter that wants to be an MMO so it can charge a monthly fee.  Really, they should just make it an Shooter with 2 maps that poeple can host on their own servers.  Being able to dress your doll in fancy clothes would set it apart from the other shooters, while its pretty common in MMO's.

    Heh...

People are still hung up about the hourly rates?

Seems a little odd that they charge by the hour and some of you cant grasp how paying for 20 hours is, in any shape or form, sensible for anyone when they can pay $3 more for 30 days unlimited time.

The key to answer this is, if you play 20 hours or less per month, you dont want the 30 day option. You save $3 where you didnt previously have a choice.

Example. If I bought the game and only liked playing it here or there, I might spend 2-3 hours playing a week. Tell me why I would pay $20 for two months of the game when $7 took care of what I wanted? 20/3 = 6.X. 6 weeks > 1 month. 2 months = $20. 20 hours = $7. $13 savings for the casual player that gets a few hours a saturday.

People need to expand what they perceive as the norm and into the realm of the world. Hourly is great and if the price is right I'd pick it over the monthly.

I've seriously had months where I played an MMO less than 10 hours that month. Other times over 100 hours. Flexibility is good no matter if you understand it or not or will use it or not.

lol put your post in orange it doesnt make it any more relevant, it is a poorly implemented shooter posing as an mmo for monetary gain and all the gta want it to be is going to buy it and into it yet it is not,

you dont charge me 10 dollars a month that is claiming you are in mmo territory bud

your trying to excise apb from other shooters and well it fails as a shooter period the only saving grace apb has is its CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION,DECALS AND MUSIC PLAYER THAT ISIMPLEMENTED INTO THE GAME thAt is not mmo or worthy of a freaking 10 doller a month or 7 doller for 20 hours to play a subpar shooter just to do it with a more open field of how my character looks

but i see some have the money to and dont really care about the mechanics

Right.  This is an mmo, and perhaps a very rich mmo of it's class.  We'll see what the final launch product is, but it is far from a subpar third-person shooter.  Personally, I never gave Global Agenda or CrimeCraft any attention after experienceing how rudimentary those games were.  But APB seems to have a wide range of dynamic and persistent-world game-play features that make it very appealing to at least experience.

So, I can see myself plunking down for a month to check it out.

no the key to having similar monthly rates to an mmo is having similar mmo content even Guild wars has alot of co op rpg content on top of its pvp game and GW is b2p not a persistant sub

i have played all 3 and in ranking as a shooter global agenda 1 crimecraft 2 apb 3 thats just ranking those 3 games combat/shooting mechanics not ranking as overall shooter

GA is subpar for a shooter and APB is way below GA in my book as far as mechanics go sry
