Yeah but without the holy trinity you get rid of any meaning for roles or jobs, that is if anyone could fill the spot and play however they wanted. I think that much is ok. I think 11's problem was 1)lack of healing jobs compared to other jobs and 2)class balancing.

Sadly if they do not release in 2010 it may get stuck in the weeds again by Guild Wars 2 and The Old Republic.

I disagree, The FF fanbase is strong enough to make it a succesfull title on their own, as long as the devs do not alienate their fans they will be fine.

The people looking foward to GW2 and SW are most likely going to leave ffxiv 3 or 4 months after release anyways. There is nothing wrong with that, maybe they will come back, maybe they wont. Maybe some will suplement GW2 with ffxiv.

(I have serious doubts about SW:TOR having any kind of sub retention after 2 months of play, time will tell)

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

I understand and I love Squre Enix but people today do the popular thing instead of the right thing for themselves these days when it comes to gaming. I actually think FFXIV will grow alot more as time passes but I think alot of them will try GW2 and TOR first before sticking with FFXIV for the long term. I will find myself in a tough spot if FFXIV releases anywhere near GW2. FFXIV will unfortunately have to wait unless I find FFXIV being a far superior game.

I think stable growth would be great for the game. It doesn't have to have 5 million players after few weeks, even few hundred thousand is alright for starters. It'll grow from there.

If someone wants to try other games first, that's okay. That'll give XIV more time to grow as well.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Unless I missed an announcement I dont think you will have a problem with GW2 conflicting with FFXIV atleast for a while. Your probably looking at a late 2011 for gw2.
