I think it may be time that you start to moderate ALL hype and reviews. Looking at them now is absolutly ridiculous. People tend to either have the opinion that "OMOMGOMG!!! 10!!" Or "THIS SUX!!!! 1!!!!". Sometimes they like to spice those words up with something else, but it is typically the same. Often times it's done just because that game isn't the one that they are a "fanboy" of, so they want it to get the worst rating possible compared to their game, and seldom do people acctually rate or hype a game based on it's pros and cons. So, I think it's either time to start thinking of a better method (for hype atleast) or else start moderating the hypes and reviews that you get.
(I'm not the only one thinking this way I know. Some idiot was writing "Lineage two mod?" in hypes for the new games on the list. Someone else said something about this already in the hypes, but it's ridiculous. Obviously the person that wrote that shouldn't be allowed to hype, as he has no clue what he's hyping or why. In another case someone hyped the game a 10, saying "I give it a 10", the next hype up was "I give it a 0 just to balance out the 10". What the hell is that? It's really time to clean up around here!)

i think its a pretty good way tbh. I shows whichtype of people are going to be playing the game, idiots in most cases.
I haven't been here that long but I'm already seeing this problem all over the place.
Most recently, there is this guy posting how RoE is a p2p game when it isn't. The guy had no content in his review of the game. He wrote a long rant criticizing the game's players, developers, and even mmorpg.com. It's not there now, probably because one of the staff removed it(go figure). But the same guy goes and posts a REPEAT of his review in the spam forum. I'm totally convinced he's a guerilla marketing hireling. No real player would post such persistant anti-hype. Look, if you're that pissed off at a game, you'll have your reasons and list them.. and perhaps the game will fix them or an attentive indie developer will listen and make better games from your suggestions.
As for an endall solution I'm stumped though. Any ideas?
Thats why its called hype. Its not the actual rating of the game, purely hype.
Well, can you not judge the game by the 10s and the 1s it gets? The more 10s it gets, the more people like it!
The hype number isn't a review number.. it just shows what people who hype the game think about it on average. Give or take a point...
There is no way you can get it more accurate.
What they DO need to do to this system is to show next to the comments how much this person has rated the game. Then you can pick out negative comments easier and see what people dislike, or positive comments and see what people like.
THen you can also instantly skips the 1s and 10s if you like!
Cheers,
Nash
