Have my eye on this one. Some concerns though.

I watched a few videos on YouTube that beta players have uploaded. I understand thier target audience is between 8 -14 but I'm sure there will be Adults that play this game simply because they are lego fans and it will bring them back a little to the old days when they were kids.

Here are my concerns.

The chat system could be a problem. I'm curious of how they will address the issue of adults playing this game that want flexibility in the chat. I ran into this problem while I was Playing Wizards 101. It's a great game , really fun , but the chat system was so restricting that it was a pain to even type. They filtered all words and if you made a small typo you had to go back and type it correctly before you hit enter. They have since loosened the restrictions up a bit to solve this problem but that is not my point.

Another concern would be guilds. Will they have them? They dont have to call it "guilds" but another form or system that will pull people together. Somthing they could add is a "Guild" lot where the members can build things like a Guild Castle or something. Members of the guild will go out and try to get the correct pieces to further there project. I'm hoping that they have more than just a simple friends list where you chat to 1 person at a time.

If anyone has ever played Wizards 101 you will see what I'm trying to get at here. Lego Universe , I hope , will not be like that but a bit less restrictive and more interactive.

yeah, i have the same concern as well regarding the majority of age base for this game

ok so it is said, it's targeted for 8 - 12 year olds. i understand that, it's LEGO after all

but i hope that LU does not actually gonna be dominated by like 90% of 6 graders

because i know this game will attract even those hardcore gamers, that are getting bored of the current MMO ( which i think you will find in almost all of LFG Thread ) and just want to have some casual fun

that said, im just worried that the subs will be dominated by children and the community might feel like a pain in the ass

and i hope, there is depth in this game, i mean, sure, a free world, you can build everything out of your imagination with Blocks

but i hope there are also some classic MMO feature implemented here, like Guild system stated by OP, a PvP or Arena, it doesn't have to be like Wintergrasp, or Alterac Valley, a bit casual PvP is even fine

and then crafting, and even player ecomony, which i doubt since those kids wont be interested to play the market anyway, but i hope the Dev are aware of this, that LU might not be only played by kids, but also adults and hardcore gamers from WoW, AoC, etc2

but regardless of what, im still gonna try this game since FFXIV is still a year away

might even gave up on FFXIV if this game is fun to play XD

oh and 1 more thing, i hope they do this in 1 big server only, because with all the things you could do, i think using 1 server could be as well the best choice so we can have a larger world with more creativity

    So What Now?

Well, I can tell you one thing: the producers of LU have said that they will make chat better and more relaxed in the future. I can't tell you anymore... but... yeah..
