and it looks like we have forum access again, my posts will all start with "i just dont get it", wonder how long before i get a ban?

edit... bah looks like no posting for me, may have something to do with me suggesting they sell the company to someone who knew how to make games?

I'll be skipping the "Welcome Back" weekend.

Not even interested in a free pass to go entertain myself on the STO forums.

Too soon anyway after I quit which was six weeks ago and I think it's pretty funny having a welcome back weekend only three months after release. Cryptic seem to me to have only gotten worse since I quit and they are attempting even harder than before to fleece money out of their customers for content so no great reason to return.

Awsome, just awsome lol. I said that it was going to follow in CO's foot steps and tank bad enough to need some welcome back promotions 3 months after launch .....I guess I didn't really believe myself cause I'm doubled over with laughter right now.

    Poor Poor STO lol.

I heard you have to have a key from a paid subscription to get the free weeked, which seems strange as I was able to download and play Champions Online months ago without ever having been a paying  member.

Anyway, if STO and CO together were available for $10 a month, I would probably subscribe, as there is some game value in each of them, and I need to fill the five or six hours a night which I used to play WoW.

Not gonna bother with the WB weekend for the game, but the forums might be extra entertaining.

Vanguards launch was even more horrendous then STO, but they didn't have a welcome back till i think it was 8 months ?

Im not sure why they did this so soon when most people had 1-2+ of free time if they bought multiple copies or got one of the 90 free offers.  My trial time ended on may 3 and I don't think there have been any miraculous improvements that would make me log in. I deleted the client and my admiral after 2 months of trying to find some motivation to play after reaching RA5 anc couldn't do it anymore.  If they are trying to bring back people who played they first couple of weeks after opening, Im not sure how they're planning on doing it. Other than doing some revamp to the aid the planet missions, there's not really been any new level content added for low levels.

Didn't they do a "relaunch" several months after release because of the terrible shape the game was on release? I played for a while and kind of liked what they did with added parts to necro pets to change stats. If they could ever get the pet to stop despawning everytime you crossed a seam in the overworld it would have been nice. Pet pathing was pretty bad for a while. I remember standing next to my pet, casting on an enemy, getting the crap beaten out of me, and seeing my pet come running from somewhere over the horizon. I'd usually be dead by the time he got there.

Atari's stock is in free fall ...! ... Is all this Negative Publicity hitting home !

  • BetabooBetaboo Member Posts: 384

I thought about if for no other reason than to annoy certain CDF members but i have been reading the forums and even they are rebelling so why bother.

They have added very little in the 2 months i have been gone and i am way past the "It is coming soon" puke the devs are still trying to serve to anybody still playing.

Just a fail in so many ways.

To the poster above yeah atari is hurting they have lost over 750 M in the last 8 years so expect big news on that front soon judging on the news coming out.

I don't think you can pin that on STO alone. The initial chart I saw was for the daily trend in which most stock tend to fluctuate up and down quite a bit. Their price is down to about a third of what it was a year ago but that can be due to the economy and people not wanting to put money into the stock market right now. Heck the economy is a mess right now everywhere. Even worse now because of the problems Greece is in. Stock prices dropping can be due to a lot of things, economy, people moving their money into more secure investments ect.

Looking at the graph on that site Atari's stock peaked at nearly triple what it is now in late September 2009 and then declined to more or less what it is now in December 2009. Was that due to CO or something else?

Possibly but i kind of doubt it that is a large jump and most investors might be rubes but that is a large jump for just the promise of something in the future. I am going to research it a bit and see if i can find out.

Ditto. And it's not like they've added anything substantive to the game anyway, at least nothing that doesn't require Cryptic Points anyway.

I hadn't planned on posting in the forums because they are on fire enough and at this point it's like beating up a cripple, but there was a thread where DStahl posted basically asking if it would have been better if STO had shipped with its' 80 hours of content or 20 hours of good content.  I wanted to reply sooooo bad, but as of five minutes ago, I can't post.  I know I wasn't banned, so either the WB weekend isn't up yet, or even they know it will be such an epic fail that they don't want old customers posting.

As for Atari stock, AFAIK they haven't posted their Q1 numbers yet, so the only thing I can think of is the guy that wanted to sell a million-ish shares of something and it went out as a billion-ish shares and caused the US stock market to plummet 1000 points in 20 minutes.  /shrug

Since STO is a single-player game, never will I pay $15/month for it, but make it like GuildWars where it is subscription free, and from time to time, I might poke my head in.

That's because CO did a free unlimited free weekend to everyone, not just former paid subscribers.

I'm downloading the demo right now and 2% has finished in the past two or so hours. Guess I'll be playing in about 100 hours.

I wont go near this crap game even if Craptic payed me for it.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
