If SoE could give Vanguard:saga of heroes to me i could fix it and make the game really big. SoE wont even sell it for billions..they really want EQ2 to be better.SoE really need to be killed(with fire) and burn for all eternity in hell while they get slammed by devils huge hot dog.hate them.
I would like a legend/champions of norrath mmorpg.
But since I don't think any company out there would currently try to make something truly original and polished out of any franchise, but they all seem to just throw out generic crappy MMORPGs with just the colors fitting to a franchise, it would all be wasted anyway.
Actually I don't really need a specific franchise or existing setting or something. I just want an MMORPG with an open world, dynamic weather and seasons system, an original setting, terraforming and... ah whatever, maybe in 50 years.

Let me get this straight, first you bash SOE for not making Vanguard better because they want EQ2 to be more successful, and then you turn around and ask for another EQ MMO in the form of Legend/Champions of Norrath?! Please explain that one to me?

(Double post because page crashed.... .not sure how my first post created under the second, oh well)
Moonstone, Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper. Good choice. I would place The Legend of Zelda there as well, as some others did. It would`nt work though, it would break the MMO genre because of too much awesomeness. Fable is probably not considered old school enough, would make the list as well otherwise. And of course the old Final Fantasy … wait …
If you say overall IPs in general, then how about Masters of the Universe? That's right, combine COH/V with weird Science-Fantasy!
True flight, open world of floating islands over a lava sea, full PvP, you get to raise your bird steed from day 1 alongside your character as desperatly try to avoid the randomly travelling pteradactyl (sp??) world boss
if yes then Cyberpunk 2020, my fav RPG of the time;
also Warhammer Fantasy but done properly not like the crappy WoW clone that came out of EA's incompetent hands. I'd like it to be more like the RPG with professions like Rat Catcher, a Bawd or a Grave Robber. Not with shiny armors and +10 weapons but bad teeth and crooked smiles.
if its oldschool computer games, then i'd love to see a game (even an MMO) of Dreamweb (remember that? or am i THAT old?) dark, gritty, industrial and dark world with a supernatural element.
damn you....may just have to dig out dungeon keeper again
lol I know, i fight the urge every now and again as well...
back in the day, Bullfrog (both DK and Syndicate on this list) were one of the cornerstone companies that got my gaming time... add in the Bitmaps (Speedball 2...), Delphine (Underneath a Steel Sky etc), and the Lucasarts point and click games, as well as others, and you had a classic era I think.
megaman mmo, they've got plenty of bosses. go kill dust man! *500 exp* now go kill ice man!! *500 exp* now kill guts man! *500 exp* now kill DR. Wile!!.......LFG DR. wile! need tank, hea.....nvm, we're all dps. one class, THE MEGAMAN CLASS
I can see Planescape being an awesome setting, and definitly the D&D setting I would rather see over FR. it is just so much less cliched and has a ton of potentiol- the Lady of Pain, the city of Sigil, all the outer and inner planes... would be awesome tbh. So much imagination to be tapped here. The same goes for Spelljammer tbh.
Zork has already been rezzed? I think it's a piss poor F2P thing tho these days. Havent played it tho.
I havent played some of those others... will have to take a look.

Since folks are pulling out some old school cartoons (Thundercats)
How about the following
Masters of the Universe
GI Joe
Voltron
And how about Mechwarrior or Robotech
Maybe even Xenosaga.

This also puzzles me - why has no one picked up one of the MANY mecha cartoons/animes and based an AAA MMO on it?
How about Talislanta, A great paper RPG.
Yes, Joust!
True flight, open world of floating islands over a lava sea, full PvP, you get to raise your bird steed from day 1 alongside your character as desperatly try to avoid the randomly travelling pteradactyl (sp??) world boss
Nice one:)

... when games radiated magic. Add in Cinemaware (it came from the desert, wings …)
TRON!!!!!!!!
FTMFW!!!!!11111
I think the following IPs would all lend themselves really well to MMOs:
- Melnibone & The Young Kingdoms (Elric stories by Michael Moorcock)
- Chronicles of Riddick
- Nehwon & Lankhmar (Fafhrd & Gray Mouser stories by Fritz Leiber)
- World of Tiers (stories by Philip Jose Farmer)
- Forgotten Realms
I've got to say though the best IP of all is Conan and look how that turned out!
Shadowrun damnit!
Firefly, *pfft*
Firefly video on youtube.
Well shave my back and call me an elf! -- Oghren
