The game is a lot better than it was, but the community is the worst i have ever seen, it beats WoW for the #1 spot.
I will certainly give you that. But its just the global chat. The cool people arent the ones on there acting like morons. Its allways the same handfull of people acting like kids.I found a very nice friendly guild pretty easily uppon return and haveing a blast!
Yeah Global is quite annoying, stick to guild and group chat..
As for the OP yep I agree whole heartedly, great game as it stands today. A little on the easy side, but it really doesn't bother me all that much. Really excited for tomorrows release, well todays... lol.
I usually play open ended games Oblivion, Morrowind etc... SWG vet, as well. Haven't really liked an MMO all that much since TBH. AOC is the first in a long long time, that has me excited to be playing.
Malickie Blood?I remember you from BDS/REDX/FIGHT.I went by Zep/Korlen from the same guilds....Allot of Bloodfin just started playing fallen earth.Everyone uses these forums http://www.digitalsurvivors.com/forum/ drop by.
Yes that is me, lol I remember you as well, I'll shoot you a pm!.

My comment is I stand by my original post, your problem is your system; Upgrade.
I ran it on a dual core 2.8 w/ 4 gig and an 8800gt and it ran for crap. I upgraded to a dual amd x64 and the gtx280 and it runs like a dream. Problem was memory bandwidth. You running DDR 533 or DDR2 800 or faster??
Slap a faster vid card in a system that doesn't boast good memory bandwidth and you won't see jack for increase in fps. Again I speak from experience as I had to upgrade processor, video card, motherboard and RAM in order to run this game with good settings.
Or don't believe me and just keep beating your head against the desk.. Your choice. I'm only trying to help.

you're probably right Nytakito, my point is you don't need what is recommended by Funcom on the box, you need a high end computer that costs thousands of $$$
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
..... Played for a couple months after release, but was driven away by the performance issues, bugs, and lack of upper level content.
....
The first thing that struck me was the MASSIVE work that's been done in the performance category. It really does run and look a lot better than it used to, which is a major plus in my book.
LMAO. My experience is the opposite.
For me performance is much worse than it was at launch.
At launch it worked great.
Now the performance is so horrible that it is not playable. I tried the ROTGS beta (which is going live tomorrow). Totally unplayable. I can't even turn the camera without the game freezing for 10 seconds. The 3D drawing is so slow that it often takes more than 10 seconds to draw the area arround me.
I have tried DX10 and DX9. Lowering the details makes it run better but still not playable enough to be enjoyable. Even the tortage beach is now freezing and stuttering (it is constantly loading from the HD, it looks like it can't read fast enough from the disk).
So for me there seems to be some major issues with this expansion that is supposed to go live tomorrow.
BTW, my system is a 2.8ghz core2duo, nvidia 8800gt (factory overclocked), 4gb ram, win7x64. As I said, at launch this system was working great (was vistax64 instead of win7); DX10 was working fine too last year.
Your problem *is* your system. 2.8 c2 duo means you probably don't have the memory/processor bandwidth.. And an 8800GT is too small a card for this game with any level of detail.
here is what is written "on the box"
Minimum configuration :
Windows vista/xp
Processor 3ghz Pentium 4
Memory :
1 Gig of RAM (LOL?)
Video card :
Nividia geforce 6600
oooooooo k
but here is the "recommended" configuration (the one that should let you play everything on medium without any issues right?)
Windows vista/xp
Processor :
Dual Core @ 2.4 Gigs
Memory :
2 Gigs of RAM (LOL?)
32 Gigs on hard drive (LOL?)
Video card :
Geforce 7900 GTX 512 Megs (LOL AGAIN???)
so no comment?
didn't think so :XD
Minimum means minimum - 15 fps and everything turned low/off. Pretty much what you need to start the game..
Recommended means what it will take to run the game satisfactory at a low level, i.e. 25 fps on low settings.
You know, I accidentally purchased a gamecard back in January. I too had played the mess called AoC beta. I will say this after three months: the performance has drastically improved. The bugs are almost all gone. So if that is all that was holding you back, it may be time to reinvest.
Personally I let the gamecard expire..I just can't get over the mininstanced zones. For me, it completely minimizes the scope and scale of the game. I had the same issue with guild wars.

(you can't get 25 FPS in pvp on medium settings with the recommended settings btw :S)

I agree 100% there. Every system I had blew recommended settings out of the water when I purchased the game, yet it was all I could do to get 20fps out of it. That's why I still haven't bought the expansion.. I did reactivate the account for a month to see what the game was like after two years.. Still on the fence though.. Went through AoC then WAR.. I think I am still suffereing some PTSD.
The bright side is now I can run any *two* other MMO's simultaneously on the system I built to run AoC..

All of the new zones in the expansion get rid of that issue. The new 20 to 40 and the other new 80 areas are at least 4 times larger than any other zone from the main game and connected.
That dosent' solve the problem of the smaller zones from 40 to 80, but it is a very big change for the better. And with all the ways to increase leveling, you can get to 80 fairly quickly.

The funny thing was with AoC was that even with all the issues it had, I really loved playing that game. The reason I left was that everybody I was playing with at the time threw little baby fits and quit playing.. I literally went from having a small group of 10 people to play with in a guild that was looking to expand, to logging on to only myself with a partially started guild city... Right about that time though, WAR finally released so I just said to heck with it and went on over to WAR. I promptly quit MMO's all together for about a year and a half after that.. Just now getting back into it.
I didn't mind the instanced Zones that much.. They put me off at first, but once I adjusted to them it wasn't an issue with me.. However the fact that the expansion alleviates alot of that is one of the big turn ons for me.. Grr.. Might have to give Funcom more money.. lol

Prob with win 7 maybe? I have run the game on less and it has worked fine. A lot less buggy then launch. Crash issues were pretty small for me at launch also.
I remember it was working fine last December with win7 when I tried the welcome back.
So I really don't know what happenend, but I definitely have screwed up somewhere.
Hope I fix it.
There fix it for ya...
Bet ya didn't try any of the new video optimizations all over the net for AoC or peruse the official forums for help or use the posts/guides to tweak any of your ini. files, did ya?
Try some modding, and or tweaking before running the game for ten minutes and then moaning about how they screwed it up.
And I hate to break it to you but that is not very good system specs. However you should be able to run Aoc just fine...
I have to agree with EbonHawk,
I have an HP a6000n with 3 gig of RAM, Nvidia 8800gt, and an Athlon 64 4200+ at 2.2 ghz and the game runs very well in DX9 even in 1680*1050.
But then again my screen is only 17" and resolution not set to highest. Anyhow, I have absolutely now problem running game on medium to high settings...FPS typically between 40 to 80.
My comment is I stand by my original post, your problem is your system; Upgrade.

Well, if you have the recommended specs you are able to run the game without too many hickups on low settings.
You know what the Premium-ready Vista specs were?
1 GHz Intel-compatible processor
1GB RAM
DirectX 9.0-Capable Graphics Processor, with 128MB graphics memory
40GB HD with at least 15GB "free space"
I had a computer with those specs once.. around year 2000...All of the new zones in the expansion get rid of that issue.
