And things are worse now than they probably ever have been.
Going back into the history of MO, a list of blunders up to this point is probably not out of the realm of discussion...
- Sausage Lake
- Extreme Lag
- Low FPS
- No Beta Forums
- Shop didn't work right
- No proper testing
- New features implemented without testing
- Desync
- Thieving
- Desync
I'm sure there's a lot more, but if we actually delve into the history of MO and SV thus far, we can draw great parallels between them and the developers of Dark and Light, or Mourning. The game is going to release soon(ish), and the support forums at MO's main site are overrun with problems, more than I've seen in a long time.
Like I said many, many months ago -- this game is going to fail bigtime, and I'm just here with popcorn watching it happen. But let's discuss what got us up to this point, eh?
Comments
It hurts me to see a game with potential fail due to a lack of money
./cry
How so? You've dropped things that have been experienced over the beta year, and how are things worse now? Whats worse?
I don't think it's failing due to a lack of money.
It's failing due to a lack of experience.
The sheer amount of problems they are having now are things that actually worked before. Logging in, eternal sword spinning, username/pass are wrong, etc... are just a handful of things that they actually BROKE during this patch. It's getting worse and worse, not better and better.
Have they actually started to repond in the Support Forum? I don't know that I have ever seen SV actually answer when people request help there. They used to just leave it to other customers to try and help those with issues...

It's hard to be a sandbox player these days.
What do we have to play? If you don't like Eve or Ryzom what are you left with?
Last three sandbox games Released or in Open beta (DF,FE, MO) pretty much suck or at the most are sub-standard.
MO is a bad game, it has no positives to speak of.
Its not getting better either. Have you tried Xsyon? Craft of Gods? Dawntide? All train wrecks right now!!!
Maybe we will get lucky with Earthrise? I doubt it though.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
I'm no MO fan, but you havent mentioned more beta problems, but have regurgitated past issues, some that have been addressed.
That's what you do when you discuss a history of something. You discuss past issues up to this point. The sad thing is, that from my short list -- most of it is still broken, including desync.
The game is simply not playable or releasable, but I know that won't stop SV. And people are going to get charged for it after the first month, mark my words.
Best comment of mmorpg in the latest years...best and true.
Thats the issue with "sandbox" titles, we are so desperate these studios think we'll keep throwing money at them. Sadly, many do and perpetuate the stream of garbage.
"People that cant code make "Sandbox" titles. " It's the only place they can hope to make a $buck$.
In regards to the last 10 months... The game is currently worse than it was when I started playing in 2009. Its like we're starting over on the whole beta process, but trying the right approach this time. Guess they learned something at Epic. But, how much time does SV have?
I win!!! LOL@U
Remember Wish?
Gfx and point'n'click movement aside that beta was (for me) better than most finished products today.
Someone should buy their design documents and implement them with up-to-date gfx and normal movement... ah well.
It would be nice if it was decent and not full of bugs that have been there for 10+ months
