The main thing im wondering is... Will it play like a typical MMORPG (like WoW, LOTRO, etc) or will it be more of a MMOFPS/Twitch based game. Both could work pretty well for this IP, though i think id prefer a megaman MMOFPS.
isn't Capcom about to announce their first Facebook game? Mabye it will be this? a 2d flash online game. It could be...
God i hope not. I mean, the 2d flash style would go very well with the old school megaman style, and they could make it a sidescrolling shooter MMO (like someone mentioned, Maple Story and other similar games). So that could be fun, i just hope its done seperately from Facebook.

if it was MMOFPS or Twitch....I'd jizz my pants. It doesnt have to be quake 3 FPS speed but a slower, deus ex kind of movement
If i remember right, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter (with its newest one on the Wii) are already MO games. Both Devil May Cry and God of War wouldnt really be doable without taking away pretty much everything that makes the game so great (amazing graphics and action). If they made MMOs of them, they wouldnt resemble the original games at all. Okami, unless i missed something was just 1 obscure game which while it was really great, never really became popular with the masses.
So that leaves Breath of Fire, which i agree would be much much better as an MMO IP than Mega Man as it is my 2nd or 3rd favorite RPG series. Hell, BoF Dragon Quarter would be a pretty good model to build the MMO off of.
Mega Man sux!!! River City Ransom Online is where its at! you can go around ganking each other with brass knuckles!
The chain & garbage cans would be my weapon of choice along with picking up other players and using them as weapons
Yep. 'Javelin Throw' was awesome, especially in a 2P game.
Back on topic, leave it to Capcom to let the success of Megaman 9 & 10 go to their heads and try to cash in. I really don't see how this franchise could make an MMO. I suppose if they used the Legends playstyle it could work.
If they use the Legends incarnation, they had damn well better include the Bonne family dammit! The Misadventures of Tron Bonne was always a guilty pleasure of mine.
"The project is part of a joint development deal between Capcom and Korean games publisher..."
That's all they needed to say for me to lose interest in this project. I fear it will be nothing more than a Dungeon Runner's copy with Mega-man skins. 200 blue bombers running around on a side scrolling platform style MMO in EXACTLY the same gear and graphics. I bet this will be out before the summer is over.

Some of those may have online features, but are by no means mmos. Also, I wasnt talking about gameplay mechanics, only the IP itself.
My comment was just outlining that out of all those great and popular IPs, they chose Megaman.
Actually, if you watch the second anime, Rockman EXE, and made that theory into a MMO, it could be fairly fun. I will agree though that it should be more of a FPS than a standard RPG, at least for basic weapons.
If they make it 3d and made to resemble the typical mmorpg in terms of how it plays, i'd definatly be interested.
There's only 3 things I would need:
1. Tons of character customization, almost to the point of that City of Heroes has. This way people can truly create their own *insertname*-MAN, and allow the creation of custom blaster options. It would basically be like creating yourself as something you'd only see at the end of each stage in the orignal games.
2. Dynamic controls, similar to how DDO handles combat. Being MegaMan it really needs to be more fast paced and action orientated, plus just I want to be able to hold down my attack button to charge my blaster, aim, and let a' rip!!
3. The forementioned *MAN "tag" on all character names, and i'm not even completly sure why this interests me, but being a megaman vet it would really make PvP seem more epic to me, sort of like watching end bosses duking it out lol.
Now on the other hand, if it's made 2d and basically just remakes the orignal games to support multiplayer, then i'm not so interested.
I've played quite a few of these side-scrolling beat'em up mmo's, and they just don't mix things up enough to keep it interesting. Sure it's fun for a little while, but the experience grows thin and repetitive quickly, and that's just not what I look for in an MMO.
If I want that nostalgic feeling of megaman i'd just hook up my old systems or boot up a rom.Now I have no desire to have other people playing with or against me in those, so why would I want an MMO version of the same?
wow, the only time I ever heard of mega man was on southpark and I thought it was a joke. And yet, here it is!
lmao!! Holy crap.
Why do kids even watch shows like southpark or family guy? All the good jokes are aimed at adults, with a few simple "Fart jokes" tossed in.
I'm getting pretty old, if you ask me, but Family Guy throws out things that Laurence Welk wouldn't even catch. It's a great show, but McFarlane's hard-on for vaudeville kills it, or just makes an episode hit-and-miss on a good day.

Haha, that is exactly my point. I'm in my 20's and that name drop just went right over my head, same sort of thing these shows pull. Mcfarlane toons have a lot of stuff only my father catches, and he is definatly not their target audience, really makes me wonder how his shows do so well.

Sounds like a Global Agenda clone...
I want some of whatever youre smoking... not even remotely close to eachother, other than the fact that both have futuristic technology.
MMO the MMO...
Confusing acronym is confusing! This is really one of the last IPs I expected to be made into an MMO. Go figure.

Hmm, if it was a f2p I would try it out. Otherwise I can't see paying a subscription for a retro game.

BOOYAKA!
Dead Rising
Devil May Cry
Lost Planet
Resident Evil
Monster Hunter
Okami
God Of War
Breath Of Fire
. . and we get "Mega-man"?
Well then, I'm going to wait for the Strider mmo.
