Comments
OpenGL
And guess what, works under Windows too...
mm there is opengl and opencl but these could be compared to directx?i didnt know that?
Both are graphical API...
Direct3D is propriety Microsoft technology and only available on the Windows platform. OpenGL is an open standard API and is available for use on any variety of platforms like Mac OS X, Linux, Playstation 3, Nintendo consoles, etc.
ya i tried to find tube exemple of opencl or opengl but i havent found any ,it looks dev for doctor or nuclear testing stuff etc
even tho, the way it is described by those making opencl and opengl, these standard can do insane graphic !but from what i saw opengl and opencl is mainly aimed at other stuff !even tho these tool are more powerfull then directx 11.
i guess they go where money goes lol .(open cl and opengl is probably less expensive too and the fact it works on mac, linux and windows isnt a small thing!good luck getting games tho since microsoft do the grunt work for directx so dev have an easier time there then opencl+opengl!but it still looked like on the long run opencl and opengl were more stable less prone to issue from what i saw and read.ty for info guy i sure wished i saw opencl exemple (a la directx11!unigen)
mm!having read a little bit it seems the situation is like this
opencl(and maybe opengl,not sure)=direct3compute from ms.
so i am still searching for that elusive equivalent to directx in the linux world!
from what i read it seems linux has no counterpart to directx.linux didnt make their version or maybe its all included in the opencl-opengl solution !not sure since im not familiar with programming but the way the maker put it it seems the solution opencl-opengl did is simpler for dev on the long run.
I think you might look up what API is in first place and then learn some more about linux/nix systems.
You are asking a question similar to 'What is the equivalent to Windows registry on Linux?'
