I think it will, but I'm not 100% sure. RAM really isn't that expensive anymore, so he should probably just buy DDR2 to go with the rest of the upgrades. DDR1 (if it works) would end up bottlenecking most newer hardware anyway. It'd be best just to upgrade it.
Edit: Okay, so it won't work. The more you know...
just wondering cause my freind is getting some upgrades. so we need to know if he needs to buy new ddr2.
I'm calling shenanigans on this post. I read your post on AMD core 6 for one next if your friend running a PC that still uses DDR1 then basically the internet is about all you can use that PC for last You know the meaning of DDR for that matter you know what is DDR2 so lol OK once again Shenanigans

WTF have you been smoking.. you do understand that DDR2 has only recently become standard. DDR2 has only been around since like 2000 or something like that. Last time I checked there were games out before 2000

Ive been smoking nothing. You seem not to understand the progression that computer's have come since 2000. er maybe you know enough that yes DDR2 has become the standard. Let me give you a brief example as to a what a typical PC would of been pre 2000.
Intel pentium 2 333 MHz
gpu Voodoo2
DDR-333
soundblaster 16
Anywho typical games that you could run on such a machine:
I just wanted to make sure, since i have no ddr1 sticks.Instead of digging up an old artical on anand tech , I figured you guys could answer it . great i cant get out of italics. Anyways thanks for ansering it.

No DDR will not work in DDR2 slots. DDR2 will not work in DDR3 slots.
No. DDR1 doesn't fit in DDR2 slot. DDR1 is 184 pins and DDR2 is 240 pins IIRC.
qft you guys are too fast..

Yeah do not be fooled even it they have the same number of pins they still will not fit because one is round the other is square.

Street Fighter II
Doom
Gran Turismo
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
Final Fantasy VII
EverQuest and Asheron's Call
So this is why i called Shenanigans incase you are not fimilar with the term it means
1 : a devious trick used especially for an underhand purpose
2 a : tricky or questionable practices or conduct —usually used in plural b : high-spirited or mischievous activity —usually used in plural
So basicly I thought the OP was just joking with us when he posted this thread.
