Hey! I played Aoc for about 8 Months,= when it relised all my friends quit but i carryed on because i thought it was a decent game.

What i am wondering is a am a casual player as i work alot i enjoy pvping, when i quit aoc i only had noob gear so to be able to compete in pvp do i have a chance? or is it gear dependent?

Also i am on a PVP server i have seen a few threds saying the community is better on a PVE server does it cost much to move charicter also?

Is the Mini game pvp still the same where you allways get premades Vs randoms and they just Zerg your spawn point?

Thanks for your help :)

Depending on where you it might differ but let me paint you a picture of PvP on Crom EU (PvE server):

    - 3 major guilds allying themselves and hogging all Battlekeeps. Thus no sieges and even they do take place (once a month) they fail.

    - Those 3 major guilds have the Battlekeep buff and are nearly invincible.

    - Those 3 major guilds have premades, so not only do you have to beat that, you also get your ass handed to you by a coordinated group.

    - Bori is all about the farming, so don't try to go there, because they will farm YOU and the nodes since it's occupied 24/7, by you've guessed it, the 3 major guilds.

And yes, my post is filled with anger, because I was foolish enough to think I'd get to enjoy Sieges and some PvP when I came back to AoC 5 weeks. I haven't done even 1 Siege, played only 7 minigames, but got my ass handed to me. There is no other option than focusing on PvE.

And yes one more development: people from Fury EU (PvP server) transfer to Crom EU where there is no competition, join the big alliance, gear up and transfer back. Yay! Hooray for Funcom!

So don't bother, it's a waste of your time.

hmmmm I've no idea what is going on, in the EU servers since i'm a NA player.

OP what region are you playing in EU or NA?

Different servers have different levels. Wiccana (US) has a few guilds that host sieges for others to participate in (usually themed ala Cimmeria vs Stygia for example. For minis, you will see a good random vs random once in awhile but most of the time you will get steamrolled. Imho, it is far better to pvp with your guild. Guild vs Guild pvp is alot of fun. AoC is not that gear dependant but more group composition dependant. For example, no healers on your side equals a sure loss.

Crom EU so far has been excellent

It does take some effort on your behalf though

Don;t expect to login and be greeted by 100 vets looking to help people out on the journey ahead but if your willing to ask questions and instigate conversation then the community seems very mature and helpful"

looks like different individuals have a different experience within the same server heh. i too am considering giving AOC a shot.. not decided yet though.

    <QQ moar plz. kkthxbai.>

Crom Eu is nice...also depends what you wish to do..Pve or PvP...you can hardcore PvP on Fury EU. There the community is selfish and use bad language.

Guess it's server to server thing.  On Cimmeria I run into a couple premades, but also have fun creating balanced 12 person raids before going in to keep it fair and fun.  I came back and got my HoX to 80 with all blues and I can definitely compete.  The thing with people in higher gear is they have that gear because they play a crapton and probably really know their characters so it may seem like a huge gap at first.  After a week of PvP'ing I can kill people in T2 gear with my blues, and kill any class a HoX can normally kill, and die just as easily.  There are a lot of options for gear now as well.  PvP through minis, Bori, Khitan Factions, Raid, Culture.

There are PUG raids almost every day, and it is easy to get 12 people your level together and arrange fair teams for fun PvP matches.  I do this a couple times a day and its a blast.  Basically just look out in global or advertise it and you will get 12 people fast.  Give each party a healer/equal dps classes/etc.  I know this is basically premades, but it is premaking both sides to be an even fight.

Another funny note is my favorite mini match ever was in a premade match.  I had no friends or guildies and it was amazing.  I know this isn't usually the case, but there is plenty of fun to be had.  I'm on Cimmeria btw.
