Is there a good Turn Based mmorpg out there?

Crown111Crown111 Member Posts: 10

I have been searching on a lot of forums for some Turn based MMORPGS

I have played till now mythwar and Atlantica..both where very nice and i can't find any other turn based mmorpgs...there is one Altis Gates but it is closed...and will not open very soon..so i was wondering if anyone knows any turn based mmorpgs....beside the ones i mentioned..that are nice

I'm tired of all this WOW like games out there...i have tryed a bunch of them ..all are the same...and are 80% single player..

Mythwar was 95% party based...and it took 30 seconds to find a party...so it wasn't anoying it was interactive and fun

And Atlantica was mostly single player..but was also very interactive with the best PvP sistem i have ever seen in a MMORPG

So anyone got any suggestions ? ..or if u don't know a turn based mmorpg..at least one that is highly interactiv and its mostly party based..but i prefer turn based if u know

Thanks

99% of MMO's are turn based.

The ones you're talking about though, I only know Atlantica.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

no there not lol...99% are like WoW...maybe u don't get the idee of Turn Based...u have a time to atack..then the other side/monster/cpu/player has a time to atack...something like the games i mentioned: Atlantica, Mythwar, Altis Gates...something like that...hope someone will give me some answers

Try out Dofus.  It is turned based combat.  The combat reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics if you have ever played that game.  A grid is placed on the terrain.  You have movement points and action points that you can use on each turn.

I agree with Cernan. Only possible downside for you though is that Dofus is Pay To Play.

There's also Heroes Of Might And Magic Online I believe

You can play Dofus up to level 20 for free.  That should give you an idea if you want to pay for additional play time.  I think their subscription fee is $5 a month.

Honestly I can't think of any other turn based MMOs.  You have covered them all.  I enjoy turned based combat as well.  If you find any let me know.  :)

Wakfu is currently in closed beta and it promises really nice features.

I'd suggest testing Dofus. Imho it's the best turn based MMO, because it really requires you to think during your turns.

Wizard 101 is suprisingly good for a children's game, and the combat is turn based.

i've seen Wizard and it seems to childish as you said and well i checked on youtube that Dofus it doesnt look preety good..and i will check that closed beta game u said also thanks!...im trying now Zodiac Online to see if it is any good..just finished downloading the client

Ty ..keep them comming if u know more please:)

  • Crown111Crown111 Member Posts: 10

Well i tryed Zodiac and it doesn't look to good..the special effects suck..the gameplay is not bad..but the pets suck..u have rabits, sheeps, horses :) and the special effects on the spells are awful ( meaning almost no special effects) and it has a big chineese influence...preety much everything there screams CHINA

Can u please tell me, is that Wakfu free to play ? or is it like dofus..just till u get a certain lvl

Heroes of Gaia is turn based.  It has good graphics for a browser game.

Heroes of Might and Magic Online is in beta testing. I am not sure if you can play it at moment, as the beta server was closed when i checked earlier today.  If you are impatient with bugs and translation errors, I would recommend waiting for the developers to finish their beta testing.

you already mentioned Atlantica, as it is the closest I have seen to a turnbased MMO, but Atlantica is very very limited in it's scoope, you can't move more than a few steps and the things you can do in combat are VERY limited even thou you have a broad range of diffrent soldiers at your disposal.

there really isn't possibility for a REAL turnbased game as a real turnbased game more/less demands that the game is frozen for one part of the combatants..It's simply not possible to create a real turnbased MMO A'la singleplayer Jagged Alliance or Wizardry as examples

i have already played atlantica but got bored of it..i realy enjoy mmorpgs that involve a party and a bit of brain..not just randomly hiting or casting the same spell on your oponent. Played a bit of zodiac online but it is just tu chineese and hentai for me.

The problem is that 99.9% of the mmorpgs out there are mostly like World of Warcraft..with a few modifications.

I would like a game like Altis Gates..but since it is not open and probably will never open

Check it on youtube and if u know anything similiar ( besides Myth War or Zodiac ) please let me know

All the Ankama games are. This includes Dofus, Dofus 2, Wakfu and maybe a couple of others (i know they used to have a lobby type game also but i forgot its name). Dofus 2 and Wakfu *might* be in a stage like beta at the moment so you get to play for free for a couple of months - check it out. The lobby game was also free i think, but it was more like a tactics game than MMORPG.

Final Fantasy 11 and Wizard101.  Not much into these games, but I want to try it out.  I heard Atlantica is pretty good.  This true?

Atlantica is preety good yes the only problem is that if i am not mistaking is from 2007-2008 ..so i wouldn't start a game that is already 2-3 years old, but the gameplay is preety nice and it has the best PVP sistem i have ever seen in a game. But if u don't mind 10000 people being maxed lvl and u being lvl 1 i suggest u try it

And about wakfu and those other games u suggested..im interested in free to play games
