" Typical mmorpg forum mindset. Exactly why the moderators had to kick so many butts recently.

Very truth considering that the butt kicking started before 'D' started posting here in regards to Alganon."

What the heck?.  Mike B posted this across so many of the other forums on here that it is not even funny.

    http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/388/view/forums/thread/265168/READ-FIRST-Notice-of-Increased-Moderation.html

So you could say that the butt kicking has been kicked recently. But then recently is 1/8/2010 not 5/30/2010.

Anyone have  the name of a real good optometrist ?. I guess these rose color glasses are too dark.

I am not sure what Smrt could sue about. If this website has been going for as long as it has  http://follies.werewolves.org/

then Smrts likes to use threats then not follow through. Hell anyone can send out letters to websites from so called legal departments and make them sound all mighty and powerful. So I doubt that was it.

Anyhow now that we have truly went off topic. Did anyone bother to log in to try to win a fantastic t-shirt?

     Signed,

    Elmarolly Legal Dept.

The wife and I have been playing since Friday Night as she would like one of the Talrok T-shirts.

    No luck for her yet.

The double Xp for mobs and quests is making the grind from 45 to 50 a bit less of a grind.

I'll have 2 of my toons at 50 by the end of the event and a 3rd almost there.

    Just Us,

    Tim & Trisha

No luck here also. But then Paderic was beside me and looked at me like I was so knd of piece of crap..... well it was more lke I was from Canada so I was not able to win one.

    Them the breaks....

Got a T-shirt, wife will be happy.

Got 2 toons to level 50, what they'll do now I'm not sure.

    Hope everyone had fun.

Fun is the name of the game.

At least that's the way I did it.  Probably a better way to do it .. but it's still low numbers for a Massively Multiplayer online role-playing game.  That's why I just call it a Solo Online RPG.

Can these numbers sustain a game?

Apparently the QOL staff and management believe it can.

    Only Time will Tell.

    Just Me,

    Tim

Wish people were a bit more careful about what they post.

If you call it a Solo Online RPG, how come I spent all Friday Evening and all of Saturday from 10 am to just gone midnight playing in a group of five/six people?. Oh, the other solo players and myself have made plans to get together, again to play in a group again for Sunday.

If you wonder who I am, my in-game is 'Marak'.

The population may be low but you do not help the situation by giving others the wrong impression.

How would posting numbers give people the wrong impression? Facts are facts. And the purpose of this forum is to DISCUSS Alganon, and not cheerleading.

In fact, given the censorship on the official Alganon forum, it is more important for discussion here to be free with no censorship.

It does not excuse an active member of the Alganon community putting Alganon down. If he feels it is that bad, then maybe it is time to move on.

Last thing we need is a witch hunt based upon mass hysteria from such posts. leading to a lynching by an unruly and headless mob.

LOL .. this is a FREE discussion forum of the game Alganon, not the official cheerleading forum. There is no reason why people cannot criticize the game here.

Moreover, posting FACTS such as population numbers are welcomed because it is hard to spin facts.

In fact, when i decide to whether play a MMO, i would like to know its population. So Hakiem is doing us a favor. Thank you Hakiem and keep the numbers coming. It would be interseting to see if Alganon got a bump in population during the memorial day weekend.

I'm sorry if Numbers make some people cry.

Me I'm a number freak. Got to love em.

That being said here they are for better or worse:

6 reading taken on the 2 servers (Adrios & Hokk) both factions counted and then averaged out for the day:     http://lazarusl.com/PlayerMemorialDay.doc

    FRIDAY May 28th Average = 39

    SATURDAY May 29th Average = 48

    SUNDAY May 30th Average = 45

    MONDAY May 31st Average = 50

Well the number did increase a little to 50. I guess 50 is better than 39. Isn't it usually only like 1/10 of the player base is online at any time.

How many paying customers do Alganon have? 500? 1000? Hard to imagine such a small community supporting a whole company.

I see MugHug is back to spill praise on Our Glorious Founder David Allen and Chairman Smart. The population of Alganon is fine. Everyone who dislikes the game are a bunch of mindless peons who cannot see the glory of Quest Online. There are no Americans in Baghdad.

Mug is, in fact, near as I can tell, the only person anywhere ever outside Alganon's official forums with anything positive to say about Alganon. Even Hakiem and Wraithone(? I think that's the poster's handle) seem to have given up on the game.

Well I hope Alganon can get a nice and stable player base. They deserve it. I didn't play the game yet, but I've heard the devs stay close to their community and ask about their opinions and stuff. And that's a good thing. But we'll see it in the future what happens with Alganon. It sometimes reminds me a bid of the story of rubies of eventide. An mmo that went offline last summer :-( I kinda miss it. Rom was released as a p2p mmo, but it didn't have enough players so after a few months they pulled the plug out of it. But the game came back as a small f2p game, cause they had a verry small but nice community and they wanted their game back. It has nothing really to do with Alganon, It just reminds me of it :-)

And Mughug? I thought they permabanned you... Annyway, this is not north korea, people here can express their feelings and say what they like about the game, if you like it or not. get used to it!

    No, no they don't.

No company deserves ANYTHING from it's current or potential subscribers. They deserve what they EARN, and as of now they've earned nothing but scorn, derision, irrelevence and financial ruin. Well-deserved, too, I'd say.

tim your hypocrisy is breathtaking .. seriously .. you got your money back, if the game makes you so unhappy that you spend this much effort trrying to torpedo it, dont you think its time to move on .. do something you actually enjoy instead

Reporting the numbers isn't "torpedoing" the game.

The numbers themselves bear testament to the fact Smart has already unloaded all the bays and is busy scuttling the remaining hulk.

hmm, gotta admire you for taking such malicious enjoyment out of the misfortunes of others .. scorn derision etc pretty much sums up my opinion of your post

Why? He's right. Developers earn, and lose, what they deserve by their work.

Seriously, why are you here to rant on people who post facts then? Do you work for Mr Smart? I don't think Alganon needs much more "torpedoing", as the numbers have clearly shown.

There is, of course, a fascination to watch a train wreck from afar, and if you do not understand that, you haven't been around the Internet for long.

sorry cant be bothered w multi quotes etc ... my reply to eyeswideopen below:

    a) we all know that the kiss of death for any online game is the perception that it has a low population .. nothing tim could post is more damaging than the pop counts he's been posting regularly

.. yup in this case the game has (always had) dismal numbers but in publicising that he has ensured that some (many?) people who might have found that they liked it would never try it  ... somewhat ironic that a person who had such enthuisiasm and high hopes for the game that he bought 5 one year subs is now doing as much as he can to ensure it fails

    b) yup, publishers stand or fall by their work and the lord knows there are plenty who appear better suited to another line of endeavor, but since this forum relates to alganon, i contend that the game doesnt deserve the level of vitriol directed at it in that post.

--- i have been playing since january and while i certainly agree its far from perfect (and far from finished for that matter), there is sufficent that i enjoy in the game to keep me logging in regularly ... tho i admit i do expect that the haters will win out in the end.

And he is doing those people a service. It is a waste of those people time to try a game with such low population and it is deceptive for MMO companies not to disclose population numbers because that affects the level of enjoyment.

"Far from perfect" is an understatement. An incomplete WOW clone with a few elements stolen from other MMOs? If a game like that would succeed, there is no failure. And of course the new "leadership" is not helping by antagonizing the already miniscule community. And you are right, the haters will win out at the end. I don't see it lasting much longer with that  kind of numbers.

BeaverBandit may not like active population numbers being posted, but it's the only way to tell if the game is indeed growing.

From my point of view, if the game really does grow to a respectable number of players I'd definitely consider giving it another chance.  I won't know if that has happened without seeing population counts.  Even then, I'd redo the trial to see for myself.
