Ok, I was wondering.... how do most of you feel about sharing quest solutions in MMORPGs? If you know your way around your average search engine, you can find about any aswer to any quest in any game. This is very useful of course, when you're stuck, and can't finish that 49 game you just bought, but on the other hand, you miss out on all the self esteem and satisfaction that you get when you do break the quest by yourself, after hours of fine gameplay.....
Problem is, with all these answers to game quests, the step of lookin everything up is too easy.... I know there are many inpatient gamers around, who want all for free with as little work as possible.... Being in game 2 hrs and already complaining that nobody will powerlevel them to L60 ASAP....
I think it's a little degrading for those who did PLAY the game, and earned their Xp/items/gold/whatever, then to those who cheated... (yes cheating, peeking at your neighburs test answers in school was also considered cheating!). Even more anoying, is that usually these players, who sneaked up to a high level too fast, often know shit abot the game, the interface or any game concept at all, so when you are playing, you get anoyed by all these dumb questions all the time, since they didn't take the time to learn, as often quests, especially the beginner quests, serve as guide through many of the world and it's concepts....
On of the replies here is often...: "It''s a multiplayer game, we need to help eachother.." etc.... Well, that's ok of course... but you're not helping someone with giving answers.... Instead, give a small clue to help one on their wy again... or acompany the quester, to aid with an extra sword or spell by his side.... that is helping....
So my question again... is it ok? Is it fair play? Is it wise....?
Awaiting your comments.....

blizzard didn't put "Share this quest" option for nothing

"Share this quest" option is just for sharing a quest within your party and only avaible for a quest without an item reward nor can it be a quest that is a followup.
And for sharing quests on the official forum, it's your decision if you wan't to spoil or just wan't to rush through a quest and not discover that some are rather humorous and others frustrating.
If your stuck in a quest, just point your browser over to thottbot, it does not give much away, just some locations for npc's/objects and so on.
Most people who get stuck does not know where they should go, mainly because they don't read the quest and just accept it and then forget that they actually have a quest journal.

I'll agree that somtimes people use outside resources too much and they will achieve a high level and know next to nothing. However there are people who are successful in other ways and still have limited knowledge, that reason alone isn't enough to stop sharing. I find enjoyment in completing a quest, not trying to figure out how to complete a quest with a sometimes overly vague or cryptic description. Would you forbid sharing knowledge if a simple question saved you a bunch of hours trying to solve a broken quest? In addition to this casual gamers like to try and accomplish something, forcing them to decipher quest descriptions travel around and then finally try to find people to help them accomplish an objective might take up their entire play session... not necessarily for a decent reward, letting them do research ahead of time if they are so inclined is a good thing. I happen to like reading through quest descriptions for fun, it lets me plan out where i want to go or try to do since i am not big on exploring the games hidden areas when there's a lot to do in areas I am currently in.
There are people who love to discover everything about a game, but they also feel accomplishment in showing what they know to an appreciative audience. Having people share game information for enjoyment is far better for me than people who enjoy griefing. Frankly I'd rather have everything in the game completely devoid of surprise than have one person take it upon themselves to try and ruin my game session just for their kicks. In the end it's all about play style. For those who enjoy exploration it is there for them to do, they do not have to do extra research. For those who want to plan ahead, heck there are even roleplaying reasons to do it. Like everything about gaming do what makes your game session better and try not to ruin it for anyone else.
