The Fisher-Price graphics of WoW bothered me back in beta. The Fisher-Price graphics of WoW still bother me today. Luckily, there are so many other things wrong with WoW; that the graphics that really bugged me kind of fell down on the list.
Would character models alone put me off on a game? Bad models, clunky animations, and the like have in fact done that.
Heck, I still think the outdated DX7 graphics of Anarchy Online look better than most of the garbage that has come out in the past few years.
But as people have said, certain games are made for the mass appeal to both kids and those with lower end systems.
The thing that has put me off this game has been the companion thing. It just hints more at the fact that BioWare has no idea what to do with a MMORPG game other than trying to make a single player RPG online.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Not only are they optional, but prevent the game from simply being your character talking to X character during the dialouge cinematics. It will be more immersive if there is another person there to comment, who isn't controlled by you.

How are companions any different from pets?
