Game contains still the korean style of grind if you want to be competative. If you dont want to be competative you wont enjoy end game (PvP) for a year or longer. A guild mate wasnt macroing/afk swimming or grinding and had about 250 Hp since launch of the game (he was playing the way it was supposed, focused mainly on magic). If you dont exploit or grind the design of DF you will stay at the bottom of the food chain and its aint fun.
If you like grind game with end game PvP, you should jump in! Other wise wait till Q4, where the prestige classes should be introduced (you wont need every skill to be competative at least i hope it!).
Too little too late, should of been this way since the beginning - Not charging people $1 for a trial.
How is it too late?
And you act like there wasn't a good reason for the 1$ trial.
Some people simply relish in being dramatic.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
While I agree somewhat, they just recently added in the anti-hack protection, so the 1 dollar was needed, not anymore.
Anti-hack protection? But but... They said they had some sort of anti-hack protection which supposedly allowed them to easily detect all cheaters by simply monitoring their logs operating a year ago. You know, back when all the cheat accusations and stolen ships were flying around.
I cannot believe how naive some of you people are. They've been lying to you about their non-existent anti-hack protection and you're just eating up their constant stream of bullshit like it's candy. There have always been cheaters in the game, and Aventurine have never had any means of detecting the more careful ones.
If a cheater is flying around, moving at incredible speeds, going through walls, teleporting from place to place or scouting someone's city by sitting a few hundred meters below AND someone from the GM staff actually notices them doing it by looking directly at them then yes, they will "detect him". Way to go. However, if a cheater is careful with the use of his "tools" and he only uses them to, say, see through walls, see other people on the radar, then they can do fuck all about it.
It's obvious that Aventurine can't openly admit that. Moronic as they might be, even they know that'd hurt their business. Besides, it's not like honesty has ever really been their strong side. The truth of the matter is, the only thing they can do, is make up some bullshit story about how they've implemented yet another non-existent anti-hacking protection. The lie serves as a sort of a deterrent to cheaters, since some of them will get scared of potentially losing their accounts. Additionally, people like you will buy into the whole facade and feel all happy knowing that they're playing a hack free game... What a joke.
Lastly, Wharg0ul/DeadlyHit, it's funny how the ex-WOW nublets are always the most vocal when it comes to defending whatever shitty feature or decision Aventurine make. Pretending you're oh so hardcore in the forums and living in denial won't change the fact that deep inside you're still a cowering little bluebie. Drop the act, it's laughable.

Shame you're a cheap ass who can't afford a buck.
Bigger shame is the game apparently isn't worth a buck, otherwise there'd be people lined up to grab it.
Too many kiddies loving there theme park games to adapt to a game like Darkfall, can't handle being killed shame
I think people dont like darkfall because it takes forever to grind and you will get wtfpwned by macro'ers that started at launch daily in 2-3 hits, and the fact that the combat is imbalanced, I mean a rank 90 Nuke is IMPOSSIBLE to miss and does double the damage of a archery shot almost, which is hard as fck to hit, specially if you have anything above 60-80 ping.
Once AV fixes these issues, and get server performance back to where it was( Yes they fcked up something a few months ago, or server is just dying and they have no money) then we might have a game.
well, this is the result of people whining, and the game being changed to appease them.
Originally, magic was supposed to be REALLY hard and expensive to level. Yes, it was meant to be overbalancingly powerful, but at the cost of getting there, would be worth the effort for those who dedicated themselves to the intentionally insane grind.
Mages were meant to be few, but powerful. On the most dedicated and wealthy would unlock the higher level spells.
But people pissed and moaned, and now everyone has high-end magic, and the gold to afford the regs.
Darkfall's original vision has been lost along the way, sadly.
You seem to ignore the fact that giving people who spend a lot of time playing the game an distinct advantage is not a good thing. DAoC tried that and lost most of their playerbase. So while you might think it is a bad thing, it is exactly why most players quit. Your preference appears to enjoy playing the game with the elite few, except that is normally not enough to pay for an expensive game like this, unless of course you want your game fees to go through the roof,.
Yeah, 'cause, you know....having to EARN something would be the end of the frickin world, now wouldn't it??
Someone who has played a game where there are no alts, and one character per server per account had BETTER feel like they earned something with all that time. A game like that NEEDS long term progression goals, or people get bored and quit.
Of course, most modern MMO players don't have the attention span of a gnat, and can't be bothered to have to put any effort into anything....so they cry and whine until everything is nerfed to easy-mode, then burn through the content and leave....due to boredom.
Leaving an empty game that's a hollow shell of what it used to be....ala SWG.

My opinion its isnt the right moment.

Translation -
1. Come give our vets someone new to kill so they don't leave!
2. Even if ONE person subs after a free trial it'll be better then we have now!
Hmm. Love PvP, but this is a real mixed bag of views.
Thought I might download the Free Trial, but maybe I'll wait and see what a few that give it a try have to say about it.

And in 14 days you will grind enough skill to accomplish...not a damn thing worth it.
Our spirit was here long before you
Long before us
And long will it be after your pride brings you to your end
From here on out the game can only grow.
I don't care about innovation I care about fun.
