We are re-working the system that sends game messages to the client, these changes will reduce the server load and increase overall performance. We have not managed to change all of the messages yet, so certain game messages won't appear in your chat window. This does NOT mean that the action you just performed did not work, you simply won't get notified about the action taking place (Some examples are: feed, loyalty and so on).
Patch size: Roughly 2 GB This is due to the new level system and total rebuild of all collision, with the new level system comes a performance increase for clients and server and allows us to add more props to the world at lower costs of performance. Also please note that the silent patch installer takes quite sometime to patch all your files due to the size of the patch, so please don't cancel it, just wait it out.
------ ADDITIONS & CHANGES ------
General: - Arrows can now get stacked in larger amounts but can only be equipped in stacks of 25.
AI & Mounts: - Players should now be able to have their pet creature spawned by their side, when re-logging after a server reboot. - Pet Creatures will stay in the world whenever a player is logged out and as long as the server is running. - A new pet-player connection system has been implemented that should help keeping the connection between the tamer and its pet. - Creatures that get tamed will now change their name to "Pet".
Art & Sound: - Implemented the new level streaming system (smoother loading of props and so on). - Rain ambiances have been made softer. - Lightning sounds are played farther away from the source. - More lightning spots added across Myrland. - Spider caves have been expanded.
Magic: - Line of sight checks are now active again.
Skills & Attributes: - Locking of skills is now working. (Decrease is being worked on.)
UI: - Spellbook school name added. - Pyrite and Coal icons changed.
------ BUG FIXES ------
General: - Added a minor fix that should get rid of the infinite spinning sword if you wait 60 sec, if this still doesn't help the server is probably acting up. - All equipped items should now correctly be dropped when you are killed.
AI & Mounts: - Creature roaming should now work as intended. - Stables should now work as intended. - Pets should once again be able to attack targets (Please note that due to the game messaging systems, creatures that are to afraid to attack won't relay that message to you. So if your pig does not want to attack something, its most likely to afraid to attack the target). - Players should no longer loose contact with their pets when they die. - Players should now again regain control over their pet when dismounting or falling of the mount.
Skills & Attributes: - Gathering should no longer crash your client. - Re-logging while reading should no longer create a book in your inventory. - Things you gain from extraction should now also auto-stack. - Stables does now have a skill requirement for retrieving stable receipts and also at pet transfers. The skill needed is creature control and needs to be at or above the creature's control skill value. Certain simple creatures, like Pigs have a creature control skill requirement of zero, which means anyone can retrieve them but won't be able to control them very well. - Mounts can now be handled by anyone and not just by players with taming and creature control skill. No skill is needed to transfer mounts to another player or retrieving mount stable receipt. Players that do not have any taming or creature control skill may give their mounts the following commands: Stay, Follow, Bandage, Feed and Rename. No skill experience can be gained by these commands for mounts.
Art & Sound: - If you logout on top of an object you should no longer spawn inside of it. - Shields should now correctly be equipped again. - Shields now correctly show up on characters. - The sound should no longer sound weird when it rains. - Cascading snowballs when other player appears have been fixed. - Smother transitions between weather zones. - Clouds should no longer be bright white at night time. - Lightning flashes have been slowed down to their correct speed. (Seriously, when a full storm is raging at night, make sure you have your headphones on! Its awesome!)
UI: - General Character Creation GUI fixes (visuals). - Inventory weight should now correctly be updated when mining/woodcutting. - Full stacks should no longer stack on top of each other in the bank. - The 'OK-button' now closes the options windows.
------ KNOWN ISSUES ------
Issues not listed here can be found in previous patch notes and on the Bug Tracker under the 'confirmed' status.
- When looting and trading your inventory won't update the weight correctly. - When placing a torch in your off-hand the fire effect will be rotated 90 degrees in the wrong direction. - Refining has various issues causing you to gain only 1 item after the process regardless of the amount of materials that was used in the process. We're working on it. (If you have a friend, trade him/her the stack of 1 and then do the process again and you will get one more item.) - If you have stabled a pet and the server crashes/reboots, when you log back on the pet will be recreated by your side and you will still have the receipt. - If you are mounted and the server crashes/reboots, then you then a mount will be recreated by your side as a pet but you will still be mounted on your original mount. - Splitting stacks in the inventory will make the stack auto stack on itself again if you only have one stack of the material type you are trying to split. You can use a work around which is: Split stack in inventory, place new stack in Bank (entire stack will move.) Move stack back out to inventory and it will be split.
------ DISABLED SYSTEMS ------ - Housing (Houses, keeps, palisades and bridges) - Guilds - Thievery - Locking/Decreasing of Attributes. - Decreasing of Skills. - Fall damage.

Yeah, the same guy keeps making new accounts and trolls the same forum? It gets tiresome.
Personally, I don't care if housing is in at release. It's been implemented since OB so I'm not worried if SV wants to tweak it. I'd rather see thieving stay out until they get it right, so no worries there. Show me an MMO that DOESN'T have a 'known issues' list somewhere, and I'll show you a game that's not well documented.
edit: None of that matters though, because he was obviously trolling. Sorry for taking the bait.
OT: Still downloading patch, I'll post when I get some time to test it out.
EDIT: Played around for a bit. The graphics update seems to do the trick, the fps hiccups that used to hit in towns haven't showed up thus far... it's looking pretty good actually.

I don't think we really want to start talking about everyone's join dates....
What's important is that there are 3 days to go till launch. Then all the forum debating is moot as they will sink or swim.

In the center of meduli with all graphic options at the highest I have no fps drop or lag what so ever, brilliant! Although there was only 8 people on the screen we shall see. Can't wait to see the upgraded weather effects taking place.

Yes there is a huge increase in FPS and no drops that interfere with ingame performance, need more people online though. Seem not that many got that last patch yet.
Desync seem to be totally gone which is good cause it was a gamebreaker for me.
This is great news... Now where is that bananaguy?
Playing: ARMA 2 Waiting for: Darkfall: UW Played: Ultima Online, Age of Conan, Anarchy Online, Planetside, Dark age of Camelot, EQII, WoW, SWG, FFXI and a lot more
HAH where is the dancing bannana now? You are now saying what we (the guys who like MO) have been saying all along. Just wait until launch. Its quite ironic thats all you have to say, its seems as the roles have turned. Xsyon maybe a better forum for you since they seem to be doing pretty bad. Its like shooting fish in a barrel over there.
He's saying that because there's only 3 days left now until the release, not enough time for SV to make any significant changes to the game. Crunch time has arrived in other words, so I wouldn't start claiming victory just yet.

DING DING DING...we have a winner
Let's keep in mind something as simple as 72% of the current testers polling that they do not like the current combat system. This is in a combat focused game.. and the poll was taken 1 day ago. Theres no real need to keep discussing the same flaws at this point however. The game is 3 days away from facing the music. It will sink or swim based on it's merits or lack there of. Time will tell!

I agree completely with this part. . they have soooo much stuff done. . they just can't seem to get it working the way they want. I expect that they will and as their experience grows they will be able to add things faster etc. Yes. . this is wishful thinking but honestly MObi Wan Kenobi is my only hope.

haha, yea. SV has a good track record of implementing what they talk to their customers about, it just takes much longer than I'd like. I'm not concerned though; most MMO's don't have housing in at release, and SV has already hammered down most of it (cuz it's been in since I started playing). I'm not sweating launch tbh, as long as SV can keep up the pace for the months that follow.

Keep grasping on what negative you can find. Balancing is a never ending beast that many MMOs have to deal with. The people are not asking for a ENTIRE remake of the system as you seem to be implying. Only that the values need tweaked. Not to mention that only 100 people voted out of THOUSANDS. As I said before, keep on trying. Soon enough you will phase out like the other negative posters in these forums when the game goes live.
I don't expect the launch to be perfect but if SV can pump out update patches/bug fixes this big in 4 days I have much hope. BTW the patch was 2gig. Launch in another 4 days , its very well possible that at this rate we will see another fairly beefy patch.
SV notorious for actually having a "miracle" the one patch to silence them all? Time will tell.

Played alot today and what i experienced ingame today is already what you claim they cant deliver, a significant change for the better.
So seems to me the game is coming along just nicely.

SV has already won, the game is stable , desync is gone. What else is there? I mean seriously everything that has been posted on this forum negative about SV has been addressed/fixed. What changes are you talking about?

The desync/lag is currently "fixed" while the majority of features are turned off, and low populated server. They did not "win" yet, you don't seem to know in how many ways launch can screw up..
The below is from today only, from different people, and you to call the game stable? Hmm...
[20:58] smells like a crash with no one to start it again to me
[20:33] are you kidding me? I hit login and it crashes again. I think mortal is actually trying to make me not play -.-
[18:03] nice patch, everything really alot better, looking great running great. until it crashed and broke, now it's not working
[15:27] oook ... when i equip a torch and klick on it to unequip it my game crashes, anyone has the same issue?
[14:45] i think hte nodes crashed
[12:04] major crash
[09:35] just tried to relog and crashed
P.S. Server is still down as I am writing this.
P.S.S One hour later, server down again.
Not to mention the flying mobs, zebra shadows, crash from reading some books, invisible mobs and much more..

The majority? Hardly, a few things are turned off right now, which was working before the engine update. If the server is down most likely they are working in some server side patches or getting ready for another patch. I am sorry to say but maybe some of the negativity around here has rub off on you. The game is looking like its going to pull out regardless of what the nay sayers have to say. Please check back after launch so I can do my fudderwacker dance.

It was actually crash, which was confirmed by som mods. It's saturday evening, I doubt they are working atm (Yes, I heard before how important it is to them, just saying).
As you could see from IRC quotes, quite few still have troubles with random crashes, to contrast what you been saying. As for the features.. Let's see what is turned off atm:
------ DISABLED SYSTEMS ------
- Housing (Houses, keeps, palisades and bridges)
- Guilds
- Thievery
- Locking/Decreasing of Attributes.
- Decreasing of Skills.
- Fall damage.
Housing, Thievery and guild system are important features of the game (Basically 50% of current visible features). Fall damage is too, an important part of the gameplay. I think there is a good reason for them being turned off, despite them working before the update, they may cause trouble now (it was proved that even small upgrades to the game can affect it pretty badly).
I am not trying to make a point that MO wont make it. I am trying to say that it is far to early to celebrate, we will see in a week ^^
Out of curiosity is Speedtree 5.0 in already and are the forests now looking like proper forests? Havent played in a while wonder if someone has any videos/screens they can share.

Nah, it's not in yet. Apparently the new Unreal engine upgrade they just finished has made ST more viable (they couldn't get the performance they wanted out of it before). In the meantime, trees are a bit fugly.
Nahh the game is in a condition where it's very playable however I hope they do finish revamping some of the features they have removed before or shortly after launch.

But all MMO combat systems suck pretty bad... How many would say the same in another game?
It still is premature to launch the game however, it needs more time. But I guess SV is at the point where they either release the game or go broke.

Reading thishttp://www.mortalonline.com/forums/43393-big-improvement-speed-graphics-since-v-0-16-27-36-june-4th.html topic, it seems that the latest patch brought HUGE improvement on performance and also somehow better graphics. I can't tell if it's true cause I'm still downloading patch myself, but seems very promising.
