    1. Its bioware.

    2. It will let us explore the Star Wars Universe on a MMO scale with all my friends.

    3. It takes place on a massive scale, over tons of planets...some new, some old.

    4. It brings back WoW style faction PvP... The kind of PvP that creates comradery, bitter enemies, and an awesome feeling of being part of a war.

    5. It has a full dialogue and cinematic  system that will boost immersion to levels we have only seen thus far in single player games.

    6. It has a massive budget that will ensure that corners don't get like in other promising, but ultimately failed MMOs.

    7. Super pumped for cover system, knockback system, etc...

(Imagine being behind a barricade shooting into a crowd of jedi duking it out, while a trooper lays down suppressive fire and knocksback any melee attackers trying to break your line.  Im just worried about that sith warrior leap action, that could seriously maul ranged players)

    8. Companions. I dont need to LFH anymore if im just off to a particularly tough encounter. Not to mention a friend. Im lonely.

    9. Light side/dark side system. We finally get a system where players arent all clones of each other at level cap. The decisions we make throughout the game will make us all unique. Cool.

    10. Its BIOWARE. MUTHA!

    11. It's only Alpha

    12. They haven't said they won't add feature X, so it could still be implemented.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

    LOL.

    You also forgot:

    11. Bioware has one of the greatest names in the industry behind them - EA

    12. Bioware also the other greatest name in the industry behind them - Lucas Arts

    13. Bioware is using the most experienced talents in the industry to make the game - many from Sony Oline Entertainment.

    14. Because story is one of the things we have all been looking for in an MMO...

    15. ...And voice-acting is the other.

    16. Bioware has squarely aimed this game at the core demographic in the industry - 8-16 year olds.

    17. Bioware is creating a game that tells the story for you, setting you on a preset path, meeting preset characters and making preset choices.

    18. Bioware is making sure you never get lost in an open world by having the game play out along pathways and platforms. But don't worry! Some of them will also be mazes!

    19. Bioware will ensure you can focus on the real Star Wars story with no distractions like flight!

    20. Bioware is making a real MMO, not an SPRPG online - there will be auction houses, mounts and crafting. WoW! I'm going to make my Sith Inquistor into the best chef on the server!

From where I'm standing those really are 10 great reasons. I'll give you another one to boot:

    11. Bioware was making Mass Effect 2 while you were posting nonsense like a petulant child.

Don't forget Dragon Age and Jade Empire. What great games those were.

And let's not forget none of those games are MMORPG's, nor even have significant online functions for that matter.

...Nah, let's forget about that and put more significance to reasons 1-10 instead.

    Cool. I'm adding to this:

    1. It's made by Bioware, one of the most successful game companies around and one that can stand equal next to a Blizzard, Rockstar, Valve and Ubisoft in terms of quality. Also, Bioware is known for the great atmosphere and storytelling they manage to put in their games.

    2. It's a Star Wars game, and many have good memories and praise for KOTOR, the former Star Wars game Bioware made.

    3. All the favorite archetypes that you see in the movies you will find back one way or another in SW ToR: from bounty hunter to smuggler, to jedi knight.

    4. Next to all the usual elements that a MMO has, the general worldbuilding and storylines within that world will be far better than in the majority of MMO's, adding to the immersion while you play.

    5. One of the more talented game developer from SWG has joined Bioware's SW ToR team, Matt Boudreaux. Of him is being said: "Boudreaux, known as AdeptStrain on the SOE forums, implemented some of the most ground-breaking additions to the aging game Star Wars Galaxies, such as new Jedi and melee animations, the Appearance Tab, and the Chronicles System. His role on the SWG team was solidified by his role in creating some of the best instances like Hoth and Death Troopers."  (see here for the full article)

The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's

The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

Gosh! The SOE Developer who added Zombie Stormtroopers to the NGE SWG is involved in SWTOR? Could the news get any better?!?

Oh, that argument: you mean like Bioware's NWN series didn't have online functions or all kinds of online servers?

Or, like the games that Blizzard, Verant (Everquest) or Origin Systems (Ultima Online) made weren't MMORPG's, before those companies made their 1st MMO?

    Hmm, interesting yes.

Think of it what you like, the majority of people that know of his work seems to hold im in higher regards.

... funny btw, for someone who thinks lowly of SW ToR to the point of hating it, all of your posts are happening in the SW ToR forumthreads. Why not post on forumthreads of MMO's you really like or looking forward to, why only in the threads of the game you scorn?

    Do they?

It would seem the majority of people who know of his work are SWG players. Two points to consider:

1/. SWG continues to hammorhage subscribers like a gaping arterial wound.

2/. He is leaving SWG and his post is not being filled.

Now think - what would you say those two points imply regarding the quality of the work and vision of the man who introduced 'new jedi' and who is now part of the $150m operation to make SWTOR? Do you still feel confident this is going to be the greatest game ever!?!
