Those tickets are way too cheap..to go so fast means cheap..put at 1000dollars each..and will take 1 hour to sell them all..and blizz makes even more money...together with the same old content they put out in expansions its a money maker..good one.

I recall Blizzard stating last year that they make a considerable loss on BlizzCon, just sayin'.

As for eBay everyone should be warned; this year there's some kind of bar-code system with the tickets and you may need to provide photo ID to get in the event on the day. Could be a problem if you've bought someone elses ticket.

No discussion needed, company greed when it comes to Activision Blizzard isn't something you can discuss with reasonable arguments with people who're that much into a game or company that they won't see any bad sides from it or any good sides of other games or game companies: usually referred to as 'fanbois', but I'd refer to them as the MMO equivalent of hardcore soccer/football fans.

Personally, I think the OP has some statements in it that could be considered trolling/gloating, but if Blizzard wants to charge 150 dollars, then they should do it.  My guess is hardcore fans are willing to pay even a lot more for tickets and other stuff WoW/Blizzard related.

I don't think Blizzard does Blizzcon for the money. It's a fan, marketing thing.

Only a fool would buy a ticket on Ebay I have been to all the Blizzcons when you enter Blizzcon you must show your photo ID and the credit card you purchased the tickets with, if you don't have that you don't get in ticket or no.  I have seen so many people each year either wandering around looking for the guy they bought the tick from to show his ID so they can get in or being surprised with the fact that hey you don’t have the CC you purchased this ticket with so we can’t let you in.

Ya, it was my understanding that Blizzard is lucky to break even on Blizzcon.  I mean, they had Ozzy play last year.  That alone took a huge chunk out of their ticket sales.

I think Blizzard can afford to lose money on one thing. Besides, the marketing value of Blizzcon isn't something you can measure in money.

ya I really dont understand the allure of Blizzcon.  I mean, if the tickets were $50 or $75 I might, but Comic-Con and Dragon*Con are huge conventions that dwarf Blizzcon and they dont come close to selling out this fast (if they sell out at all and they cost $50-$75 depending how you purchase)

Dragon*Con has a complete MMO track that, not only covers all things World of Warcraft (probably too much if you want my opinion) but also has panels by sony, ncsoft etc. etc. as well as MMO demos from across the entire genre.  My first experience with Fallen Earth was in 2008.  Ive been able to speak to Funcom developers directly about The Secret World and get info long before it was posted to any news sources.

at any rate, blizzcon is really a big to do about not a lot.  Unless of course you like buying blizzard merchandise, which from what I hear is the biggest thing going at blizzcon after you get past the opening speech.  Basically your paying $150 to hear a 20 minute speech on what to expect from one developer in the next year and access to directly purchase the same blizzard shwag you can buy from Jinx

I know I wouldn't be going for transgendered Elves. But to each, their own.

Yeah and you see everyone from Porn stars to television personalities just wondering around. Last Year I saw Wil Wheaton, Mia Rose, Samuel L Jackson and they were just attending. I will say this last year Security was Nazi as hell, My wife was just talking to Wil Weaton about Big Bang theory he was very nice and talking to everyone and this lard ass security guard  came up and started treating her like she was a stalker, wheaton told the guy If I need your help. I'll ask for it and apologized to her. He then signed her swag bag which was cool.

They certainly were.  I worked for a UK gaming company that used to organise a huge convention every year and we had as much fun as the visitors.  I've never since seen such a good-natured, enthusiastic, friendly mass of people all piled into one place at the same time.  Happy times indeed.

I give them props for that.

It's a marketing event. Blizzcon => advertising their games (without paying for TV, homepage ads) in front of their large fanbase. You really think a company as greedy as Blizzard has become wouldn't care about a loss? They sure do just Blizzard also knows that they'll make so much more money in the long run by advertising their games at Blizzcon.

Ebay prices are just going over the roof incredible.

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

I have to agree, Dragon*Con is the Con to get it all instead of a Blizzcon or a Fan Faire  The MMO track covers and allows Established and New Companies alike to forum with fans.  Dragon*con may not sell out but with the numbers that attend ,a first timer  will feel overwhelemed. The cost is now $100 per person and will be higher at the door. Oh another thing , if one has not resevered a room at one of the host hotels by this time , one would have to stay at an off site hotel .

To be fair the prices are high cause only 20,000 are coming and the 3 million probably covers the cost of the event and whoever they get to play like Ozzy at the end of last years.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

No, these are real life girls. I'd explain how you can tell, go into detail but I think on this forum it would be a lost cause.

I've always wondered why so many people go nuts over Blizzcon, some having no problem dropping $150 for the ticket and whatever other travel expenses to go there... just to see some demo for one of their upcoming releases that will get leaked online the next day.

Then again, I probably shouldn't be surprising considering how many people had no problem throwing away $25 for WoW's "my little sparkle pony".

I personally don't get it, but to each their own.

I've been to the last 2 Blizzcon and going to this one as well.  For me it's not cosplay girls...ok maybe a little ;)  But it has a party feel to it, with live music, and celebs.  Have you seen prices of concerts recently,  $150 is a steal.  Last year I met Samuel L. Jackson, got to shake his hand, and talk a little (he's a busy man).  That's what it's all about, for me at least.  It's a concert for gamers. (the Cosplay doesn't hurt though)
