Hi, I have been playing both games over the past month. Beta's and live. I sat down the last few weeks and made a table of the features. Please have a look, if you need more info on either game this might help.

Wow great job! Thanks!
First off... that comparison is extremely inaccurate. One example:
Max Number of characters a person can have:
EQ2: 4 characters per account
WoW: (Correction): 50 per account, 10 per server.
There's also tons of other falicies and inaccurate info in that comparison.
it was only 8 when I was playing. If they did in fact change it to 50, then I can fix that real fast.
what else do I have wrong??
I need a new MMOG
Hi guys.. first of all i would like to say "hi" since this is my first comment on this site.
I think it's a fine list you've made even though, there are some things which i think should be mentioned. In EQ2 you are able to change a lot of things in the face, as an example the nose, eyebrows etc, but it's not mentioned that you're actually able to change the entire face in WOW. I know it wont be the same, but atleast there are some changes in the face, other than the hair and the facial hair.
There are a LOT of servers and soon when people are starting to pay the monthly fees, there will probably be a lot more! (atleast that's what they've promised)
Mcluzy out
i think it was eq2 bias and you got some wow facts wrong
---------------------------------
Zimok - PS - Emerald
Zimok - WoW - PvP Server
Zimok - SWG - Bloodfin

Very EQ2 biased, I mean the title of the web page is Ever Quest 2 lol!
Its basically all the features of EQ2 and whether WoW has them or not, plus the WoW information is wrong.
No points about what WoW offers that EQ2 doesnt.
Even the questions like Instancing are slanted against WoW.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
Its not EQ2s fault it has features WoW doesn't. Instead of bitching about how it missed some features of WoW point them out, cause in the mean time you sound like a dissapointed fanboy.
Very good. Put together well. Just by reading off of WoW's website it IS very accuarate, however, I am not sure about the amount of characters per server in WoW, 50 does seem high. Too bad that you will get flamed by fanbois from both sides. But one thing you do have wrong for EQ2 is that you do suffer item decay from combat. Last night after I was grouped fighting scarecrows for about 2.5 hours, I went to mendor and it was down to 90%. I didn't die once.

Really nice post and side by side comparison data 8) Think there are a couple inaccuracies so of course I'm going to point them out though
Do the NPCs talk to you with text or real voice.
All voice with text
Text only
A few of the Named or questgiver NPC's in WoW do speak also from what I saw in the open beta. Anyone else confirm this?
Also the system requirements you listed for EQ2 are their basement and from all the reports I've read and performance data from friends playing EQ2, unless you get up into the 2.5-3+ GHz processors with a gig of ram you are hard pressed to live with the lag/disconnects. And similarly I have heard that dial-up = nearly impossible, but cannot confirm this as no one I know personally still plays on a dial-up.

Impressive! Good work! Thanks a lot for this useful overview!
Maybe you could add:
Can you be a pure crafter?
Are there other skills affecting your crafting skills?
Not easy to do: Comparing the maximum level is not very precise.. you should add something like "Average time to hit maximum level"
EQ2 you can be if you want, but you can be both crafter and adventurer. Each professions xp is kept seperate. You get crafting xp for crafting and fighting xp from well, fighting (and quests). Crafting is a bit different and I like it. It is more interactive than just combining x + y = z. You have crafting skills that you use during the process or you can have an accident (I died from crafting before because the furnace had a flare up and hit me for 150 damage. But this can be controlled with crafting skills.)
Anyways, you can be level 30 crafter and level 50 Adventurer (like adventuer professions, craftsman professions also have different craftsman classes and subclasses). I always hated crafting in games but so far I like EQ2's system. (Also on a side note, I also hated playing support roles like healers, but I am a lvl 16 Shaman and lovin it )

Too biased and inaccurate.
Insted of complaining about it tell us what is inaccurate. Thats like 4 posts just saying "inaccurate" with no facts beside the charecters per server. If you don't have any facts against the post than don't say anything at all. Im tired of the constant bitching with no factuall backup.
All-in-all it ain't inaccurate. It does look like you went down a list of EQ2 features and how things are handled there and the pulled matching stuff from WoW.
Sort of like Pepsi running a taste test ad with coke. Pepsi sets the parameters.
Like I said, and a few others have said, if hes missing something from WoW, then SAY WHAT IT IS. Quit whining about it, and show us where its wrong! Because in the mean time you just sound like fanoys who are dissapointed that your game doesn't offer as much as EQ2.

How is him stating that good and evil can't group creating a negative point for WoW. What if the WoW column was replaced with DAoC? You can't speak the same language, chat with other players, or group with other players of the same realm (at least when I played). It's just another aspect of the games. I'm not an EQ2 fanboy (i am waiting for Pirates of the Burning Sea) and I have nothing negative to say about WoW because I have never played it. My point was simply that the info he gave for WoW is on their website.
Now don't take this as flaming you, it's just asking a question. Once again how is him stating that good and evil can't group creating a negative point for WoW. People may like that aspect, people may not.

You consider Tauren and Night elves a feature? I guess froglocks and Ratonga are a feature for EQ2 then, because you know, putting a purple skin on an elf and combining them with an amazon background is so original.
Perhaps the table is slightly biased toward EQ2. Perhaps it is completely unintentional. Perhaps the guy is simply trying to help people buy a game that has features that they like and not have to waste $100 on both games to find the game that they want. Perhaps.
I, myself... after seeing that neither game is what I want, prefer to wait instead for the DAoC - Catacombs release on December 7. In my opinion, DAoC is a better game then either EQ2 or Wow, and that is before their new expansion, Catacombs. Catacombs looks to greatly be increasing graphical goodness as well with the new expansion, as well as adding a lot of instancing that is very well thought out. They also just went through their free Realm vs Realm expansion last summer. Personally, while I get the feeling that both Blizzard and Sony are only putting out "gimmick" games with no real imagination or passion behind them, I truly feel that Mythic has a lot of love for something besides the money that they make. I honestly feel that Mythic cares more about their players experience, level of fun, and shows more devotion to the quality of their game rather then just putting out the eye-candy or pizazz that seem to overwhelm EQ2 and WoW.
Am I a DAoC fanboy? In the case of WoW vs EQ2 vs DAoC... damn right I am a DAoC fanboy. In my opinion, Mythic is kicking the hell outta both Blizzard and Sony.. and I really do believe that one or even two years from now, DAoC will have more active subscribers then either of these two mega-releases put out this month. Time will tell, but I guarantee you that EQ2 and WoW will not hurt DAoC. And in fact with what I have seen, both of these over-produced, over-hyped games may actually HELP DAoC before it's all over.
My hopes are that Mourning or Dark and Light will be truly what I want in a mmorpg however... Until then DAoC is EASILY my choice.
I know.. I know... here come the flames at me. Just mark my words, and we shall see if I am the idiot you think I am in time, or if I might have just hit a vein of truth.

In general, I think the chart is biased. Not much else to say...

I do not think it is biased, I think it's really well done and quite accurate.
And I am not a fanboi, I have to admit I'm getting EQ2 tommorow, but I've played the WoW open beta and I will probably be getting that when it's out in Europe unless EQ2 totally blows me away.
I like both games.
