And what of the graphics? I have a uber system and they werent up to par. Have they improved?
I believe the graphics in MO have always been good, but I'm not a huge graphics extremist.
I believe they have improved them over the last couple of weeks, but graphics and art style are such an opinion-based thing, only you can tell if you "like" them or not.
Personally, I like them (though I think the trees could use a little work).
In open beta I had an issue where I couldn't even enter the game. Upon seeing the Splash screen my game crashed hoping they fixed this, still deciding on whether or not to buy the game, for some reason there website won't load, probably way to much traffick right now.
For all of you that have no lag issues say where you are from, I'd be playing for the U.S. east coast.
Same here, US east coast. No lag, althought a spike here and there, but rarely.
StarVaults maybe actually wrote their name in the history of how to turn bad performance into good performance.
That what I totally show my respect on developers that did bad at first and then turned it around patiently !! (noted to Funcom as well).
I wished SV all the luck and I might be going to pick it up this few days. Still deciding on this or APB !~
It's still early - there will inevitably be some problems with the game at some point during the launch phase, or some people that have specific technical problems. It's new MMO law - problems almost HAVE to happen.
But I have to agree, it's a good start. It still needs a lot of polish, but SV has done a nice job with the game - I hope they continue working as hard as they have been to keep improving the game.
Very smooth launch! Never been in a launch so good actually.
As I been trying to say, that is because that wasn't a big deal of a "launch", they just started charging money. There is no difference between the "launched" game and the beta version people were playing the day before except for the loot fix. There are same people playing it who were playing it the day before, give or take ~50 extra.
I would really be surprised if launch didn't go smooth, since the only thing they had to worry about was extra load on the server. Nothing else was different, they just slapped a "We are now open" sign on the game..
Give or take 50 extra? Even wandering for 30 minutes away from fab I saw more people than I've seen in any one place during most parts of the beta.
You can't give SV even a little credit on a good launch?
I mean 50 extra new customers who bought the game on the release day. Ofcourse, the servers are under a lot bigger load and crashed just ones to my knowledge, so credit to SV for keeping them up.
I dont know anyone thats been following this one. Just has the look and feel of 3year old mmo. It should be F2P
Well, then how are indy game companies supposed to make it when they can't summon the resources of a AAA game company?
It shouldn't be free to play because they basically scraped up money, got investors and need to repay people, costs and stay in business.
Unless you are advocating a "free to play" system where there is a cash shop. But as can be seen by Turbine's announcment that doesn't sit well with people.
Indy companies aren't going to be able to compete toe to toe with large game developers so they are going to have to give in somewhere.
And besides, the graphics are perfectly acceptable if not cutting edge. As long as the game play is reasonably decent I think they can be overlooked by those who might prefer a prettier game.

You guys are silly. It was a beta, when you hand people money and give them a chance it's an investment. This "losing hope" idea is funny actually. those games that have failed, to your standards could have been better if half the players didn't jump ship as is.
And the only difference here between Age of Conan and Mortal is that mortal didn't boast. So with this lesson learned, maybe all companies should just keep quiet from here on out to please people.
I've read two things so far in this thread and on this forums. One, bugs, glitches really stupid silly things, no lag , smooth play. Two, Graphics. Well, they obviously nailed the first one, yet people complain about the second one. If the game had a smooth launch, so far so good. But people next are going to either complain about the graphics , or that the system is trash.
You wait, just like every other game. I don't think people quite understand that they can not have their cake and eat it too. Doesn't matter how wonderful your rig is or how spoiled you may be, start accepting it for what it is and stop looking at games so damn negatively.
Either way though, congrats to Star Vault. This makes me smile
Edit: Which is why I have said what I said to stop that negative BS. Needs to clear the air.
so i take it that they reimplemented the things that were removed from the game to help with performance? like for instances the thievery system...?
The patch notes said thievery is excluded at this time. I am not playing though, so not 100% sure.

After three days of downloading and installing patches, I tried to create an account. Got the message it was created and needed to be activated. Neither of the links in the emails for the store account or the forum account worked, nor did their included backup links.
Launcher doesn't work either, getting a message about a missing compiler and needing to "reinstall the application".
As a customer who wants to pay and play, MO swings and misses at its first three pitches. Will wait and see if it improves before paying for a box version.
I'm going to side with the more sceptical among us and say that the reason the launch went so smoothly is because the population on the live server is pretty much the same as the population on the closed beta server the day before, so SV didn't have to deal with the crush of new people that many mainstream titles suffer. It's hardly the most hotly anticipated MMO to go live, nor has it had a great deal of positive PR in the run-up, so I'd say the chances of there being a sudden rush of new players buying the game and starting subscriptions is low.
If that is the case, then the only reason the cities look packed now is because the server has just been wiped and everyone is starting out from scratch in the cities again. Give it a few days and you'll probably find the crowds will have dispersed and the population density returns to closed-beta levels. I could be wrong of course, but time will tell.
Still, at the end of the day the most important thing for SV is that they retain enough players to sustain them. I highly doubt MO will ever be a popular title, but if it can get enough subscribers to survive and have something to build upon then SV can be congratulated for succeeding in a very ambitious project.

There were a couple hundred people at the fab spawn point. There were, at one time, about 500 people on the MO forums (average is 100). The server WAS more stressed than I have ever seen, people were/are EVERYWHERE. On what are you basing your understanding of the launch-day population?
Are you guys allowed to post pictures/fraps of the ingame material at launch? I would like to see how much of a game there is now at launch. Early leaks where, well they did not help, I think many people would like to know the launch result and to be honest a fraps or some pictures later on would tell more than any wall of text

You couldn't be more wrong, hundreds in fab, a lot of people in Vadda, never mind the PK towns and Meduli ect.
They're bringing the server down at 1PM their time tomorrow, and everyday after that for maintenance and patching.
A crash issue has arisen, more an more people are entering the game it seems, and something is causing the server to crash periodically now. Not surprised.
To the people that think the server population is no dif. then it was yesterday, you have no idea what you're talking about. I've been logging in since day one of block A, I've NEVER seen this many people in the world. Even in the wilderness, and I'm talking way out in the wilds, around Meduli there are a ton of people. Meduli itself is packed with people.
Aside from the crashing periodically, the server runs amazingly well with all of the people; even when in Meduli.
Mats was on MO Radio just a bit ago. They had a bit of discussion about thievery. It sounds as if it's not turned on for more then just attempting to balance. I suspect that when it's brought back it'll involve more then just snooping and pilfering. Mats basically said something along the lines of Thievery being an actual profession with range of skillsets that allows for someone to be a dedicated thief, or for someone to have just some thievery skills. We should see a lot of skills added that will greatly expand what a player can do with their character; you could say that Mats cautioned against looking at what's there now and thinking that that is it or that what we see now is how things will be as far as skills players can learn.
I did see some very talented horses a little bit ago. They were walking on their faces. Aside from that I still haven't come across anything serious.

I don't think you're gonna find many tears shed that thievery is out for launch. (except for me, but who cares).
And thievery is the only 'instance', so I see why you trailed off there. You're getting desperate.
