The devs are planning to have a few magic schools but I don't think they've announced what types (expect at least a couple weather-control spells down the road). Yes, there are 12 schools of magic planned for the not-so-distant future. And necromancy is one of them! Our guild leader is planning on being a necromancer
The really exciting thing about magic in MO, is that some spells, even some schools (hinted necromancy) will require the control of certain house plots in-game. So it will be a really strategic location to hold that house, if only your guild has it, only your guild has that spell. Things like this that really get me excited about this game.
But dev's are going to release it when its really good (the same with thievery) so just hang-on a bit and we should see it. I love how magic is going to be really strategic (like UO magic) not just the PEW PEW of modern MMO's.
