Bioware makes good games, but they're substantially over hyped (I hated the KotoR games, for example. NWN was amazing, although they made more than their share of blunders with the game). Gratned, I'm not a Star Wars fan, so I won't be playing it, but I've seen nothing so far to me that indicates this game is going to be a blockbuster.
As another poster mentioned, it depends largely on how much input EA has.
Having been burned by STO, I worry when I see pics and video that make the enging look similar to STO. The companions remind me of STO too. I hope i'm just being paranoid.
This game will be epic. It will be better than every other current MMO. It will not be watered down. It will rape you while you sleep.
And none of those are truee MMO's so some people are stupid to think that this will be great based on those. i hope it is good but if it's not oh well. What you really need to worry about is how fast most of the people will go through all the content and move on to another game. Or they will all come here and bash your game for haveing to wait this long for watered down single player game that wants to be an mmo.
How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?
I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
I like how your post is based in nothing and you start it with an acronym for an aggressive and offensive attack against people.
About a video game.
About a video game aimed at kids.
Oh dear did he do what the haters here do in every single thread.......... He must have struck a cord if you are using kiddies as an argument against what he posted. Well done OP

OP is correct Bioware have made amazing single player linear games..O wait this is a ....
Before WOW blizzard never made an mmo and we all know how much of a failure that game is..O wait thats not ri..
"We have barred the gates, but can not hold them for long... They have taken the Bridge and the Second Hall... We can not get out. The end comes. Drums, drums in the deep. They are coming..."
also @ everyone who does not agree with my initial post:
You are entitled to your opinion, however it just happens to be the wrong one.
Is very big of you to admit your wrong i must say.
And to respond to your previous post , Blizzard set out to make a MMORPG , Bioware have set out to make a RPGO
RPGO, MMORPG, whatever you want to call it it doesn't matter. I simply stated that this game will be epic. With that being said you admit then that bioware is an awesome company and that they have set out to make an amazing game?
I accept your apology.

Lol ok enough tit for tat , bioware do make very good games not my kinda RPG though im a bethesda kinda guy and to be fair to you it maybe very well be epic, but i think it will be short lived for most and not what we are expecting for traditional MMO players.
However i have no doubt it will be quality and polished with what there intentions are for a final product and i hate to say the phrase theme park cause that does my head in to when people say it but alas i believe this is where its heading allbeit on a grander scale with your beloved Bioware at the helm.
I think the problem is that the Star Wars name is too overwhelming. I know plenty of buddies who only see Star Wars as the next MMO, because they are a Star Wars fan. On nearly every MMO's people will come and post about how good the game is before even reading up on other games.
Take a look at FFXIV, APB, GW2 and then come back see if you really prefer this game over the other ones. I treat these games as though I am anticipating them, so I read them all and THEN figure out which one is better for me. It's annoying because you have Star Wars and Final Fantasy fans on here thinking there games are the best, even though it may just be another generic MMO.
If it wasn't called Star Wars: The Old Republic, would it still hold as an MMO?

Actually there is a huge difference. Now let me start by saying that I am hoping that this game will be great and I do have only the highest feelings for it. However, Bioware also has made me really nervous. They have said that they expect over 2 million subscribers. While this may be possible, expecting it is the wrong way to go in this industry. everyone who has played MMOs for a while knows that WoW is not the rule to the industry and that most games don't break a million active subscribers.
Then there is the idea of this game being an RPGO instead of an MMORPG. The issue here is that they seem to be designing it entirely to follow the storylines and then that's it. Why this can be an issue is because if people play all 8 stories (even if they do both Light and Dark sides) and there is nothing left then they will stop subscribing, lowering the population.
While this game will probably be a fun game and have a good story, Bioware has seemed to show an ignorence towards the MMO market in general. Now that does not mean they are actually ignorent and that they don't have a plan, but as it stands there is plenty of reason for people to be worried.

Rape me while I sleep?? What on earth are you on and what are you talking about??
SW-TOR will be an epic fail, it is already an accepted fact.
Move on.
Make us care MORE about our faction & world pvp!

And give the guy a break i think the rape comment was a analogy for the sleepless nights we will have after the hype has gone and our 40 quid.
