Is it just me....

Or are recent MMOs (Past year or so) being released with no content at all?

Sure, you don't have bugs (AoC and WAR releases come to mind) but having no content and nothing for players to do is just as bad... AoC and WAR both had absolutely enourmous amounts of content but were riddled with bugs at release.

Now I'm seeing games such as Global Agenda, APB, Mortal online and others all released relatively bug free but they just don't have anything worthwhile to do... Literally no "end game", It just seems like its the same thing over and over and over... No structure at all.

We gain one thing (no glaring issues in releases) but lose another (content) I guess...

You know what's really sad?  The fact that some mmos have come out that would lead someone to make a post saying AoC and War had "enormous amounts of content".  I guess that does say something about some recent mmos.

    Heh...whew...

Haven't tried out Global Agenda or APB so really can't comment on them.  Mortal Online was awful to a rather comical degree.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Compared to the more recent MMOs I'd say that games like LoTRO, AoC, WAR all had jaw dropping amounts of content.

The definition of an MMO isn't 100% solid but I'd go as far as to not even call these more recent games MMOs..

Seriously? Instanced based games with a maximum of 10 different zones each so small you can see from one side to the other?

That isn't an MMO at all... When you leave out MAJOR aspects of an "MMO" such as crafting, guild wars, sieges, etc it just turns into a generic "kill this over and over" game.

I feel some games gotten the tag MMO just so they can justify charging a monthly fee or somme other fee to play the game.

    It's just greed.
