I played it and it was utter crap, not even an MMO with only 100 people per shard. Frigging GTA: SA MTA and MP have more people than that. Also the driving felt really bad, the graphics were poor, poorly optimized and the missions were just your usual boring grind. The combat also felt really bad.
as stated the game is very repetitive. this isn't a problem when the gameplay is fun.
a stickied forum post on the apb forums is "my biggest problem with apb" and the subject is why the game is a shooter, but hitboxes lack headshot/limb damage. Counter Strike had this over 10 years ago(probably more i didn't start until 1.3). gameplay in games has regressed.. sadface

it also has very small multi player matches. so they basically want you to pay for a crappy shooter monthly... with a cash shop as well
The game is addictive, fun to pickup and just play (solo or with a group of close friends). With that said the next thing is both a positive and negative to the game. There are a limited number of zones in the game, but with that said each zone feels more then large enough and the zones are detailed. Detailed to such a point that they feel like a living breathing city.
Whats crazy is that alot of people are trying to compare APB to other more old school mmorpgs. Games like EQ2, WoW, ect. when thats not really fair. APB isn't about grinding quests to gain the next level, to reach some magical endgame. APB is about jumping into a fps game and having fun without all the hassle and bagage that goes along with most MMORPGs.
There's no epic endgame bosses, no npc grinding, no standing around waiting for a group.
APB's quest system (if thats what you want to call it) is a work of art when it comes to putting stuff togeather and taking two groups and pitting them each ageanst each other. You could be given a simple mission to go break into three banks and before you know it, it could turn into a battle of 20 v 20 to defend a location. Alot of people talk about lack of varity in the missions, but when you look at it how many types of missions are there really in any type of MMO game. All quests can be broken down into 4 or 5 catagories and APB has a quest type for each one. But even then APB takes it a step more and adds a player opponent(s) into the mix (something that NO npc can ever replace as far as randomness goes).
If you don't enjoy action, first person shooters, and mayham then APB is by no means for you.
And to top it off you could in essence play the game for free by designing clothing, outfits, car design schemes and selling them for RTC on the market. You can then use that RTC to buy game time with and could in essence play the game for free. (It costs nothing other then the cost of the box to get into the community type zone where you can forever sit in there and design clothing, ect.)
I will be the first to say APB is not going to be a game where you go in and drop 5-8 hours every day of the week playing it. But then it was never designed to be that type of a game.
So what do you do in APB? You design stuff and you shoot people. And if your good at shooting people then you can make a name for yourself, and you can also enjoy the insane voice chat system that hasn't really been done before in a MMO of this type.

You guys should see what people are doing in the Social district since most of there 5 hours ran out so there stuck in Social, People are talking and hacing fun which is what an online game should be doing and people are doing wacky stuff inventing little games making the congo line etc lol. I like this game pretty good, and as stated in other threads, it's one of the better betas I have seen. Also it didn't seem that much trouble when they "launched" the demo. Only that I had to start APB.exe and not the launcher(ironiclly?).
And so far I had a blast in the game. And can't wait to unlock more stuff! And in later game, be like the ones I've seen on youtube from closed beta, really customized. Everyone will have their own style, no questions.
But what I really wanna know is what content they are thinking of adding to the game, and should have been working on already! To please the paying customers that I know I'll be for the next couple of months.. But yeah, I also wanna be pleased. And when I mean content, I don't mean cloths and accessories. I mean for gameplay.
But as you can see, from beta/demo and 1 year will have loads to say for a MMO these days. If the game still lacks stuff after 1 year, people leave for the next big thing. And only some fanboys stay.
Inovative? not really... well maybe with how you can customize yor character and car.
It is kinda Fun, but not worth the sub/time unit fee for action districts.
The game should be like Guild Wars just with a Cosmetic Fluff item mail.
Buy the game, new districts and any cosmetic fluff with real money, but otherwise free to play.

Facts are this is a good game with a better foundation to build on than any other game I have played coming out of beta. My mind boggles at the thought of how they can expand this game theres so many directions it can go. This game is how I wanted city of heroes and villians to be.
The only negative point that I can fall upon and I agree with reasonable people about is that for a traditional MMORPG it does lack some immersion.

The only thing good about APB is the charcter creator, the rest is just so repetative and the game is full of hacks and aimbots all ready. Even STO is not as shallow of game as this on is and STO is pretty shallow.
I was in the beta test for this game and the balance between Enforcers and Criminals just didn't feel right to me. As an Enforcer favorer, there wasn't a whole lot to do in comparison to Criminals. Enforcers needed more gameplay options. Enforcers gained slower in comparison to Criminals. The decal design system is pretty cool. I also like their art style. I'm not sure if they improved any of that stuff since then but to be honest, that game just didn't settle for me.
I agree with the others, the concept of the game is mostly a counterstrike grind with a social district. The most fun I probably had was being a pain in the ass to Criminals I was not dispatched to. So, if someone else was on a Criminal, I would go help out my Enforcer buddy without being dispatched and cause the Criminal problems. I loved it when they called me nasty names - especially over the mic.
Got myself a key to the city thing (aka open beta access, so to speak - google will find you sources of these keys rather quickly, without having to pre-order anything), so I'm anxiously waiting for the 7 gigs to download to give this title a shot.
After that, I'll be in a position to have an opinion about it, unlike some people who just assume something and don't actually try it.

I preordered APB. I've been looking for a new game to add to my rotation before I go to Basic at the end of August. I enjoy the game and it's worth the money to me; it also runs better than the GTA4 multiplayer for me.

ive been in the apb beta since alpha testing ......and let me tell u what ive noticed in my time there.
1. the game get old pretty fast ....the game doesnt offer enough to keep ur attention. they focused to much on customization .....and forgot about gameplay.
2. not much depth in missions. play the game for a week i will have done the same missions only about a million times.
3. lack of good hitbox's ......its not that hard to add this to the game ....and in beta we all spammed the devs about it, didnt listen to us tho.
4. weapon mods ruined the game in beta. they fixed it so that clans in 1st place dont get all lvl 3 mods (somewhat) but weapon mods still give ppl way to much of a unfair advantage.
5. it just lacks enough content. i played it alot during the 1st and 2nd alpha / beta phases (came in 1st place in weekly rewards in a few of catagories). but the amount of content they are trying to push ....is like selling a spoon full of crack laced sugar .....to a columbian crack lord. it just doesnt have enough to keep u going back ......(and just wait till launch ....when select clans power lvl themselfs to #1 on the boards and reap in all the rewards ( *cough* b for back up *cough*) .......
6. you guys should have seen the server populations over the last month of beta .....begining of the month .......5000 keys added to the beta .......lots of ppl on...............the last 2-3 weeks population #'s at peek times were maybe 200......the cb forums were filled with ppl posting about how the devs were doing everything wrong, and the famous "im done with this beta" posts
Long story short ........imo RTW dropped the ball on this game. it coulda been polished alot better. altho i did have fun for a time in the beta it just not enough for me to dish out the cash for it ....and then pay monthly fees >.< i give it 6 months and this game will b completely F2P. i feel bad for those wasting the cash buying it at released or preorderd.

The question you have to ask yourself is what APB offers what AAA+ multiplayer shooters don't. It is customization all other features...I doubt personally that majority will see them as on the same level as good FPS games.

Ok I do want to clear one thing up tho.
Unlike FPS servers that are normally paid for by clans that admin them, APB servers are not.
So they probably do need to sub or time fees to pay for these servers plus to work new content... but even knowing this I still can't validate it.
APB may be worth for like 30€ one time fee but no way 50€ + sub fees.
Also, like you said you have no life and if you play APB 24/7 I doubt you are playing it for very long...
imo GTA IV multiplayer is much more enjoyable than APB, and I got it for 7€..

APB is fun, I will buy it and enjoy it, until my free time runs out.
The game is far too shallow to warrant paying a subscription for it and the social districts are just pointless e-peen waving areas.
