A buffbot is a character on a second account who travels with you to keep beneficial spells on the character you're actually playing.  For instance, I'm trying to level my level 25 infiltrator on one account and I log on my level 50 Cleric on another account so that the cleric can put all the high level beneficial spells (buffs, shields, etc.) on the level 25 character so he can (i) fight higher level mobs for more experience, (ii) have less down time between fights, and (iii) get emergency heals and/or resurrections if he dies).  The two are not grouped so the lower level character gets all the experience.

The buffbot is always a class that can heal and "buff," but not always used with lower level characters.  It can save a space in an equal level group for another damage dealer or the buffbot can be grouped with others but not actively played as the player running the buffbot is also running another character.  The buffbot is set to follow the group and needs little attention.

From wat I have gathered so far, peeps require TWO DAoC accounts to have a buff-bot...

How come the servers are even allowing two accounts if this kind of cheating is goin on?

Dont think you can really call it cheating if the person is actually playing two accounts at once and is not doing anything outside of the realm of the game.  Buffs are part of the game and if didnt have a buff bot,  all he would have to do is get buffs from a druid that is playing.  Dont really seem to see the difference and dont see how you would call it cheating.

Having two accounts, or 3 or 4, is not against game policy as long as you don't cross-realm.  If you get caught cross-realming, both accounts will be banned.

Cross-realming is when you have characters in more than one realm on a (regular) server.  It can only be done if you have at least two accounts.

So, if I have two accounts and play on the Igraine server as long as my characters on both accounts are in the same realm (Albion, Hibernia, or Midgard), that's ok.  If both accounts play on the Igraine server, but characters on one account are in Albion and characters of my other account are in Hibernia, that's against the EULA (End-User License Agreement) and I could get banned for it.

    Mabey ur right, I'll reiterate...
but why then are peeps allowed to have two accounts? O, I know, so that they get more money from us...

But doesn't this make the peeps who play two accounts have an unfair advantage over those with just the one...? ::::21::

how can they really stop you from having two accounts?  I know you can duel log daoc but it would lag you to much to rvr with.  I think most peeps who have a buff bot out in rvr are using it on another pc.  So how could they possibly stop anyone from having two accounts,  and from there stand point why would you?

I heard this but not really sure on it,  but wow is suppose to seperate buffs among different classes.  So I guess no one class would have all the buffs to make a buff bot.  Sounds like a great idea.

that is a great idea for WOW.
if daoc does have a weakness, it's the ridiculous amounts of buff bots out there.

i think buff bots are ridiculous.
