i don't think we will see any meaningfull character development in a short cinematic trailer....If someone could develop a character in 40 sec and tell a meaningfull story I might not change the channel everytime they go to commercial....i might want to find out what became of the Brawny towel man and his quest to clean counter tops and baby puke.

Yeah....people want to play a game which means action. Few care about character development aside from leveling and gear progression and having the best of everything.
They want to make it cool and jedi interesting, with saber fights and super hadouken street fighter/dragon ball Z jedi powers.
Welcome to the fast-food / console gamer era, instant gratification; none of this work on your character and make it meaningful...besides people can ignore your story/background if they want so why bother...everyone is playing the same story, thou this does have some choices at least unlike other games where everyone is the hero, doing the exact same "story"
If you want true character progression with story, play a pen and paper RPG with friends, your only limit is imagination.

If years ago they would have made a CGI trailer on the fight between Luke and Vader in front of Sidious, it wouldn't have played out any differant. What was that crud supposed to be? Looked nice but has jack to do with the game. Always a bad sign in my book when they try to hype a game with an over glorified cinematic trailer. Generally means the game play isn't exciting enough to show so they have to dress it up. So now... I get to quit checking in on the game till some actual game play is shown.
Wish companies would quit doing this kind of marketing. Turns more off of a game than it turns on to a game. Turns real gamers off of a game and those it does get interested a lot of those lose interest when they find out that the game isn't anything remotely close to the cinematic trailer lol. Bad marketing lol.

It is rather silly people are complaining about the trailer LEAKING. The gameplay stuff from Bioware is supposed to be in a few hours, which is when they are supposed to release the trailer. Bioware had no one working on the trailer. It was done enteirly by Blur Studios, which also did the first one.
If there is anything to complain about, people will complain about it.
Its not gameplay footage, but with 9 months + to release we have seen a fair bit of gameplay already. They actually improved on decieved.
The CGI department is already making a name for its self, up there with Blizzards (who for me make the best ingame CGIs of all) lets hope the game can go on to similar polished production values and catch the intensity of star wars so perfectly.
