Why must this IP being trampled on? First Cryptic, now this?

I wonder if in an alternate reality, Star Trek MMOs are as big as WoW.

    ...

I need to go watch Sliders and figure out how to slip out of this universe ;P

Right, because the current STO isn't casual enough for people?

And flash based? That's just horrible.

ROFL.  Well, I suppose it was inevitable that we're going to see more and more IP's raped by browser based games.  It's hardly surprising after the announcement that another browser game company is making a game based around the Battlestar Galactica IP.

i wonder how long these f2p casuals are gonna last

take a look at the new IP of Mummy Online, Spongebob Online, now this

seriously, the MMO market is scaring me

i wouldn't be surprised that in 10 years time, you would see Telletubies Online, Barnies Online, A Team Online, Iron Man MMO, etc2

    So What Now?

So much fail in one sentence right? XD

"Another mmo fail on the wall, another mmo fail on the wall, you rip off a great franchise, another mmo fail on the wall.. HORAY"

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
    "Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Face it, you could host a webpage with the title:  Star Trek Adventures, have the page just be an endless loading screen with the theme to Star Trek playing; and you would be one up on Craptic's STO for fun factor.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

Everyone being an "iron man" offcourse. How it is not the MMO market that is going the wrong way. It those wanna be browser game who decided at a certain point they should also be called an MMO. Also with flash they could actually make a proper game though and with the new version of flash being out of beta the game might even be made mobile device friendly.

I believe there is still a big market there for casual MMO's and using flash right now would be a good direction instead of using apps. As an game running on flash can be played on most mobile devices (Excluse anything starting with an I).

     Sadly, you are probably correct.

"Oh my, how horrible, someone is criticizing a MMO. Oh yeah, that is what a forum is about, looking at both sides. You rather have to be critical of anything in this genre as of late because the track record of these major studios has just been appalling." -Ozmodan

Star Trek should just stick to RTS games. Those are about the only genre that translates well. The Star Trek universe itself doesn't do well for the individual. This is why Star Wars will always be the better IP.

I disagree on that.  Neither ST nor SW were focused on the individual.

Just because Cryptic's Epic Fail Online is such a bad game, does not mean that the game could not have been done well.

Can you honestly not look at STO and come up with several ideas that would go a long way toward fixing the game.  The idea of both space and ground is nifty and fits well with the mythos.  It was just poorly implemented.

This describes STO perfectly except it isn't free to play yet....

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Essentially STO Mark II. Except cheaper.

Bringing the IP to a new low. It is the end of times indeed.

So, is it free to play or free to start?
