In other words, I'm hoping that Bioware don't just implement the ships like they did in KOTOR, but rather be more like the ships in SWG in that respect.  Available to use for real-time flight at any time.

If they were only for Story , I doubt that they would have invested so much time into making sure you can customize your Ship in so many ways , if you are the only one to see it.

Why did KOTOR allow customisation of items considering the player was the only one to see them?  I appreciate your logic, and I truely hope you are right.  But these days I've learned to not make assumptions or jump to too many conclusions about new MMO's without hearing it directly from the devs.

I do understand what you are saying but KOTOR was a single player Game and this is an MMO. :P

I guess we will find out in less then 2 hours what is what.

    To use an example:

Lets imagine a "cut scene" that plays whenever your ship takes off, which no one else sees but you (the player).

Now, this customisation of ships that Bioware have mentioned may do nothing but alter the colours shown on that "cut scene".  Therefore, rendering the customisation option pretty pointless in the first place.

But, you are right.  I guess we MAY find out more soon.  :)

Let's imagine a "cut scene" that is fully rendered by the game engine in real-time and not a canned anim....

    It could happen!!

Oh, wait, doesn't Aion do this? Oh yeah, start a new character in WoW and watch the flyover "cut scene" of the starter area, and see the other players running around...

    ------- END TRANSMISSION

Precisely, the point was that the so-called "customisation" of your ship may only be used and seen under particular circumstances (e.g. taking off and landing) perhaps were only the viewer (the player themself) can see it.

It IS possible for a company to be "cheap" like that.  I only hope that Bioware isn't going to be.

I pretty much expect ME2 ship customization or whatever = instanced home, nothing more

    but we'll see

and instanced PvP ....well I hope they're just kidding or hiding the fact that theres world PvP..

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

Yeah they were just joking. They came to E3 and decided to lie to the playerbase so that no one would know that there is really open world PvP.
