Another impression of APB (positive)

I've just about used up my 5 hours of Action District time and I have to say I find myself wanting to play more. There's an appeal to the game that is it's simplicity. Having said that however there are things that leave some to be desired. Namely the vehicle handling and the way that player made decals look in the actual world as opposed to the editor.

In regards to the vehicle controls I had pondered if it was due to the fact that I was using a low end car and not something I'd need to unlock later on that had better handling, acceleration etc. If that isn't the case then that's unfortunate but I don't see it being a difficult thing for them to fix up.

The other aspects of the game were fun for me, facing off versus others while feeling a sense of comraderie working together with a group of strangers I'd never met before. Sure not everyone is cool but I have to say about 85% of the people I grouped with were alright and I haven't encountered very few (if any) "PWNkids" or similar unsavory community. Most people seem to be at least fairly mature.

The combat is simple but gives me a sense of satisfaction when working well with a team and defeating the other team in order to complete my objective. The various clothing, customization, emotes, weapons and other unlocks keep me wanting more. What I'm most looking forward to however is the community as it develops after release. Various clans wearing their trademark colors / style: Yakuza, other mafia's, SWAT teams, Gangbangers etc facing off in 20 vs 20 (or more) megabattles with bigger weapons and custom cars. You also get to see your clan on a billboard if you do well enough, or even have a statue erected of yourself for being the top player in various categories. This is when the customization really starts making the game cool because you'll actually feel like a part of a team.

It's hard to really take in the full extent of the game in an open beta when an established community is one of the things that make the game very cool.

Just my impression thus far.

There is something about car handling in the official forums.

Apparently cars are very latency sensative..  during lag spikes cars did feel sluggish and slow to respond,  but when I had no lag and high fps I seemed to be able to control those fast sports cars quite easily, given a bit pf practise.

Looking at the stats of the cars yet unlocked I think they wil improve, and I've no doubt the live version will also be optimised.

Glad you had a good time it, as you say.. simple, additctive.  Yes, it has some problems which are frustrating but the experiences more than makes up for it.
