Oh don't worry when they include the Eldar they will be on the side of "Order" because they are the effing space elves who are all wise, benevolent, and want to help the fledgling Imperium of man to form a ever lasting...yadda, yadda, yadda, give me ur money every month!!

ehhh are we thinking of the same Eldar?
They'd be Order because the Orks and Chaos are MORE of a threat than the Imperium of man
Wise? yes but to the point of being Pious beyond all reason
Benevolent? HA! More like Manipulative
Fledging Imperium of Man blah blah blah? ehhh You're thinking of HIGH ELVES from Warhammer Fantasy NOT the Eldar from 40k...
The Eldar view the Imperium as a means to an end as well as a bit of a burden on the universe with their expansions

Obviously you have no sense of sarcasm.
1.) Eldar would never be openly accepted by the Imperium because the first thing they'd do would be to exterminate the xeno scum on sight. Sure there have been brief instances of small scale cooperation by both groups but that is extremely rare and short lasting.
2.) Eldar would be just as likely to use humanity as cannon fodder against Chaos in order to accomplish their own goals behind the scenes without getting their hands dirty.
3.) Orkz would never have the attention span to form any alliance with any other race. Hell they can barely form alliances amongst themselves without shooting each other in the face.
4.) Chaos Space Marines and cultist would rather use Orkz for target practice. Sure there might be a some plot to steer an Ork "Waaaagh" toward an Imperial force in a certain sector but Chaos Space Marines and their cultist underlings would never openly join forces with Orkz.
This entire "order" vs "destruction" crap is nothing but a shallow attempt to homogenize and overly simplify an IP were every race is killing each other and has more then enough reasons to kill each other on sight. All of this is being done so that they can appeal to the drooling masses of retards who don't have a effing clue about 40K IP let alone have ever picked up a and read a book.

"...Unfortunately with people like yourself blindly throwing their money at companies that ask for it but dont really need it..."
Based on this single statement, you invalidate your own argument on the basis that you have no CLUE what you're talking about.
Do some research on the cost of the upkeep of an MMORPG...
You have hardware costs, software licensing, data center space leasing (or building/maintaining your own all over the world), man hours for the Software house, the Hardware house, the Marketing people, and everything and everyone in-between.
If you think for one moment that a subscription fee isn't "really needed" when charged for an MMORPG, you are completely and totally incorrect.
You either have an Item Mall that all the rich kids and scammers pump hundreds into each month, and the regular players like me might drop $15 or $20 a month into (revenue for the producers/publishers) or you have a monthly subscription fee (revenue for the producers/publishers) at around $15 a month.
But all of this crap aside? Yea, DMO looks AMAZING!!! I CAN'T WAIT!
And FYI, I'd pay $20 a month for it. MMOs are my hobby. And it's a very, very cheap one.
You are correct. I am indeed clueless when it comes to knowing what costs are involved with mmos. In fact I doubt there is a single forum member that has any real idea either. I have never seen anyone quote any solid figures regarding how much it really costs to keep an mmo running with regular updates and I doubt I ever will. The fact that you are completely incapable of quoting any figures yourself indicates very clearly that you also have zero knowledge on the subject. Do some research eh? What you mean like the research you did? Oh yeah thats right you didnt do any. Your post contains ZERO information.
So yeah I'm clueless.........but so are you. So is everyone else. Sorry but you fail in your attempt to seem superior. You're a person who buys and plays games just like me. Stop trying to pretend you're something more.
Hardware costs, software licensing, man hours for the software & hardware house, marketing costs and everything else. Yes well done you have managed to list some of the things that cost money in the making and upkeep of ALL games including single player games. Its a shame you are unable to show why mmos need massive amounts of extra money each month when other games dont. All you are able to do is simply say that they do. Yeah great. Thats...ermm.....useful. I'm sure the staff at ArenaNet could give you some answers as to why monthly fees arent needed
Im completly sold for this game, it would only get better if there were different playable SM chapters and maybe necrons, but ofcuz I can always wait for an expac for those
The thing I love the most is that 100% sure this will be P2P, so its like the best "IN YOUR FACE" I can ever imagine for the F2P crowd.
Sure kids, have fun with your 5 year old asian generic shits filled with terrible, terrible grind and gamekilling cash shops... I'll pay for this
You are talking like the people in support of f2p don't already spend money to sub on some games. If they didn't this topic wouldn't mean anything to them so they wouldn't have an opinion anyway......
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Yeah I found GamerAeons inability to pick up on blatantly obvious sarcasm kind of amusing too.
I am beginning to share your concerns for this game as well and I totally agree with your posts in this thead. I am still looking forward to it however, as I have a certain amount of faith in THQ but if they really do go down the "good faction vs evil faction" route then I suspect my interest in the game will be short lived. I hated that crap in Wankhammer Online as it made no sense and it will make even less sense in the Warhammer 40k mmo. On top of that I wasnt really too impressed with the bright and colourful cartoony graphics in the video. I hope I'm wrong but I sense yet another trashing of the Warhammer IP. Oh well I will just stick to Dawn of War 2 if it flops.
I have posted this in other threads also but Im going to put it here also.
The only thing that will work for this game is that we all start out as MARINES. reason for this is there is enough lore and cool concepts in youst the main Marine chapters, like the space wolfs, ultramarines, Blood Angels etc to bring the warhammer 40k lore to life
Xenos should only be in the game to die horribly at the hands of THE GOD EMPERORS loyal servants the space marines, and succumb under the hails of BOLTER FIRE!
SPACE MARINES NEED TO BE RACIST SUPER SOLDIERS WHO LIKE NOTHING MORE THEN TO PUT A CHAINSWORD THRU THE NEREAST HERATIC!
All golory to the GOD EMPEROR AND HIS ANGELS OF DEATH!
But a 40k game cant be all about PvE now can it, and I have thought on this and this is my sulotion to that problem. Add in the ability to become corrupted and fall to one of the CHAOS GODS. This opens up 2 things, first you have to leave for the EYE of TERROR or worlds that are close to it or under the sway of CHAOS. The Potential of cunquering worlds in the name of Khorn, Nurgle etc could bring in a hole new type of game element. Second it makes the PvP experince very diverse as you can fight both chapters still loyal to the Emperor and other Fallen chapters for space and power among the stars. What it also dose is hand back the power and control to the player base. If 2 traitor legions(player guilds) dont want to fight they can negotiate a peace treaty for example.
But what happens to the Chapters still Loyal to the emperor, I say 2 things, first they can comit to a CRUSADE (very lore correct) and go out into hostile space to kill heratics and traitor marines. Or they can go on a cleansing (pve raid) killing NPC Xenos, Orcs, Eldar, tau and tyranieds etc etc. this ,last option should also be Open to the traitor chapters as they can claim things in the name of thier CHAOS GOD.
So we have multiple ways that pvp can happen and we have mutliple ways that pve can happen. We have space/planets that can be claimed for rescourses and gear etc. And we stay true to the LORE that Warhammer is harsh world....
Player guilds would be so called successor chapters of the main chapters aka like the Bloods swords is a successor chapter to the Blood Angels. A new starting charecter only Picks the mother Chapter, Space WOlfs, Blood angels, Dark angels etc and then he joins one of there successor chapters that other players have designed(keeping true to the lore OFC) This chapter can then become corrupted if they whish, and the player can either follow his guildmates into damnation and constant PvP and danger or he can quit and once again become a member of the mother chapter. Finding another loyal successor chapter if the dangours of Unkowns space and constant PvP isent to his liking.
SO we have both full on PVP for the players who want it where you can claim terratories, space and planets and fight against others. And a nice PvE setting where people can carebare and just hang out. And a semi PvP situation where you can as a loyal chapter head out into the wast unknown parts of space on a Crusade against chaos. If you do this Chaos chapters can OFCs hit your base of operation back as you while you are on your crusade play by the same rules they do. But you can at any given time give up your crusade and head back to Emperor controled space.
I think this would work best In a Warhammer 40k setting, I dont see anything come close to the EPICness this could bring to the table. WHo the hell wants to play an ORC anyways?????
THQ is spending a small fortune making this with Vigil games the longer in development the MORE it costs in the long run
Some people like Orks
As some like the Tau and Eldar <---Me
Yes but I dont think it will be a game breaker if we dont have orcs, TAU, Necrons, Tyranides, sisters of battle or IPG as playaball Races.
Also as my scenario cant have female charecters in it, Space marines and Chaos space marines arnt girls lol and we never ever want to see that in an warhammer 40k MMO.
I sugest adding Eldar and Dark elder to the mix, they OfC fight everyone and everything and have safe zones on there craftworlds and in the webbwayes. THE ARE free groups not siding with anyone, they are just there to bring even more WAR to the mix.... But we get the option to field female toons.....

It seems youre the one with no clue what theyre talking about. Arenanet has already proven they dont need a sub with both GW1 and the upcoming GW2, neither has a sub, and GW1's "cash shop" doesnt impact the game or give anyone any sort of advantages, it simply adds some optional content or saves you time.
you get what you pay
that is, you dont pay a monthly fee, you get a game server that can be run in a home desktop, which doesnt provide a real massive experience nor persistent world, just extremly instanced rooms of few vs few battles, which are created when you join and dissapear when you finish.
dunno you, but I dont want WAR40k to be anything like that. no, and a million times no...
thats what a monthly fee gets you, a MMO, not a room based lobby
Wow... Its blatantly obvious youve either:
a) never played anything but sub game game
b) simply couldnt comprehend what was going on in the game if you did try it
c) have failed to read a single article/announcement about Guild Wars 2, or just couldnt comprehend anything you were reading
Please when you try to troll and make ridiculous arguments against something other than what you like, at least have the slightest clue what youre talking about.

No never lol
However the Inquisition has their own order of basically battle nuns the Sisters of Battle
While not AS Uber as their Male counterparts in the SM chapters they can certainly open up a can o whoop @$$
Just so you know Orks are in the game already...with IG and SM and CHAOS Those 4 are OBVIOUS from the Trailer
What's unknown is who else is joining the party
With SM trapsing about you have CHAOS hot on their heels and with IG and SM marching around the Orks are always in the Wild watching the wicked chaos boys.
Now that said we need to look at the fluff for a moment. According to the fluff depending on WHERE this system IS and if IG has a BIG outpost on one of the worlds we could possible have
Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar
One can also assume that the Inquisition MIGHT show up since CHAOS is running all over the place and IG and SM are constantly in battle with them fighting against them. Who knows if the IG forces or the SM troops could turn Chaotic and become Heretics.
Lest we forget the great saying from the Grey Knights in DoW "Suffer not the Wych to Live!"
Let me explain my assumptions
The fluff consistently throws tales out about Moons being in possession of the Tau and that they too have had Several run ins with CHAOS before seeing them as a race of madmen and unnatural creatures that would NEVER follow the Greater Good so they must be dealt with and exterminated. The Tau have done this on a couple of occassions.
Eldar tend to show up when CHAOS starts getting too big for their britches or when the Imperium invade their personal space. So if one of these planets is snowy it's highly likely the Eldar would show up too to keep CHAOS from turning MORE of their dying ways from corrupting to the Dark Eldar who in their craziness LOVE Human Slaves they're the best to them because when they just can't do anything anymore physically they just take their soul and use it however they wish.
With a possible Imperium Colony on one of the worlds the Dark Eldar would be like Moths to the flame, a big chance at enslaving some of the populace and then vanishing from whence they came.
Dark Eldar and Orks would get along probably because BOTH their societies revolve around who's the biggest badass.
Orks the biggest nastiest Ork boy becomes Da Warboss
Dark Eldar the meanest cruelest most blood thirsty fighter becomes their leader
Dark Eldar also admire the brutality of CHAOS but don't agree with their fanatical faith.
So could those 4 be in a tenuous alliance with one another? Eh sure it's a stretch but could be done.
Who's to say CHAOS haven't Swayed yet another Warboss into a big WAAAGGGHH!! vs Imperium Forces
CHAOS and Eldar do this a good bit.
But I digress Female Space Marines are essentially the Sisters of Battle.
Did look up something intriguing though as there does seem to be a few Females in the IG.
if 2 factions is a nonsense, 3 factions is equally nonsensical
with at least 7 armies (human, chaos, ork, eldar, taus, necrons, tyranids), in order to split it in 3 sides, you are bound to group some factions together, and as most people have pointed, no one has any reason to work along with anyone...
if you make 3 factions playable, you will have all the inmature imbeciles crying a thousand rivers like the god damn brats they are
"OMGOMGOMGOMG I like the (7th least popular race) if I like it that must mean everybody likes it, and if they dont include it on their 3 factions, IM SO RAGING THIS IS FAIL WAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHMBULANCE"
and obviously, a 7-sided MMO at release is just nuts, simply nuts. people asking for that are inbred 12yo babbling retards who think games are made by 3 friends working during weekends and cost a couple hundred bucks, and should be shot right on spot so the overall human IQ raised a few cents with their deaths.
Whatever they do, it wont be fully done by release, and it wont please everybody.
If its 2 factions but they add ways to control unbalances and the game remains fun and dont burn like WAR, I'll be happy to play it.
"You're going to have quests, you're going to go out and kill stuff, you're going to group up, you're going to join larger scale battles. It's structured very much like a traditional MMO. Some of the coolest races are not here it seems but why?
Well lets see if i can justyfy such races then [including my favourate dusty Space Undead].
Tyranids - can be an evil race as a splinter fleet atracted by the Psychic emminitions from the daemons could attract them or a genestealer cult? Of course some diffaculty may be had with them teaming up with the other Evil races.
Inquisitors/WitchhuntersSisters of battle - There are heratics and Daemons!!!!!!
Tau - Could be as a expanding empire which are definatly the most Good race could be interested in this system for some secret tactical reason?
Kroot - Are mercenaries and a good race so someone could hire them.
Chaos Daemons - pretty obviouse which side they would be on and why they are there if you are familuar with the lore of W40k.
Daemonhunters - Good side and because with a Daemon incursion these guys are your best wepon to deal with an incusion.
Elves err i mean Eldar - True they are by nature unpredictable often fighting alongside good guys and then turning on them when the battle is won but this is mainly because they follow a plan based on there abilaty to see into possable futures and chose the best path [for there race]. However there is no reason the eldar seeing a grave threat to there race if say Chaos takes over this world could not ally with the Imerium of Man - at least for now
Dark Eldar - Are raiders they need slaves for Work and pleasure [not that sort of pleasure they prefer the Bondage type with lashings of whips and hooks and well the sort where the lucky ones are those who are killed during a raid] And have often been seen working alongside the bad guys in return for a lot of good qualiy slaves [such as say strong imperial guard soldiers and especially Space Marines as such livestock last a lot longer and can take the more brutal pleasures].
Necrons - My favourate race ever as they are the most EVIL race arround Tyranids kill you for food. Daemons because its instinctive and Mortals are just above insects in there perception. Chaos Mortals because killing in there gods name brings favour and maybee immortality. Ork because its fun. Dark Eldar for pleasure and to stave off slaneeshe from eating there souls, Necrons Do it because they HATE all life. As for a reason to be there and fight alongside evil races. For being there there could be a Tomb complex nearby and all the action is perceived as a possable threat. As for fighting alongside other races Well i am REALLY stretching the lore here. What if the Deceiver [a Necron God] was nearby! this could be one of his complex plans.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

As I have said before letting Players play xenos and construct some half ased reason why these Xenos should band together on 2 sides with Space marines along side Eldar and Tau vs ORCs, CHaos and lets say Dark Eldar Will BE AN EPIC FAIL....
In wharhammer the LORE is half the story and if you start making gamebreaking decisions for the sake of make a 2 side fraction conflict this game will end up as WAR a total MASSIVE FAIL....
What we need is only SPACE MARINES and maybe ELDAR AND DARK ELDAR( only for the reason that we can have female toons). AND THEY ARE ALL ATT WAR WITH ONE ANOTHER. As and added TWIST your SPACE MARINE SUCCESSOR CHAPTER CAN BECOME CORUPTED AND YOU CAN FALL TO THE CHAOS GODS.
READ MY ABOVE POST FOR THE DETAILS..... NO FRACTION WARFARE WE NEED A FREE FOR ALL WORLD MUSH MORE LIKE HOW EvE IS SET UP.....
To the Poster above this one I hate to burst your bubble but the Kroot are perma allies of the Tau Empire the two share a symbiotic relationship. While YES a Firewarrior vs an SM up close is instagibdeath for the the Firewarrior a Kroot Warrior could easily go toe to toe with an SM.
There's a few others aside from the Kroot that are allies ONLY of the Tau as the rest of the universe aren't as accepting of them. Why do you think Tau are always spouting off about the Greater Good?
I've stated it before and it's worth stating a trillion times
Necrons and Tyranids only are playable on a TT situation. You take them off the Table Top and the only place they exist is an RTS. You put them in an RPG and it's literally impossible and improbable for you to play either, The Necrons are autonomous killing machines and the Tyranids are sentient Hive mind eating machines (figurative machines).
The Fluff supports that SOME of the races DO have that one class of troop that can go up against a Space Marine.
Tau are on lots of Imperium space moons I'd have to reference you to their galactic map where numerous Tau Outposts and colonies are either in or quite near imperium space.
The Eldar and Dark Eldar can be anywhere they wanna be anytime as long as a Webway gate exists on or near the planet in question. The Eldar are manipulative and if threatend they will seek to protect themselves from everybody, Their brothers/sisters the Dark Eldar are not quite as sweet according to the fluff they're about the only other race that has a Space Marine counterpart reason being because the Warriors are bred at birth they eat sleep and breath combat 100% of the time. The forces of Chaos like them though as they're intelligent and don't ignore CHAOS completely just they wish the Dark Eldar would give in to the Chaos gods though in the fluff it's stated they never wanna do that again. If there's a gate near an Imperium planet with lots of settlements and outposts on the fringe of Imperium space FULLY EXPECT the Dark Eldar to pop in steal some settlers cause a little destruction and pop right back out again.

If they are focusing on interactions with other races and off battlefield life of a character (as opposed to what Space Marine from Relic is doing) , It really begs the question why they choose MMO format for their RPG then?
The only good reason to do an MMOG is that if the massive simultanous player base can actually add something extra for the game experience, all other game aspects suffer when you do an MMOG as bandwidth and lag limits the design. Your action is sub bar to ordinary action game, as clients from around the world can be 1 second out of sync from each other, so the reason to use MMO format for your game should be pretty good.
When I think of WH40k, large scale massive epic battlefields come to mind. Planetside did it pretty good back then, and it did create an experience which justified the use of MMO format. I'm a bit worried that Dark Millennium isn't focused right and ends up being shadowed by Space Marine from Relic.

To be your fav race, you dont seem to know much about them.
Except for necron lords, necrons are just empty hulls void of any reasoning or free will, they do not hate all life or anything, they are simple automatons, absolutly subdued to the C'Tans and basically do just as commanded, harvesting souls for their masters to feast, and bringing down black fortresses...

Yes another decently hyped game taht people can complain over the next 2 years about.
WHo the hell wants to play an ORC anyways?????
lol oh I know
THQ is spending a small fortune making this with Vigil games the longer in development the MORE it costs in the long run
Some people like Orks
As some like the Tau and Eldar <---Me
Can someone tell me what is the guy at 0:44 - 0:45 in the trailer?
Female Space...Marines....ehhhmmm
They've got a TOUGH road ahead of them in order to stick somewhat to the lore and to keep it fun and fair.
One scary thought though is that they are already saying 2 factions: Order and Destruction... Oh shi- WAR all over again.
Props for the FPS-esque style. I want it to be good, but after 11 years of playing MMO's it's hard to be glossy eyed.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
if 2 factions is a nonsense, 3 factions is equally nonsensical
with at least 7 armies (human, chaos, ork, eldar, taus, necrons, tyranids), in order to split it in 3 sides, you are bound to group some factions together, and as most people have pointed, no one has any reason to work along with anyone...
if you make 3 factions playable, you will have all the inmature imbeciles crying a thousand rivers like the god damn brats they are
"OMGOMGOMGOMG I like the (7th least popular race) if I like it that must mean everybody likes it, and if they dont include it on their 3 factions, IM SO RAGING THIS IS FAIL WAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHMBULANCE"
and obviously, a 7-sided MMO at release is just nuts, simply nuts. people asking for that are inbred 12yo babbling retards who think games are made by 3 friends working during weekends and cost a couple hundred bucks, and should be shot right on spot so the overall human IQ raised a few cents with their deaths.
I think the Dawn of War series does an amazing job with tactical, squad-based stuff, [Relic's console-based action game] Space Marine is an awesome, visceral action adventure like one dude kicking ass. For us it's really more of an RPG. You're living the life of this dude not for the life of a console adventure but for hopefully months and maybe even years. What do these guys do off the battlefield? What are their interactions like with other races and in various worlds? It really gives you a unique perspective because it's a hero in that universe, not just a unit."

Dont know if thats good news or not.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
"Enslave/convert/assimilate or kill them all" or just "Kill them all" are the only two options. It's not a great question. :P
