New Race in Trailer!? ...or just a storyline char!?

Oh man that looks like the description of the Gria race from Ivalice...can't see any wings or tail though...hmmm!  I do believe I brought this up when I first noticed it in the FFXIV Mural last year...was I right!?  muhahahaha

From the new Official Trailer at 1:34!

More info on the Gria:

The Gria (???, Guria) are a dragon-like race from Ivalice, first introduced in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Since they are only seen in Jylland, it can be assumed they are native to this region.

The Gria are a small-bodied draconic race, complete with dragon wings, tail, and horns. The Gria are more proficient in physical attacks rather than magick in combat. Their ability to fly seems to allow them to ignore the Jump stat, giving them an advantage in areas with high terrain, and allowing them to easily get behind units, as they can simply fly over them rather than try to walk around them. And unlike units equipped with Faerie Shoes, which use teleportation to ignore the Jump stat in a similar fashion, Gria are immune to falling damage; If they are knocked off a high cliff, the Gria will use their wings to slow the descent.

It is never made clear if the Gria are entirely female, or if they have male members. The game only features female members, so only assumptions can be made. This is not unusual if they have both genders, as all of the playable Humes, save for a few important characters, are male. Note that the Gria are not to be mistaken with the Aegyl.

Wow, I would never have noticed that.

If this is true, I wonder what the purpose is to keep the new race a secret.

They were spotted in the first official drawing as well, they already said there are no new playable races. They're are sure to be more races then there was in XI to populate the areas. Things such as quiqirn, etc.

That would be amazing if it is a new race, but perhaps it is a human with headgear?

That's what it looks like to me.  Notice the lack of any draconic features?  Looks like a Hyur caster with a horns based headgear.

ROFL...yeah horns growing out of his head, and it looks like headgear...heh   Where is this headgear you're seeing and besides there are other images from other forums of this same boy with a side/back shot and you can clearly see the horn is coming out of his head.

Nothing is for sure, but they did say that there will be NO new races.  Then again, a lot of games say it'll have/won't have features.  When the game comes out we'll know for sure.  Either it be final release or beta's.

Everyone has opinions, but does that make them the universal truth??? NO!

SE never said difinitively yet that there wouldn't be any more races, just that we'd have to wait any see.

Here is that same boy where you can see the back of his head and the bottom of the horn.  Clearly coming out of his head!

It's an obvious NPC story character/race - similar to Prishe. If you notice everytime he is shown it's in a CS where it's showing him as an 'important' character(I.E. people 'protecting/surrounding' him, etc). There is no reason to speculate it as a playable race - Final Fantasy has tons of non playable races - this is just another addition to that pool.
