So new patch out....

And apparently it has (yet again) broken more than it's fixed. Lots of issues in the support forums.

Does anybody else believe yet that the testing process that SV uses really isn't a good idea? What are your experiences with the patch? I know we have a few folks here who never have any problems, but judging from the rumblings on my Steam friends (MO players) and the support forums.... it's not looking good.

Haven't found much broken yet other than vendor values tbh, servers just went into offline mode though, keep you posted if I find anything overly glaring (there's still a lot to be fixed yet though of course, but the patch seems so far to be a step in the right direction, from my experience at least).

Dude... but on topic, the vendor values are a bit messy. Gone down for a hotfix now.

I am amazed they still have an offline mode enabled in an MMO.

It's ridiculous and only is there to seem like the game is up when it's not.

The issue with people swinging their weapon s and getting them "stuck" out in swing mode is new.  I am just not sure that in house testing is the best. . They redid the loot system and tested it but did they have 50-60 people running around trying out combat after they made changes?  nope.

They need a test server and they need to test things for several days before releaseing to public.

I know they can't do this.  I don't know why people are suprised that the development cycles and implementation have not changed.  Some people expected something different after release.  They are still the same small group of guys.

I was often critical of the way they did things but I fully expected it to be the same after release.  so now I am fine with the game but others are freaking out.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

I'm not fully understanding this "off line mode". Would somebody please explain that?

Basically if the server is down, people enter the gameworld anyway -- it's just devoid of any other players. It's a local copy of the gameworld, and it's "offline".

Having it in there only puts up the illusion of the server being up, nothing more.

In PvP, looting items from dead noobs and that item not showing up in your inventory is really pissing me off, and when it does show up says item not available, arggggg. riding my horse and getting stuck on a rock, no GM around so the only way to get out is to suicide or wait for the server to crash witch seems to happen ever 5 minutes now. Reading books take 24 hours (Are you serious!!!!!!WTF) when the server launched the books where cheep and all the collectors edition buyers got to start a bit early therefor purchasing the books for realy cheap, no more then 30 minutes after the rest of the subscribers logged in they shutdown the server and increased the cost of the books 500%...talk about an unfair advantage, as of now there is no way I will be resubbing my account, game has far too many issues

Yeah, the server is up for hours in a row now. Saying it's up for only 5 min at a time is a lie or the one saying that haven't played at all the last days.

In all MMO's I have played in at release there have been stuck issues, including WoW. Just bug report it and it will be fixed eventually.

Never been on an MMO launch? sounds like it......

BTW games change, its called an MMO and I've been playing for hours somtimes till a server restarts so thats a lie not every 5 mins.

Your complaing about having to read a book? do you want everything handed to you on a silver platter? go play WoW...

BOOOHOOO you get stuck, its happens get over it....funny you say dead noobs when your nub ass get's stuck in rocks when you ride a horse.

And let me guess you arent allowed to learn from past?

Its like you have to invent the wheel from scratch on instead of using the experience. I will never understand why in MMO industry you can release half broken product and still people claim you have to live with it. In my industry if people would even hear you think about releasing unfinished product you would be already doomed ...

First of all, if you read the patch notes... they are working hard on fixing the loot issues.  That is something that is at the top of their priority list.  Maybe you didn't read them or maybe no one told you, I don't know.  If you get stuck, go to the forums and submit a bug.  Help out the developers instead of whining like a baby on this site.  Server crashes do not happen every five seconds, you're lying through your teeth on this one.  Books do not take 24 hours.  I read them before I log off and they are done when I wake up in the morning, and some only take a few hours.

As far as the collectors edition crap, who cares?  There is a skill cap and only the most expensive books are hard to save money for.  You'll get there, maybe it will take a little longer but you will eventually get to where you want.  It's like a collectors edition giving you starter items, they help you in the short term, but not the long term.  This happens in every game that releases, even single player games.  And by the way, these books were supposed to be a new innovation in skill gain.  These are meant to help you gain skill while you are not playing the game, and you're complaining about it.

It's unfortunate that you aren't going to re-sub when there really isn't a lot wrong with the game.  You have a month before you have to renew, check back in later... that's all I can suggest.

That's the thing, it's not half broken.  Some bugs?  Yes, but broken to the point of it not being playable?  Not even close.

Getting real tired if reading your 'looks like the forums are going crazy' again threads.  Do you have nothing better to do all day than to troll these forums and try to badmouth a game that has actually released in a very playable state, which is something it wasn't just before launch.

Server crashes and restarts are normal for even the best launches out there.  I can play for several hours before crashes or restarts.  My game experience is rarely interrupted for long as well, the servers come right back up.  Once these bugs are fixed, what are you going to complain about?  Jesus.

This.  I can't imagine spending hours and hours, day in and day out, just to try to slander a GAME.

I actually LIKE this game, and I don't spend this much time thinking about it, talking about it, and scouring the forums... it's not like I'm too busy, I'm the stereotypical "lifeless geek".. but OP has time to commit to this game that I can't even comprehend...

The only time I devote is free time at work.

    [Mod Edit]

All negative? Wow, must have taken some time to read all my posts!

Unfortunately, many of my posts are in the Darkfall forums as well, and now later many posts in this forum are meant to discuss PvP MMOs. There really aren't a lot of them out there, so between MO and DF, it's no surprise that's where my post count lies. That said, early on I called Mortal Online a "ray of hope" for PvP players, talked it up quite a bit in terms of what the developers were saying and how open they were about what they wanted.

It's only over time I realized that the developers have never coded a single thing IN THEIR LIVES. Not even PONG. Not even Tic Tac Toe. The culmination of their 'experience' lies in a single guy who wrote Unreal mods -- and they sucked. The CEO used to spam people for poker sites, and took his daddy's money to start a video game company because he liked Ultima Online. Now you'd wonder why, if after a year of following the game, paying for early access in the hopes that the game would be something decent, that I'm a tad disappointed. The game may be fun for you and I don't preclude that, but for many of us who PAID -- the game is atrocious, unfinished, buggy pile of garbage. And to top it all off, using unethical business practices where people will get ninja charges on their credit cards in order to make a last ditch effort to fund the game for longer than a month is stooping to the lowest of lows. But what more do you expect from a guy who spammed poker sites and took daddy's money to start his dream job of playing Ultima Online again?

This forum is open for discourse, and I don't deny you the idea that you like the game, so why should you deny me my right to dislike it? As I've said, if the game turns around -- I'll play it myself. I know that won't happen, of course. If you don't like what I post -- DON'T RESPOND. It's a discussion forum, and discussions that may not interest you, and discussions that you don't agree with are going to happen.

Yup, I went through his post history as you suggested.   He has 800+ posts on the mortal forum (and from what I can tell this is the ONLY forum he frequents), each and every one of them negative.  Instead of drawing artificial comparisons (I like MO why wouldn't I surf the forums?) , consider that his post history validates my point.

And please stop the snarky emoticons... low-effort, passive-aggressive insults are still insults.

Hmm.. I think you missed part of my post !
