What were you guys expecting the game is not out for like a year still? i will rather them release info slowly and accurately then go the WoW route and strip down an expansion before its released.
To all the people claiming the game is uninnovative. How many MMORPGs out there have any story that revolves around your character let alone allows you to alter the flow of the story. Oh yes none of them. Let alone a game that looks as smooth and polished as TOR. Lets face it people are hating it just because it looks like it has the potential to be the next big thing and its cool to hate anything the masses will enjoy.
Horribly written article in my mind. I was excited to see player ships and my first question was whether or not i could fly them. However i realized the game is still a year out and would rather not get my hopes up and get a definitive answer before jumping to conclusions. The writer of this article should think about that before he puts his hands on a keyboard ever again.
The problem is G4. They don't know a thing about MMOs and it shows. I'm waiting for the reports to come in from people who do know what to look for and what questions to ask.
Not to mention the game is still a long ways from release. If they told us every detail about the game then the next article a few months from now would be whining about anything they had to cut. Blizzard should think about keeping more silent instead of bailing on things like Path of the Titans after bragging about it for months.
NGE from scratch set in a SW themed timeline that supports the NGE classes better than SWG's timeline did.
Add a dash of WoW gameplay mechanics like "Tanks" and "Healers" and "DPS".
Oh, and bad graphics.
Bam! SW:TOR in ur face!
You had me Untill you said Tanks healers and dps like wow : ( Only because you used wow as your example shows you know little about mmos and think wow was the first to ever do tanks dps heals lol.
I've played every AAA+ MMO on the market. My first was Ultima Online. I used WoW as an example because that is "Industry Standard"
I gotta myself to the bunch whos dissapointed in battlefield PvP it really is the chickenshit way out of world PvP doesnt make sense to me that i can kill a guy in a certain area and in another hes humping my back
Dont have an opinion on a flying house alltho i like to start out from scratch and earn my way up
Graphics looks new to me but need to see more
Been waiting for this game for so long so release beta allready so we can test it out
Add me to the HUGE bunch of players who are glad that PvP will be instanced (where it belongs) away from the majority of players who actually want to enjoy the gameplay rather than be targets of PvP'ers
DEFINITION OF REALITY: Graphics ok, Sound ok, Gold drops need more work...
Add me to the HUGE bunch of players who are glad that PvP will be instanced (where it belongs) away from the majority of players who actually want to enjoy the gameplay rather than be targets of PvP'ers
That is, of course, if there is a HUGE bunch of players in the first place.
One can be letdown by the mini information we get, ever since we first heard about SWTOR. I am not to happy about it myself, but then, they are not oblieged to give us info. Especially because the audience is so difficult, as we here all know. I understand why they are careful. So we have to be patient, I guess.
As to the game itself: I am surprised some seem to expect the perfect game which totally re-invents everything. I don't know why people have such unrealistic expectations. Someone wrote he just saw the tank tanking the healer healing and he was disappointed. I mean, did you really expect them to throw EVERYTHING out of the window and make a MMO which is different in every single aspect? I think SWTOR will be new and different in more aspects than any MMORPG we have seen before. It is, as every game, not for everyone. Everyone of us has something he/she values, but even a 150 million dollar MMO can't have everything from day one. Sure, some love space combat. Some don't. Some like instanced PVP, some don't. You can't make everyone happy in every aspect, but I am sure there is something in the game for everyone who playes it with an open eye and less pre-expectations what a MMO should be like.
I hear there are some sceptical people, but if you read the following article of a gamer who actually PLAYED SWTOR, and not only judged it based on a TV show, maybe you nourish your hope again.
I don't claim to know how SWTOR will be; but I think we should not fall into overhype, over expectations nor premature doomsaying. And tbh, I see no reason for any of it. TOR will be a cool game, even if not every single wish list topic is in it right from start.
Most decisions were to be expected. That a triple A MMO does NOT have full loot open pvp a la Darkfall wasn't seriously expected, right? And people put too much into the instanced thing. As we hear, you do not notice the instance. You just walk in some area, no loadscreen, and that is something entirely different from the way we had seperated zones. So I guess we have to experience it ingame to really judge it.
Given, the G4 interviewers didn't seem to be on top of the knowledge. That woman asked "Will PVP be solo or group?" And I was facepalming. How can PVP be solo? It was a bit a waste of time to let someone make an interview to have a "pretty female face" in your show. Absurd.

The pvp should be instanced for those who don't like to pvp but not for those who do. I may understand instanced pvp for pve servers but why do you think that the pvp servers should be the same? We want pvp in the open. Whoever don't like it should move to pve servers but do not try to destroy our pvp servers.

Unfortunately, some are just so obsessed with the term "innovation" that they wouldn't know true innovation if it came up and bit them on the ass. They think that the devs are just being lazy and that the pot of gold is just waiting to be taken for those who just get off their asses to make a truely "innovative" game. Which as we all know, is complete and utter bollox.
The same individuals also don't realise the very reasons why MMO's "borrow" tried and tested elements from others in the first place. And after failing to manage their expectations, they resort to using ridiculous terms like "WoW Clone", "Wow In Space" and "Wow with Lightsabers".

Well, don't forget that they said in interviews that PVP won't just be in battlefields / war zones.
To be honest, I'd would be VERY surprised if they don't entertain the idea of consensual PVP like it was in SWG. Whereby PVP'ers can have spontaneous battles in the streets, whilst PVE'ers just happy go about solo'ing, grouping and raiding without fear of being ganked. It's probably one of the only elements of SWG that I thought was cool.

For all of you want a post about all the new facts bioware released so far at E3.
Twi'leks are playable. Maybe.
There you go thats everything.
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

For me the game still feels like a single player with multiplayer in a MMO package.
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...
