I have to say, this game's potential is way up for me.

Not sure how simply being encouraged by the direction a game is going, and trying to be positive as it develops and the news is staying good, makes one a "fanboi". I always try and have a positive outlook about  games that I'm interested in when I feel the game deserves it. Not any different than anyone else I imagine.

If JGE starts to go south for me I'll say that too though, as I always have.

ND hasn't lied or released false info as far as I can tell *like Cryptic*. Nor have they released a game that's a turd and not anything near what they advertised  *STO/AoC*. In fact they've been very straight up and honest for a development house in my opinion. Which adds to my encouragement.

Basically I'm just saying that there's no reason for hate at this point in time. All they've done is listen to their testers and changed direction when it was clear what they had wasn't working. Given how that's completely opposite from what a few other dev houses have done recently, I can't help look at ND in a positive light at this time.

Well, that really depends on how strongly you were bought into what they said they were going to do in the first years of development.  I and other people were pretty excited about what the game was going to be back then.  A guy I know played what they had at a show for half an hour back in 2008 and loved it.

The devs DO get full points for telling us before release that they changed course.  The change takes guts, and so does telling the fans.  No good deed goes unpunished, though, and of course they're being dragged through the mud for it.

Really, the worry now is that since JGE is just a combat game, can they succeed in distinguishing themselves enough from Black Prophecy  - especially as other people have pointed out, there will be no up-front cost to play BP.  I know I'll try out BP for that price, even if it's just a shooter and I may not stay long.

Maybe their marketing people will see the risk of being second to market and change the payment plan to compete - we'll find out eventually, I'm sure.
