Heh, I'd wait a week or two before swapping. Just my two coppers...

Not sure as I haven't played EQ2 yet, but PvP servers are pretty packed.

yeah, do yourself a favor, wait a couple of weeks. WoW is suffering from some "first MMO" issues. They'll work them out, but you don't want to be here just yet.

Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.

Lots of overcrowding problems. The PVP servers are hugely popular and most are jam packed with long queues. The normal Pve servers are doing ok, most have a low-medium population.

Ill make a comparison for ya...

Customer service - Havent had anything to complain about to blizzard so cant really judge them. I do notice they dont delete any semi critical posting like SOE does. I wont even go into paragraphs about SOE, everyone knows their rep - Winner Blizzard

Graphics - EQ2 has more polys than WoW, however the game sorely lacks details. Trees, the few that are around are completely barren. No paintings on the walls in Inns, very few fine details at all. Blizzard's game has cobwebs in trees, little bugs buzzing by, birds flying around, etc but less polys. Much easier on your system also. - Winner Blizzard

Sound - one annoying tune that fires up every 30 sec doesnt count as sound, sorry EQ2. With Blizzard, you get birds chirping, waves crashing onto shores, wind blowing, etc. - Winner Blizzard

Quests - EQ2 makes life difficult for ya by hiding half the npc in town. Even the guards dont know where an npc is half the time, nothing but a blatant time sink here and the rewards are pathetic. Nothing more frustrating that spending an hr looking for an npc only to get 45c for reward. Blizzard makes quests in part to teach you locations and rewards often are very helpful and better than any armor you can afford to buy. Winner - Blizzard

combat - No question here, winner Blizzard because solo or grouping is fun. Solo play is next to impossible in EQ2 past lvl 12

Can someone please make me a sig. I would like it to have something to do with an eagle(the bird) Somewhere near the eagle can you put the words "Global Defense Initiative". Could you also have the line "If you can't buff up, don't step up!". Thanks!

    Private Message me about it!

You can but both sides have to consent. You are open for attack in enemy city though.
Battlegrounds are sort of like arenas (but much better) and are available in both pvp and pve servers.
They're not in the game yet though.

Normal server... PvP is consenual between players in neutral areas or consensual between allies. There are no contested zones in normal servers where PvP is wide open. However, if you enter an enemy city on a normal server you are open to attack (PvP) by any enemy player. Also you can attack enemy NPC in their towns as well.

Only difference is contested areas really

I just wanted to add that you should also realize that on a pvp server, your 20+ questing will take place in contested zones. Some areas are more accesible to one side while others areas are equally accesible by both sides (where most of the pvp happens).

IMO, I like the pvp server because it's more realistic. At the same time, there are plenty of contested areas that have barely no pvp because it's so protected or inaccessible to the other side, so you can quest with less fear. :)
