Initial estimates based on number of servers and sales of WoW suggest between 500k and 600k players in 2 days. From what Ive read about EQ2, numbers seemed to have peaked at 200k players.

So perhaps all those WoW vs EQ2 posts will stop now that we have a clear winner :)

ps. should i prepare for flamage ?

First off the game has the best tutorial ever. There is little doubt how things work as each topic is covered by an npc leading you through a simple quest that 1. gives you an easy explanation on how something works and 2. gives you xp and 3. feels immersive and not tedious chores. I truly enjoyed making my first items as an artisan because there was no guess-work involved. I made something based on tutorial, got some xp, unlocked use of crafting room, and was able to sell the items i made. For combat and movement, the ship was a nice way to intro you to these things without risk of messing up and ending up dead.

I only made it to level 6 scout (and level 4 artisan) so far but had fun doing it. It didnt feel like grinding because i was doing quests for npc's. I havent left the beginning player town (didnt pay attention to name) but still didnt even come close to talking to everyone. There's some neat things to try like fishing and swimming underwater. Also the loot isnt bad for newb area. I've been able to loot enough stuff and sell back to an npc to buy a full set of armor for my level (jn just an hr or two).

The graphics are truly detailed. I have an AMD 3000, 1 gig corsair ram (3200), 200 gig ata133 drive, soundblaster audigy 2, and a ATI 9600 128 mb video card.... hardly top of the line but graphics still looked pretty good. And amazingly zero lag !!! I was expecting SWG type lag but got absolutely none, no skips, no freezing, nothing but smooth frames.

I have yet to experience EQ2's customer service so I leave no judgment from that. However, if the game is as stable as it appears to be, I wont have much need for a csr.

i laugh at you, ha ha ha. image

Official sources? or at least something by a gaming website rather than some poster on the SWG boards?

I think I will get Kunou to mop this thread up too. Maybe even with another delete.

You left off my follow up review when I discovered crafting was broken and I couldnt solo after level 12 with my Rogue and the monotony set in for a loooong grind.

Numbers are based on number of servers plus loads on them (someone else on WoW forum here did the math). EQ2 numbers were reported in a mag review and reposted on EQ2 Forums.
