Heya!
I just downloaded Eve,
And when i logged in there is like 4000 zillion choices of classes/races/bloodline w/e!!
Now i myself as a former 5 year WoW (MAGE) player is looking for what should fit me best as being a former ranged dps.
So its a small and easy question! what race/bloodline/race should fit me best if i just want to be the guy at the back doing massive damage!?
Thanks in advance ^^

Short Answer: Doesn't Matter. It's pretty much for RP only.
There is also really no "guy in the back doing massive damage" in EVE and the ones that do massive damage is a long long way from where you're at now.... (I'm talking like 8months to a year). I would highly suggest to read a bit more about what EVE is before going headfirst. If you know what to expect, then you will have a higher chance of liking it in the long run. I can really tell you don't really have any idea what you're in for. :-) (not that it's a bad thing) Basically........ take everything you know about WoW and throw it out the window right now, because they are no where near the same.
Also, look into joining the Corporation "EVE University", they can teach you alot more than the crappy newbie channel can.

Race/Bloodline aren't going to really affect your ability to be "ranged dps" or any other role based on the fact you can train whatever skills are relevant to that role regardless of race. So, for ranged dps, you might be looking at Long Range Targeting among other things and not neccessarily whether you are Gallente, Amarr, etc.

do the tutorials, ALL of them, they dabble a bit in a few of the MAJOR things you can do in eve... but in no way those tutorials will show you all that you can do. in there you can do whatever the hell you want.
and like a poster above said, everything you know about WoW, throw it out the window and don;t think about it, other than both using a computer to play the game nothing else is the same. (oh and maybe the chat.... wait no thats different too other than spelling, thats always the same, at least when done right)
Heya!
First of all, thanks for the super fast reply's & the great suggestions.
I will just make a char with what i feel most comfortable with. And i got to forget everything wow is about that is undoing 5 years of hardcore raiding that wont be a easy task! But hey, i quited wow, thats to hard for most people even
Also, i dont know alot about Corps yet, what they can do/mean for you i guess its just like a "Guild"? Doing stuff togather, Helping eachoter etc?
I will keep you guys updated for sure!
Again, Thank you
There are no raids in EVE. There are a few PVE things that require a group to do, like wormholes, but I really don't know too much about them. The PVE is absolutely terrible in EVE and I avoid it like the plague. EVE is first and foremost a PVP game, most of those who do PVE just do it for money so they can PVP.
And yes, a Corp is basically a Guild. Since EVE is a PVP game, numbers mean alot and flying solo is usually a pretty bad idea, once you make the jump into low sec.... which you really should do eventually (wait a little while first or you're just be cannon fodder). Most of the game is in systems with security ratings of 0.2 to 0.0 and doing things with a Corp. You really can't get very far in EVE and experience much of the game unless you're in a Corp and a decently sized alliance. (an Alliance is a group of Corps)
EVE isn't for everybody, bu it's a good game. Just please don't come back telling us how much you dislike the game if you decide you don't like it, because we've heard it 100 times before. lol

Amazing!
I wasen't really aiming to a PVE game anyways, i like PVP as much as i like PVP in WoW PVE was the thing to do and so i went with the flow, i did have some pvp chars and loved it but lets stop with the stupid WoW talk its getting annoying
Is there any particular site people use to find Corps? How do they apply to one? is it trough in-game or trough site apply's?
Just a few questions i'm throwing at you! (Btw i'm doing the toturial's are we are speaking!)
Thanks!
You can look at http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&channelID=109585
You can also use the in game recruiting channel
Otherwise, it might be worthwhile looking at Eve University: http://www.eve-ivy.com/
Also, you might look at the "survivor guy" series on this site. He did a series on EvE and it might help to see areas where he hit a wall, how he got past it, and other observations he made as a new player.
edit: also worth a look: http://www.eveonline.com/careerguide/

Welcome to eve.
One thing you will need to keep in mind is that CCP place very very few limits on how players interact with each other. Apart from other considerations, this means that you can be scammed, ganked, tricked perfectly legitimately. Do NOT assume that just because something is not allowed in other games, it is not allowed in EVE. Although there are lots of very friendly, helpful players, there are also plenty who will mercilessly exploit your ignorance.
And that's the way we like it. All I'm saying is, read the small print, and ask for advice. If a deal looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is. In my experience, this forum is a reasonably good place to ask for advice. You will get more responses on the EVE-O forums, but a higher percentage of them will be malicious.
That said, please dont let me put you off dealing with other players. Player interaction is what EVE is all about (you will soon learn why we mock games like WoW as "massively singleplayer"). Find a good corp, have fun, and join in.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
Take all you know about MMOs and throw it all out the window cos if you don't you'll have a hard time. Treat eve like a whole new different game and learn everything step by step and you won't have any trouble.
Tool tip: You don't have to use autopilot to travel, you can set destination and just warp to 0 manually. I've seen many people come and complain about that.
This is not a game.
You should come over to Rancer for the party you can find it near Jita?
wahts waht? that flashing thing? oh its jsut a firework to say 'Hello'
as a five year player there is a ton of stuff to do, i started doing mining and am now mission running lots while I finally tweak my 22 million skill points for PvP
I so know I am getting owned

Since you seem to think that your sp mattered in pvp, yes you're going to get your ass handed to you.
woohooo
*Bends over*
Yeah i know SP makes little difference but I plan on flying the Interdictor while the rest of the group....hey.. I nearly gave my plan away

This video will give you a good idea of what you should do in EVE, great video.
When people say "forget everything you learned in any other game", they mean that pretty literally.
Another tip; bigger isn't always better.
Wait..... what?
You mean 62 right? 5yrs & 22mil SP is pretty bad. lol. When I started playing in '05, there were already several guys in my corp who had over 20mil. I haven't played the whole time since '05 and even took a 2yr break straight + several other shorter breaks and I'm still hitting 35mil this week.
Sucks. I met a guy once who's EVE birthdate was 2 or 3 months AFTER mine and he had 82mil. And that was back before I even hit 30.
Like Trading Card Games? Click Here.
He took long breaks with no skill training. I only have 20 million Sp after two and a half years and most people I know have that after a year and a half.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Just forget that WOW crap, it's not gonna work in EVE.
Ditch all that knowledge and start over with a freh mind.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
Just to add to this bigger = better argument.
About two weeks ago a friend of mine in a Megathron got taken out by a 3 month old player in a Ishkur.
If you don't know what a ishkur is its a Tech II frigate (smallest combat ship) its fields five small drones.
This guy took apart a Faction fit Megathron.
This was probably that guys biggest kill to date lol.
I was on my mission alt at the time (in a NPC corp) and His QQ rage was epic in chat lol.
This Ishkur pilot was cool calm and collected, he easily dispatched the megathrons light drones and stayed under the BSs guns. With the loot he got he could easily buy 3-4 more Ishkurs (20 mill each).
So keep telling yourself that SP and bigger ships are all that matter. From my experience I found that In game experience and social ties are the most important in Eve not skills, ship size.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
From my experience this accounts for about 75% of a players success in EVE. The other 25 being the balls the ishkur pilot had.
Hahahahaha,
Epic link ty for sharing
Also the tip for the "how to avoid autopilot" thnx will save me some time.
